    Scott is such a knowledgeable man. I love watching your videos as they really teach me all about farming. I worked on a professional golf course for 23 years with 6 years of university training and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and golf courses too. It is so cool to see what you are doing there. I live in Ontario , Canada but the only difference between where you are and where i am is the "micro-climate" and growing areas we both experience. So sorry for your loss of Scott. GOD bless you guys. Take care

    I’ve made a lot of hay over the years. But I’ll never have all those apperatteses you have. But I can see where you need all them in the hay business. I love the videos and I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed them. Thanks

    Impressive!! Orienting yourself to a new tractor, new controls, watching monitors and staying on course to bale hay, all I can say is WOW! I thought I was big time running a 4020 John Deere!!

    Okay. I worked a lot in hay but here in Belgium that is quite different. The weather gives us only a small window of opportunity to hay. Mostly we have one cut. Some years we have double cut but that is rare. Like all that configuration after the John Deere. We do all seperate. Small bails are the best in quality so very good idea to work on that. I would like to be there in the summer and bail all day long eating sandwiches on the tractor. Cool job. That grass is also very thick and free of distels. Nice.

    awesome setup. from exp. i can tell you the less you have to stop or touch the hay the more $ you will make. one breakdown etc. can ruin that cuttings productivity and profit. that's why most of us, especially smaller operations using old equip. like mine have 2. setups one old backup and your prime mover. all farmers become deeply Religious/Weather forecasters and pray a lot especially when we have hay down. we get around $8 per 70# 2 string bale of clover hay mixed with english rye, orchard grass and brome here in Orygun. i could easily double that if i could get it to So. Calif. economically to sell it. ours is organic hay and that fetches a huge price down there.

    Hey sexy tractor driver ( not you Scott lol), drive that 6120r just like your car or truck, don't use the clutch peddle, just step on the brakes, it will disengage the clutch.
    When I'm running our 8310r and grain cart and pull up along side grain trailer or wagon, I just use the brake, never have used the clutch peddle.

    What a Great Lady,,,, and Oh So Smart,,,, You Folks Be Careful,,, So Dangerous,,,, Tractors and Farming,,,, One Day Our Neighbor Came By The Ranch House In His D-6 Dozer and Asked If He Could Cut Thur Our Ranch,,, Sure,,, Sure No Problem... He Never Showed Up At His Ranch,,, We Found Him The Next Day,,, Tractor Still Running,,, He Took a Short Cut and Got Sliding Sideways On Shale, Down a Canyon Into a Tree... We Found Him Crushed Up Against a Tree,,, No Roll Cage... The Coroner Made Us Get Our D-6 To Pull His Tractor Off The Tree So They Could Get Him Out... We Also Had a Crop Dusting Service,,, So a Lot of Danger On The Ranch As a Kid,,, Those Old Tractors Where Dangerous As Hell,,, Top Heavy as Hell,,, But All Tractors Are Top Heavy, Even These New Beauties,,, It's Just Dangerous,,, So Be Careful...

    • @NorthTexasHay
      @NorthTexasHay  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      matthew cloud I only deliver to the feed store and they have a machine to unload. My individual customers pick up what they need at the barn and I load with a machine. I rarely touch any bales by hand

  • @smcox1991
    @smcox1991 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    What percent tint is that on the windows? I've been considering having my Kubota tinted because even in the middle of winter I can still use the a/c. Also what do you spray on the hay? I've seen balers for sale online with the tanks and know that you can spray the hay if it's moist but exactly what is it? As for light bars get on eBay and buy yourself some you can get them for hardly anything nowadays and the quality is pretty good.

    • @NorthTexasHay
      @NorthTexasHay  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      smcox1991 20% tint. Proprionic acid is what is sprayed on the hay. Anything over 11 % and under 18% I spray

  • @thomasmccrea8149
    @thomasmccrea8149 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow I have never seen a tandem hay rig like that. I could not see how the PTO was hooked to the baler. Was it a long shaft or do you have some sort of hydraulic pump driven shaft ? That is much more fancier than my open cab 4020 and Heston baler. I love those in line balers ! Another question..... is the 6120R "too much" power for the baler ? Do you break many shear bolts with that much power and thick hay ? Do you operate her in the 540 economy mode ? Thanks for sharing!

    • @NorthTexasHay
      @NorthTexasHay  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thomas Mccrea there are actually 4 shafts combined, and if your clutch on the baler is adjusted properly it's not possible to have to much horsepower. This tractor does not have an eco 540

  • @958kris
    @958kris 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    When you are controlling the strokes per bale do you keep the engine speed constant and vary the ground speed with the transmission? I don't quite understand how this works and I'm assuming you're trying to get a consistent density with each bale.

    • @NorthTexasHay
      @NorthTexasHay  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      958kris control with ground speed and it's for consistent flakes and bale weight

    Been looking at putting a accumulator on my baler but was wondering if it drags the bales fuzzy on the bottom?

    • @stilsonian
      @stilsonian 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We've been using either an 8 or 10 bale accumulator since the late 90's (using a Parrish 10 bale now) and wouldn't go to the Kuhns or Hoeschler for anything in the world. Ground drag accumulators are great for our hay (Alicia, Tift85, and Perennial Peanut). The accumulated pack looks "combed" on the bottom of grass hay, but legumes are unaffected. Some folks on haytalk and other places warned that ground accumulators will drag good bales through mud, but if I'm baling in muddy or wet fields, I've lost my mind and dirty bales are the least of my worries.

    What's the stroke counter? How does it work? Non-farmer here.

    • @NorthTexasHay
      @NorthTexasHay  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keith Brettell when the hay feeds in the front there is a plunger that pushes it into the square shoot that you see on the back. The stroke counter counts how many times the plunger makes a revolution to make a bale. It helps us control our bale consistency.

    • @alexcoffey5682
      @alexcoffey5682 6 ปีที่แล้ว
