@@Buggy.nox07 Thanks for the reassurance :> It’s just difficult because of current circumstances that aren’t super ideal atm, But my partner has been with me for 4 years so I think things will work out. Never give up on love! If he’s committed after 4 years of no physical contact then it’s worth it
Your videos are fucking amazing. I have a hard time calling them 'content' because you put in SO much effort and care so much this is artful entertainment, I'd give this a kiss on the forehead if I could, but because I can't I'll give it a kiss on the cheek instead
@@besupaaa I’m fighting the ‘Irony Epidemic’ by resisting the urge to simply call something A Banger or saying it Goes Hard without much extra thought or expression. these things deserve love and sincerity as much as any other thing on this planet
The backslide of horror art is something that transcends medium, it’s a genre-wide epidemic. As rough as horror movies have it, though, the state of horror BOOK covers is especially dire. It’s been covered before, but it really does break my heart just how generic the covers of horror novels are these days.
Ngl I fw practical effects verses cgi gore/blood. When it looks like omfg, is that real? How did they do that? Makes a horror movie much more memorable for me personally
I swear, the essays when you nerd out play out like mini textbooks (in the best way possible). The section on children's horror was a pleasant surprise I didn't know I needed
The Cannibal Holocaust spanish release cover was one of the scariest I remember when I was a kid. You can't beat sneaking your parents to check on the horror films just to be captivated and terribly scared from that. Lmao.
That child's play 2 vhs cover with the jack in the box scared me so bad as a wimpy kid I wouldn't get close to the rental section of the store for a few years
Street Trash and Video Violence are complete S tier posters. But my personal favorite is the Blu Ray box art for 1989 Intruder. Perfect poster for a Perfect movie
Really appreciate the effort you put into your videos, the editing and research really scratch an itch as one might say. Hope you have a great Halloween!
every now and then you switch from very informative content into completely subjective rants in the spit of a second, and what can I say, I am so here for it
I have a very specific memory of being in a Family Video store in 2012 and seeing the DVD for Dead Space: Aftermath. The whole "needle approaching eyeball" thing that some horror movie cover art does has always freaked me out and I think that's where it stems from
i love that you showed As Above So Below's poster briefly, genuinely one of my favourite movies ever and the promo art for it is so bombass i want it on a wall in my room
Being an 80's kid, seeing the huge poster for Fright Night (1985) at the local movie rental store scared me shitless - sometimes I would even close my eyes walking by it.
one of the best youtubers ever. Just talking about intersting shit in ways that makes me interested no inner symbolic overexplanation that makes my brain rot. Also genuinely unique takes and interests. Thank you crustbag.
Even if it's just a floating head, I think the Scream 1 poster works incredibly well for this specific movie, being a lot on the meta of horror movies, commenting on that and making fun of it. In that case, the floating head-celebrity is actually a good use to subvert expectations by drawing people in BECAUSE it's a celebrity they know, only to find our she gets killed in the beginning of the movie.
This channel is the fcking best bro, this is the kind of thing I felt like nobody cares about but I could listen to someone discuss for hours. Same thing applies to the dubstep aesthetics video and the noise not music logo one. More pls
i’m so glad I caught this video on my youtube feed because i am such an sucker for old horror movies illustrative covers, they inspire me consistently and this video is 1000% up my alley I want a resurgence of these covers more than anything
i love how passionate you look while talking about the topic, it's really refreshing to see someone who actually enjoys this instead of just another "need to find a topic for a video and put it out quickly" such a great video
The box art for the movie Jack Frost captivated me as a teenager. I walked by it a million times and was so endlessly curious about the movie. And then I saw it in my mid twenties and was so underwhelmed. I had built it up so much in my head during trips to my local video store.
I thought I was hearing things the second the Dead Meat music kicked in and then seeing you in front of their backdrop had me cheering. Good one, Crustbag. You got me.
I remember being so intrigued by horror movie box art as a child! I would always go to the horror section and stare at them until my parents dragged me away to look at more age appropriate stuff lol. This video brought back those memories and pinpointed where my fascination came from and why I appreciate those designs so much to this day, I am so grateful for your dedication to analyzing art in all its forms Mr. Crust PS love the Dead Meat outro!
Real cool vid as usual Mr. Bag, if u or anyone wants a cool look into a rare collection of vintage horror posters, Kirk Hammett’s ‘Too Much Horror Buisiness’ is a sick book. 1910’s-1980’s posters from his collection covered well, and includes some sections on toys and masks. Thanks for fulfilling the TH-cam niche I always wanted Crust!
One poster I have in my room and that I adore is the cabin Fever poster, there’s one specifically that I adore, the font looks like yellow paint peeling on wood, the tagline of “ TERROR… IN THE FLESH” is badass, and overall it’s just so cool
I have so much nostalgia going to Blockbuster in the early 2000s, especially for the horror section. Both posters and box art fascinated and scared me in equal measure. Like, I remember how much the posters for the first two Jeepers Creepers movies, well, creeped me out, especially the second one with the Creeper disguised as a scarecrow. This latter one was a little further back in the store and I remember staying away from that back part of the store because of how that poster unnerved me. I also remember the box art for Eight-Legged Freaks scaring me. And I remember really liking the box art for, of all things, Shark Attack 3! Such good times...
Repo the genetic opera is my fav horror movie ever, with a pretty cool poster, an even cooler Japanese poster, and like an insane cast and production, awesome sauce
1. Your videos are always very detailed and very well put together 2. Every time I hear the bully walking theme in the background of someone’s video I remember playing it when I was a kid
Man, this video made me go back to my collection and appreciate them all. Love your videos! Also--Lake Mungo is a movie that has a HORRIBLE standard cover, but I saw an alternative that filled me with dread when it used...."THAT scene." I love that movie so much.
Just found your channel and I'm HOOKED. Love the rants and your humor is enough to actually make me laugh out loud. I've been binging all your videos nonstop. Definitely my new favorite TH-camr ❤
I feel asleep to the pluto tv horror channel once and woke up in the middle of the night to the exact scene of Haunting in Connecticut that was on the cover. That was an experience. Also I'll watch movies on my phone sometimes for the privacy factor of just having a screen I can only see and headphones only I can hear, but it's definitely a better experience on a larger screen for sure. This was a great video that put a lot things I've felt into words better than I could have.
the thing (1982) is my favorite horror movie and the "Man is the warmest place to hide" alternate poster with the title of the movie as cracks in the ice and the dark antarctic landscape in the background is fucking amazing i love the iconic poster but something about that alternate one really captures that cold, paranoid feeling you get while watching the film
This video is what got me to find your channel and honestly I love it so far! I'm a horror fanatic and seeing you cover horror covers and then seeing you also cover metal/band content made me excited as I've been recently been getting into harder metal. Totes love the channel, keep at it! Also the dead meat transition was hilarious as a dead meat fan 🙂↕️🫶🏾
I was gaming when I started watching this video, but I had to stop. I couldn't casually watch this, it just felt wrong. This was some nice editing man, love it!
love these type of crustbag videos the most. the album artwork, band merch, logo design etc. and who doesnt love a good horror themed video in october?
i love your videos bro, you just can tell you put so much effort on every video even if it doesn't look like it's gonna blow up, that's why you're my goat, keep it up 💌
Listen-I’d already subbed. You didn’t have to go soooooo hard with that perfect Dead Meat “To the Numbers” bit…but you did. And that gets you the elusive double sub. You happy? You oughta be.
I agree that the "just faces" style sucks in comparision to actually making a cool piece of art that represents the film, but i think humans just have a preference for other human faces. I don't have many followers, but i try to post my art online. projects I spend hours on and am so proud of never get as many likes as just me posting a selfie. I'm not a model. most of my followers are people i know irl, so i think its just that they recognize my face more than my work.
When you mentioned walking through blockbuster into the horror section the first thing I thought about was seeing the one missed call cover and just being so disturbed by it
THANK YOU the missed call poster scared the shit out of me, I had to have my head down whenever I went to blockbuster so I wouldn’t give myself nightmares
I really love your videos🔥 I’ve probably binge watched most of them already. I just really love how to make and edit your videos and it’s really inspiring to me🖤
Listen i know this might be a reach but at 27:30 the vacant/crazed eyes and the open mouth (+ the minimal lighting) immediately made me think of Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son" Or at least they both upset me for similar reasons
Two of my favorites are the moth on Clarice for the original silence of the lambs and the silent hill poster of the main character entering the endless fog with her sing is just classic
That smooth transition into the Dead Meat wrap up absolutely fucking killed me lmfao.
Yeah I heard the music and was like "wait is that...?"
When a long-haired man with a beanie starts talking about horror movies, you know it's time to listen.
Telling my imaginary partner to wake up rn because crustbag posted
REAL
@@Casey_SaddestMan aw man, i feel that honestly, but sometimes the strongest bonds are those where you find love no matter the distance!

Oh totally! Book covers have COMPLETELY fallen off, it's insane
THIS IS WHAT I WAS SAYING TOO LMAO book covers look terrible now, it is such an eyesore going to any bookstore
I'm happy with the dead meat reference
Ngl I fw practical effects verses cgi gore/blood. When it looks like omfg, is that real? How did they do that? Makes a horror movie much more memorable for me personally

we are in an abundance of crustbag content, im crusting everywhere.
you know when a Crustbag video essay starts with 'the year is' it's going to be a banger
Who up bagging their crust?
The Cannibal Holocaust spanish release cover was one of the scariest I remember when I was a kid. You can't beat sneaking your parents to check on the horror films just to be captivated and terribly scared from that. Lmao.
The ending bit is so good. As soon as the song started playing I was like wait a minute. Bravo good sir.
2:04 bully soundtrack usage everyone clapped
That child's play 2 vhs cover with the jack in the box scared me so bad as a wimpy kid I wouldn't get close to the rental section of the store for a few years
The numbers bit at the end was amazing

Great choices 🤘🏼
cry of fear background music goes so incredibly hard
Was not expecting the Dead Meat reference at the end. Love that channel!
With the mention of Scooby Doo you won my heart. I'm pretty sure watching this as a child made so many people love horror!
For my money, The Thing 1982 is an example of a perfect horror movie poster. It does everything right, without revealing what the alien is.
Really appreciate the effort you put into your videos, the editing and research really scratch an itch as one might say. Hope you have a great Halloween!
omg crustbag and horror, 2 of my favourite things
Just sitting around bagging my crust when this drops. How serendipitous.
every now and then you switch from very informative content into completely subjective rants in the spit of a second, and what can I say, I am so here for it

I have a very specific memory of being in a Family Video store in 2012 and seeing the DVD for Dead Space: Aftermath. The whole "needle approaching eyeball" thing that some horror movie cover art does has always freaked me out and I think that's where it stems from
Yes the same with books!! I hate how most books have movie/tv adaptation covers. I want handmade retro art! I want vibes!
DUDE THE FD3 COVER YES i did a whole project on how that one is mathematically perfect visually its such a good but simple cover
i love that you showed As Above So Below's poster briefly, genuinely one of my favourite movies ever and the promo art for it is so bombass i want it on a wall in my room
fuck yeah new crustbag upload
Being an 80's kid, seeing the huge poster for Fright Night (1985) at the local movie rental store scared me shitless - sometimes I would even close my eyes walking by it.
oh fuck yeah new crustbag AND its about horror
god the dead meat thing at the end was awesome
I could use a bunch of really cool adjectives to describe this video, but I’m just gonna be blunt: it fucking rules

This video is incredible! A seriously cool look at a subject I've hardly ever thought about before.
Dunno if you'll mention it, but I adore the cover for Requiem For a Dream
I got so excited when I heard the dead meat music start up. I love it when a youtuber I like references another youtuber I like
Shoutout to the image of the Wegmans Home Video!! The memories came flooding back.
