My instructor was National Barber of the Year 1971 and he taught me things at 19 and 20 that I'd love to show others and teach. The problem I'm seeing in cheaper type schools are the lack of interest in really wanting instructor to teach who are seasoned as myself. Just because you have a license to barber or teach, does not make you worth a crap. The proof is in the art and know how. I lived it 40 years and now I feel I can be the best hands on instructor there is in the industry. Why! Because of my 85 yo teacher who thought I had an eye for the old school art of real barbering. My kit was simple shears, razor, few combs, and my Cape which I still have both. Thinning or now days blending shears. Taper comb and regular with one bigger flat top comb. Of I forgot a pair of clippers. No where did I say trimmers electrical devices.as the new style barber use. I'd love to cut a head without using electric. It was done in the 1700s and 1800s and before this era. So what happened to the "Ethics" of old school shaves and cuts? I had to learn by 99% non electric proceedures. You sure appreciate the work more and the move the attention. Not because I'm a female barber. Its because if they work hard and need a cut. That barber needs to show his or her customers they are very much appreciated and put the palm massager on your back hand and rub their shoulders. If you've never had a real old school experience your missing it all.
How do you (both you guys) eat/drink with that mustache length. I've gone length (to my chin not parted) but my thickness is like comparing a wooly bear to a Grizzly Bear's arm. Eating: soup, sandwiches, bbq; drinking out of mugs/cups was a serious chore; seriously, with that amount of lip hair how do you even? cheers

I do want to give a big hug to the camera man! I’m thankful he kept recording & didn’t let the talent turn him into mr.poopie pants. Barber was not the most cheerful man I’ve came across maybe it was the music playing in the background that put him in a bad mood 😝 but I learned a few things & Seemed like the client was happy... 😂 ...it almost pokes me in the eye.
Great haircut and beard trim. James was very respectful towards the client in regards to his balding crown and was respectful enough to acknowledge it and be real with the client about it all
Greg Berzinsky I gotta be honest I haven’t seen your video but I disagree with your comment. As long as it’s an healthy coveting and not a psycho coveting then it’s all good. For example in sport if somebody is playing in your position it should act as an inspiration for you to get better and dislodge them. It’s only when things get nasty then it’s a bad thing.
I was just thinking about cutting mine back to just scruff at a quarter inch but im inspired now. I have a new beard goal of it being long on the chin and the taper from the neck line. Both of you guys have awesome looking beards. Cudos to the barber!
The barber is clearly being extremely sarcastic with the camera man. I don’t think he was being truly rude at all. Just a personality quirk to tease people. All with a smile.
I agree with you I personally get my haircut at this shop the haircut is great and it it is always good energy there they just sometimes bust each others chops
James is my barber in Ridgefield and does my beard perfect each time! He's the man. Him and the cameraman are friendly Coworkers this is just the banter at the shop and one of my favorite things about it!
I frickin knew it. I saw that but people are so quick to judge. Plus, he was probably a little nervous. Tell him I was impressed with the full video... thanks
Very handsome beard. I may be one of the rare women, but I have never believed that men should go around with naked faces. Have always love beards ... always. Excellent work!!!
Not all men can grow a beard like this guy. Just because a man shaves his face clean also doesnt make him less of a man. Some guys cant grow a beard so it's better shaved.
Everyone who's saying the barber comes off as rude, literally look at his face when he tells the camera guy that he can't talk. The barber is literally half laughing and fully smiling when he says it, he's obviously joking. I really like this guy actually, seems like a very chill guy and he gave the customer exactly what he wanted.
Wow, just saw the cameraman bit everyone's mentioning. I'm surprised that made the edit. Guys like Eric, Greg, Jeff, etc. seem like such nice dudes. You don't want that sort of negativity spoiling the brand's regular vibe, which is fraternal, kind, and excellent.
Gotta keep in mind, these guys are really good friends (the barber and cameraman) they break each others' chops all the time. No harm intended towards one another.
James is usually a really pleasant guy and very nice... Maybe he just had a bad moment.. He didn't want anyone to interupt his explanation of what he was doing to this client.. He's an amazing Stylists... Love his beard... So many negative people on here... I'm still a Fan.
I used to be a barber years ago but moved and there was a mixup on my license and I would have had to go back to school. By then it was taken over by cosmetology and hairdressing and I just wanted to just cut men's hair without all that. I am glad to see a resurgence of sorts in men showing an interest to once an all male profession, that frankly I thought was lost. Liked the beard but thought the handlebar moustache wasn't as attractive, but that's what the customer wanted. The hair was thin and there was really a limited choice as to how it was cut so it looked alright. Since he had already started cutting, he couldn't cut out the part with the cameraman and so it stayed. Probably he forgot to let him know that he didn't want any comments while he was working, so maybe we should give him a pass. I thought it was very interesting.
This guy is an artist man. I wish we had Barbers like this guy around where I live. I know there are probably some around, but finding them is a quest. Most of the ones I run into are hacks, assembly line workers cranking it out as quick as possible and on to the next dweeb waiting to get whacked.

When i made a handlebar mustache video, i got a lot of comments regarding the amount of wax i applied but i think each person applies to there liking. Btw great beards guys, especially the salt and pepper one!
Amazing work with a difficult head, and particular customer. The beard work is wonderful, thanks for the detailed method description. PS: Barber could switch to decaff, or just relax before the camera. Shows great skill when you can still give a perfect trim with all that going on.
I think this was a great cut. Love that he works in small steps and doesn't just hawg done and pretend he ment to take too much off. Beard looked awesome, guarantee the stash will look Steller up or down.
gorgeous silver beard and i love the way you did the hairstyle on him, i have thinning hair too + receding hairline and been looking for some style that still allows me having a little hair, i am not ready to buzz it all off yet. I have a very large beard these days " about 11 inches" and about the same stache as silver daddy in the video except my beard is brown/reddish but thinking about getting a shorter style for the summer so this has given great inspiration to a style... Thank you! btw is Daddy single hehehe... Woof!
So I watched the next video where he apologized for this one. I came here to see what the fuss was all about. He didn't say or do anything offensive, seems more like he was joking. You guys are way to overly sensitive. Some people didn't have friends when they were kids and it shows.
I have very similiar hair. I like this cut though I'm not sure I want to do a bald fade. I like the look of the full beard here but wear my own trimmed tighter. Barber has a great look too.
Nice job. But the arrogant, dismissive way you spoke to the guy with the camera was uncalled for. Talent doesn’t give you the right to belittle anyone.
I only skipped to the end and I noticed the same thing when he told him to get out of the way from the mirror. It was extremely dooshy the way he came across.

I wonder why Beardbrand keeps this video on, it brought more attention to the poor attitude than the job which was supposed to be great but it was not.
I've been trying to let the moustache grow it's hard not to chew on it or trim it down with the chompers.. I can only imagine what I look like in public chewing on my moustache hairs LMAO but the beard is sitting just above my collar bone finally got my length back after the incident when I bumped into the side of it with the clippers.. But I found a way around that.. Wrap a towel or a bandanna over it if you're going anywhere near it when you're using the clippers on the head.. I could use a fade on the sides and the back
I hardly ever comment on videos, but I wanted to give props to the barber on the stellar beard trim. I did my own a few days ago with the new beard ( started Oct '17) and it's nowhere close to this caliber. I also envy the client's stache. Wasn't a huge fan of the dali style at the end though (personal preference, not the barber's work). I think a loose walrus would be perfect with the aesthetic of everything else.
So the camera man wasn't allowed to ask questions answer the question why I'm a little confused explain yourself apart from that I think you did a good job keep it up and know that someone talking in your video is not that big of a deal
