- The moment I saw this animation meme I knew I had to do it. I thought it fit really well with the story, and I liked how emotional and angsty this whole thing is.
In this video, Gullpaw is in the middle of (amateur) hunting for fish. Dirtpaw follows him and annoys him with his clinginess until Gullpaw has enough and begins to shout at him.
I don't want to explain too much about what's going on in this video, there's already another vid I'm working on, and if I were to explain what happens in this vid or why Gullpaw says what he says, then it would spoil the entirety of the next video, where would be the fun in that? For now, feel free to put your tinfoil hats on and theorize, I'd love to read it :D

I'm absolutely flabbergasted at the support and love this video got??? Thank you all so SO much for the kind words! I would have never thought in my wildest dreams that I'd receive this amount of support, especially because I was gone and inactive on this channel for a very, very long time. You guys are lovely, and it's really exciting to read your theories, it's amazing how many ideas can be derived from a 35-second long video.
Currently, I'm working on making character sheets for Toyhouse! The way this story is being told is quite...Not ideal, so I decided to set up a Toyhouse account where you will get all the necessary info you need. My theory
Dirtpaw is adopted by Gullpaw's mom and has always viewed Gullpaw as a big brother of sorts. Dirtpaw tries to gain approval from Gullpaw but this instead frustrates him. Gullpaw holds alot of resentment against Dirtpaw for taking his mom's attention away from him, and because of this Gullpaw gives up on trying to be nice to Dirtpaw.

Since Gullpaw said Dirtpaw came out wrong, that could mean his mother died giving birth to him. It kind of makes sense, and goes with your theory about him being adopted
My theory
Based on what we've seen, every cat in this clan all have lighter colored pelts (Yellows, whites, all super bright and light) so dirtpaw being born with such a dark pelt might have been considered a bad omen of sorts? Maybe that's what Gullpaw means by "You came out wrong" because his pelt color isn't mostly lightly colored like everyone elses and because Gullpaw mother took dirtaw in, Gullpaw might be looked at differently. Gullpaw might be getting bullied or made fun of now that Gullpaw's mother took dirtpaw in so he's resentful and starts hating dirtpaw. Dirtpaw's own mother might have died from giving birth or maybe of disease, but its obvious she's not in the picture nor is dirtpaw father. Dirtpaw's name can even be interpreted as something negative as in warriors "dirt" can be used to describe cat poo I.e the "dirtplace". Even his own mother could have disliked him so gave him a bad name.

The thought I kind of get from your theory (which is very logical, by the way.) is how the character Bhoot from the Jungle Book (audio source) is pretty much a pure white (plus a few other different physical features) when most of the wolves in his pack are a brown, light brown, black, etc. So your theory just reminded me of the original clip and how Mowgli ruins their relashionship by doing this. Anyways, I think it is a really good (and logical, which I already added, but just had to mention again) theory!

I know a ton of people probably caught this, but I just wanna acknowlage the fact you changed it to "it's just something MY mother tells you to make you feel better about yourself." Not your mom, not our mom, but MY mom. That little bit adds on to how Gullpaw clearly doesn't accept Dirtpaw as family and doesn't even care enough to acknowlage that they share a mother now, wether by blood or not ;D
My theory is when Gullpaw says “ YOU CAME OUT WRONG! “ he means that Dirtpaw was adopted my his mother, and maybe his mother tells him things to make him feel better, possibly about the loss of his parent, and Gullpaw’s mother has all her attenrion on Dirtpaw, that Gullpaw feels let out, letting out his anger on Dirtpaw
Well Gullpaw also specifically says “My mother” instead of “our mother”
I wonder if Dirtpaw's mother died while giving birth to him? It could explain why Gull says he came out wrong, almost implying that Dirt killed his mother simply by being born. The use of "my" mother in that scenario could imply that Gull never saw him as part of their family- he views her as HIS mother, not Dirt's.

As for theorizing I'm honestly wondering if this links directly to his cannibalism-
Or maybe in his youth he's just a bit weird in other ways which is why he found it easier to turn to cannibalism? Or I guess being excluded- which this vid clearly shows he is- in his younger years, could've lead to that cause he doesn't have much care for other cats. Maybe. I'm just rambling but yeah love your content keep it up!!
Edit: OH I did not realise it says 'something my mother tells you' rather than your mother. I get why other people keep commenting that he's adopted lol. Also this clearly shows Gullpaw doesn't accept Dirt as a brother because he didn't say 'our' mother. Interesting.

I would say he turned cannibal because of hunger and he just gave up on himself, starting him to think he was as the clan cats said he was.

If you're curious about their story, I suggest taking a look at those videos' descriptions, since I believe they had a basic story summary on what happened to Dirtpaw/Dirtpool over on their Deviantart.

Considering the what Dirt ended up doing later in life, I seriously hope Gull realized it was his fault for being a fox hearted excuse for a brother.

It is easier to believe in a good fairy tale than in a harsh reality.
Why do I feel this on a personal level-
When I first saw the scene on TikTok it made me want to cry.. I never thought someone would use the audio and animate it in their own way (not using the original characters in the movie it's from) but I'm really happy to find that it has been. This is beautiful, but incredibly sad at the same time. I need a commission like this for my own characters, because it's so relatable it hurts..

Oh, my word I adore the animation and emotion in this! Especially when there are parts where the characters really look like they are speaking! Like in the part where Dirtpaw says "you're special an-and I'm special!" the little head movements and the difference in his posture are so immersive, and the way of showing their emotions and the way you draw the characters feels so fresh and inspirational! So I'm just gonna slide my theory into this (though it's a bit of a stretch):
Maybe when Dirtpaw was born his mother died due to complications that happened during his birth, and maybe Gullpaw's mother was very close to Dirtpaw's mother so when she died, it caused a lot of grief for her and for Gullpaw, so Gullpaw blames Dirtpaw for all the problems the death of Dirtpaw's mother caused Gullpaw's mother.

So that's what Dirtpool meant to Bunnypaw in the discussion at the end of the video I am not insane.... I see that if Dirtpaw wasn't already enough crazy Gullpaw was really harsh on him... Or might in the next video we see that he's actually right and the enemy is Dirt.. Don't know what to expect. Btw imagine that you are with your cat on your couch watching a film. Suddenly your cat goes to the open window without you notice with another cat. It goes missing for a few days, and you'll never find out that the stray cat with your kitty has actually eaten yours. That would really be sad for the poor hooman

You are correct! It's called Mowgli; Legend of the Jungle and it's a Netflix adaptation. It's a very emotional (and traumatizing) telling of The Jungle Book
