Love it! I don't know if that pack was actually heavy or not, but it sure looked like it! I've been wanting to hit this lake ever since we didn't make it up there on our St. Joe river hike. I need to hit that section of the stateline trail as well, I haven't hiked that section yet. Lots of good info about the trails that will help me out! And thanks for the little tour of the Missoula Lake campground. Been past there a few times, but I've never went down. Beer in the truck! 🍻 Hike on!
The pack was heavy mostly because of the 6 beers. I'm kinda the opposite of an ultralight backpacker. It was an awesome hike better than the other trail from below. I'm glad you watched it! Hope it helps. Hike on!
Alot of gold mining history in that area. One of the first Ranger Stations (not to be confused with the look-out on Illinois) was built around 1910, on that ridge you took to Illinois Peak. The old Log Cabin style outhouse still stands to this day. (The roof has caved in)
Hey Bryan! You definitely see the mining history all around, like the dredge bucket and the tailings on the face on Illinois Peak. Cool to hear about some of the Forest Service history. Thanks! Wish I would have seen that outhouse. Thanks for watching!

My favorite is Montana IPA from them, but the gas station was sold out, so Otter Water is was. Good beer!
