Roots Lifted Tallstrider and a raptor. And yeah, that's why blizz fixed this sort of really fast as a lot of "us" abused the hell out of this in PvP :/
I had one of these! I remember that it also -looked- super fast because the actual model was so tiny but had the fire effect. I think it was probably the angriest I ever made people in BG's, at least as a hunter.
While I technically don't have my favourite pet anymore, I'll give you the story of how I lost it. I started my WoW-career in mid-WotLK, as a hunter, back then I never played the game really serious, with being a noob and all, but I enjoyed it very much. When Cataclysm was announced I felt like it was time to start over, so upon the release (on my birthday I might add) I switched realms and made me a new hunter, an undead one for the RP-lore I could put into it and the cool pets I could match with it that doesn't fit any other race. So, around level 5 I tame a bat, Blindscreech in Tirisfal Glades and I'm very happy about it. It's good for pvp aswell which I started to dabble in, even though I really don't like it that much, it's a nice change sometimes. So I quest on, learning new things, taming some new beasts, a plaguebear, one of those carrion birds that are all bandaged up, until I reach level 43. I had started questing in Eastern Plaguelands at this time and had just picked up the quest "The Lone Hunter". I read the quest (as I always do) and didn't really expect to much of the beast I needed to slay, then I saw it. A ghost wolf, with a sword stuck in his head. If my undead would've had a heart, it would've skipped a beat. I did not finish that quest. Instead I went on to the internet searching for how to tame this wolf, while still keeping the sword intact. It took alot of time to find it, but on a forum for hunters/beasts, there it was, a guide with macros and stuff I would've to use to keep this pet, with the sword. So, I manage to tame it after failing a few times. The wolf is finally mine, sword intact. I named him Fenrir, because I'm Swedish and because from what I remembered, Fenrir (the mythological one) was killed by a sword/dagger. Fenrir followed me through my leveling and my learning to become an actually good WoW-player. We killed great beasts, we cleared old raids, hell, we cleared end game content for the first time together. We saved the world from Deathwings madness. Mists of Pandaria is released, we journey through the new mysterious lands together, helping Lorewalker Cho, meeting the ookin monkeys, fighting with the Shado-Pan. We cleared Mogu'shan Vaults, we cleared Heart of Fear, we cleared Terrace of Springs. Siege of Orgrimmar came out and we started clearing that too. Things were going awesome, got into a new guild that was actually skilled, WoD was announced, life was good. Then, I entered an arena. And boom. Just like that, the sword was gone. That arena pretty much removed the reason for me being an undead hunter in one fell swoop. I lost more than that arena game, I lost 4 years of lore and roleplaying because of it. I'm not even joking, I got so upset when I realised what had happened that I froze up. This was after the point where Blizzard had removed the bug that made "special look" pets to be tamed, hell, they had even made The Lone Hunter completely untamable. I spent that week in a daze of ticket submitting and just generally being depressed. There was nothing the GM's could do. They tried, they gave me tips, they were amazed that I had managed to have the wolf for so long since most people had gotten it removed years ago. So, after a week I did what I felt I needed to. I went back to that little village in Eastern Plaguelands, had a chat with Fenrir about all the things we had done together and then I released him into the wild again, hopefully to make his journey to a more peaceful land now that he was no longer stuck with a sword in his head. After that I lost all the joy I had of being undead and shortly after this incident I racechanged to an orc. As for rare pets nowadays, the rarest I’ve got is that toothed grub with the orange skin and yellow spots.
Fuck blizzard. dumbasses. I had them do the same thing to my BOA helmets that had enchants on them. Some dumbass GM suggested something, cant even remember what or why and i got my old helm enchants removed from my helmet. It was bullshit.
How did/do people figure out these bizarre ways to get a pet ? It's like spawn this and have a friend choke you while singing Dixie and watching Mickey mouse on TV, then kill 3 chipmunks, that btw have been removed on every day but Tues and then tame that one bush and wah la you now have a tame bush. Wtf...
Back in the days wow wasnt just standing inside ur capital city waiting for "...finder" to be rdy ^^ we were running around trying everything for fun. I think i tried to get into the pink dalaran bubble for more than 100h just to be world first.. the old world was magic OvO not perfect but magic
Yes absolutely I agree with Manuel here, it was magic, we definitely had no aps to help it was just run around and look around or there was a Wow Wikipedia online, check this out kids we Had TO READ what was going on. Lol, there wasn't really anyone showing you how to farm for gold or where and how to on Hunter pets on TH-cam at the time not really. Not till at least 2009 maybe...so nope we had idea like, hey, let's go see how far out we can swim in the SW harbor before we die of fatigue, OKAY lol and someone was like what's fatigue lol, Back when it was simple it was easy user friendly and glitchy as hell. Like when you'd jump on a 50 sec gryphon ride that lasted 1 hour as it just looped around in the air. I opened a ticket once to a GM as I was on a gryphon that looped all around SW and IF like the stupid bird forgot how to land. Or you'd take a boat from SW only to have it carry you and 50 other toons way out into the ocean only to vanish and we all fall into the ocean and try to swim back and not die. Paying for BULLETS yup, paying for glyph stones so your mage could open a portal lol, oh man the old days were wild. I remember having to go periodically into the Stockholm stockhold.... prison in storm wind and go do some Mike Tyson punch out style to work up the points in my hand to hand combat skills. Just amazing what we OGs saw and went through and because of our play and reports to GMs, you are have a much smoother and easier game play and TH-cam videos to watch how to which I'm thankful for because if or when I come back I'll need one lol. Thanks for reading.
@@manuzitz Amen Brother, read my comment in here, but as a fellow OGer, I was remembering having to buy Bullets for my rifle or arrows for my bow, or ruin or glyph stones in order for my Mage to open a portal, and we didn't have TH-cam guides like today we went to Wow Wikipedia and took out the readers AND HAD TO READ what to do lol. I was magic and glitchy as hell I myself had a gryphon ride that lasted an hour from SW to IF and back, as the dumb thing forgot how to land. We'd have friends say hey let's see how far out we can swim in the SW harbor before we get fatigue and die, OKAY!! Awe good old memories when it was simple and fun to wait around outside a dungeon for passer byes and be like want to join our group and or using summoning stones we didn't have no damn Dungeon Finder in our day!!! Lol thank you for saying we didn't stand around absolutely correct we went out and adventured in game and with the game. Thanks for reading and hope this found you well friend!
I remember seeing a post back in Mists of Pandaria telling players to go tame that spirit boar before it gets removed. I went and got it just for fun, I remember in that post people were mocking the dude and telling him the boar was ugly and nobody would want that. I don't play anymore but it's crazy to know that thing is rare now even though back then it was so easily obtainable that people mocked a guy who was only helping out.
Sadly, the internet is a silly place filled with stupid people. If you try to be helpful. You'll get mocked, and usually voted down into oblivion. Just for the lulz.
Doesn't matter as they have removed the pet and only Hati has that look (unless you change it). So with BFA we will loose hati and with it emerald dream pup will be lost sadly......
I remember when I tamed the green grub thinking it'll stay small which would wow some other hunters with a super small non-vanity pet. When I tamed it and saw it grew I legit jumped. Then I named my green grub/slug Braino.
I got the worgen pet and still have him to this day. Sadly, he was stripped of his appearance and reverted back to his worg form as a normal wolf. It actually ended up as one of the first hints that worgens were becoming a playable race, because Blizzard said at the time that they had different 'plans' for worgens in the future. This wasn't too far away from the announcement of Cata.
Sadly, I don't remember. It was so long ago that it is no longer in my forum history. At the time, there were a few threads on the WoW forums talking about the change, and I commented in at least one of them.
I was able to get the Worgen as well. I can't remember what year it was off the top of my head, but I do recall that the method was cracked over the July 4th long weekend, so they couldn't nerf it to all heck till the next Tuesday. I had a full weekend to enjoy my most amazing pet. I'm still crushed that they took the Worgen skin off him...
James Goines I am crying because I wanted to play a Hunter or a Druid for BfA and seeing the Dreamway wolf pup was an actual removed pet tears my heart... Otherwise, yeah, I can understand they wanted to fix some bugs and keep the exclusivity for just some really great players.
Some of those pets are really ugly or they have too old models. However, if they remake them models and just because they are RARE, you kept them for any reason, yeah, you have a well-deserved treasure!
I actually have that Pup! Back on April 13th 2017, I saw a custom group for hunters for these pets. I was summoned through a warlock portal into the Emerald Dream way. Each hunter took a turn taming a wolf pup. It only took about 48 hours before Blizzard 'fixed' this bug and turned everyone's pet into a regular wolf. However, I am a BM and had turned Hati into the puppy before the Fix.. I know that in BFA they will take Hati away, so I'm planning on lvling another hunter so my current one will not loose her puppy :)
Taming the Grim Totem Spirit Guide was the greatest thing I've ever done in WoW. I was so proud. You could spam aspect of the hawk and cheetah back and forth until the Gem proc'd, then your priest friend that MC'd the tauren would pop the guide as the pally I had with me would play the drums. It took an hour to get the timing right. When I finally completed the tame, the GTSG actually fell over dead, but still showed up in my stable. I revived him and Grim has been with me ever since. He's been "overshadowed" since the spirit beast was introduced with the same model, but I can use him in all spec's.Course, today's hunter really doesn't notice... or care...
I was so sad when mine got fixed... but I still have a 'pig on fire' that worked like the oil stained wolf in northrend, just it was in the tauren starting area, where you could set pigs on fire and they'd despawn eventually. I still got my lovely 'Steak' tho and he looks like a normal pig on fire up to this day :D
I think the shadow dmg was intended back then. Like broken tooth having an idioticly fast attack speed. The rares are still exist i think but they are regular wolf and cat now nothing special.
I would have loved it if opposite faction druids in animal form were tamable by hunters. Would definitely make druids rather careful while fighting hunters. I would assume as a counter, the druid being tamed should be able to change back to their humanoid form. But if they were foolish enough to stay in animal form during the tame ....
The Amber Parasite from the Klaxxi daily quest "Infection" was also tamable for a while the same time the Gorishi Grub was available. Having both the green or orange worms randomly appear with Dire Stable glyph confuses people. :P
The slime was actually tamable during burning crusade for a while in one of the 5 man instances. It got patched out pretty quick but like most of these pets people that got it got to keep it. I got so many comments on it back in the day people wanting to know how the hell I had a slime pet.
I remember taming the grimtotem spirit guide "ghost wolf". I think I did it with just the Skyfire diamond and bloodlust. You needed to proc the meta gem which cut the cast time of your next spell in half. So you spam aspect of the hawk and when you get the proc you aggro the mob to get the wolf to spawn. Your shaman buddy casts bloodlust and wham. You should be able to pull it off. Awesome video.
Many of the pets with appearance alterations (like lone hunter, Kung Din, etc) have a hidden buff that gives them the appearance. Due to the game mechanics, those buffs can be WIPED by entering Timewalking Dungeons, Arena, etc. with the pet called. (I lost my sha-infested prowler's buff to this, but I still have my sha-infested crane!)
@@Iceando It's not a lie, you just didn't actually glitch-tame it. I have both the Oil-stained Wolf and the Lone Hunter with the sword still, have had them with me since WOTLK all the way till now, in the War Within!
Back when I was a young lad I actually managed to tame Garwal, though in my stupidity and desire to use him I kept him out after he was unfeedable and ended up losing him. That was honestly one of the coolest moments in WoW for myself, I wish I could get him back.
Been playing WOW since Dec 2004 and still playing I have a wolf with the sword in his head. YEP showing my age and dedication when i play my OG hunter :)
I remember having that fire pet back then, it was hilarious having him sit on top of people in Org. I understand why he was removed, but I still miss that flame patch.
Also worth mentioning is that during the same time you could tame the Gorishi grub, you could tame a red version in the Dreadwastes. Both were fixed in the same patch. My hunter wasn't high enough to get the red one, sadly.
I still have my oil stained wolf and lone Hunter. I wish I had to foresight to keep my disease cloud bear but he was on the problem side because his AOE disease cloud actually dealt damage, so I felt he definitely would be deleted or something by Blizz so I released him to ensure my other pets weren’t touched in a reset or something. I remember managing to ask a friendly Horde on my alt to help me with the tame. He was so nice, willing to stay to coordinate with me on the pet. I really wish I got his nickname down
I had a magazine from tbc which said you could tame the orcs outside the horde camp in hellfire. This got patched before I got my hunter to those levels.
"Yeah i just recently got my new [insert cool pet here], what was your pet again?" "Oh mine? Watch." *a small area on the ground spontaneously combusts and a pet's name appears above it* "*THIS* is my pet, it's name is Gerald"
I remember a very late night and three hunter friends tackling the oil-stained wolf; a quest of our own making. It took hours, but all four of us acquired our very own dripping black-coated wolf. I still have it today on my OG hunter. It's a great memory.
I have the grub. There's also a red one you can tame during a klaxxi daily in mop. Both of them fixed but let people keep it who already have them. Strangely thex fixed their size. Originally the grub during bestial wrath was almost taller than a tauren sitting in a kodo mount.
honorable mention to the hive queen wasp of sholazar basin who originally grew in size when tamed and during bestial wrath could send entire raid groups into epileptic fits as the wing stutters now filled every screen. pissed they made her tiny a couple months later!
You actually can still get the ghost boar There is a small area in an out of the way part of the crawl where there is a ghost boar mob and it is tameable.
You can get the boar elsewhere in the instance, all the tamed Garwals were turned into regular wolves, and the "fire patch" pets were turned into regular raptors.
the flame patch raptor was hotfixed when people in battlegrounds where attacked by it and almost unable to target the pet. blizzard removed all, atleast my, flame patch looks from them I believe. I still have the oil stained wolf, the wolf with the sword in his head( named it excalibur), there was also a wolf in ashenvale that when near dead it would change into a spirit wolf like the totem one in your list which I have tamed via the good old pet abandon macro
I had the fire raptor for a while, and I never put him away because I thought that the stable would reset him. One day I log on and he's just a raptor. I also had the flaming boar from the Tauren starting zone. I've had him for years and for some reason his flame went away a month or two. My brother's pig is still on fire even though he kept it in the stables. Haven't touched the game since. I named my fire pig Critbuff. RIP Critbuff
Yeah sadly Blizzard stealth nerfed it. Removing the ability to do it, and if you had it lost it. If I remember right, it’s because it was being used and abused in PvP.
I had the worgen pet for all of like a week back in the day. Took me a few hours to get the tame just right. Then Blizz hotfixed him to be useless like 2-3 days later and a short while after that they just forced a hotfix that changed all of them back to the standard worg model but he was still useless.
I was one of the few ppl that got the emerald dreamway pup. Saw a group in finder for it, got brought there via a lock. Hunters took turns taming. It didn't take long to fix, soon the model was turned into just a normal wolf. I kept mine out for a good while but one day of logging in, saw it was changed. Sadly, for the hunters that did managed to tame it, also got theirs changed to a normal wolf model. RIP.
Always wanted the Ooze and Garwal, they look so unique!!! There is also an older thing I saw of a Flaming Boar in the Tauren starting area. The same tame/ instakill/ flame tactic applied if I remember correctly. I tried to do it, but it was already hotfixed!
Shortly after MOP launched I tamed a rare silkworm in jade forest it was even bigger then the grub in the video when I popped Bestial Wrath it completely filled a whole auction house the reactions were awesome. You should also mention the many ways Hati could be exploited at certain patches in Legion I still have screenshots from my Hati as a Valkyr or as a Giant Trex that was so big that you could only see the feet of it as I ran around with it in LFR and Dalaran. Fun times.
I had the green grub and oil wolf, but at some point they disappeared from my stable while I was taking an almost year long break. Ironically, the break was because they lost a few of my alts during the MoP "data loss" fiasco.
If I'm mistaken, why did three characters disappear completely and irrevocably from my account and why did I have a months long exchange with customer service about the whole ordeal? I think I have some idea of what happened.
I got the Emerald Dreamway pup, it was a Druid and a Warlock who RAFed, made a group in group finder and summoned people in. Hunters waited in a line for the pup to respawn, only took a minute to do so. Quickly patched out, but the pet retained it's appearance. Shortly after that, it was patched again to remove the appearance, turning the pup into a regular wolf. Fortunately, the Hati model still retains the appearance if you swapped it to the pup before it was changed. I will enjoy my pup until Blizz removes the power of my artifact weapon, and with it, my Hati puppy.
You did need a warlock to summon you there through recruit a friend, they also turned the puppies into wolves but if you turned hati into the pup you got to keep a pup version of hati. You could have also gotten a firelands scorpion through the same method and they didnt change that pet skin.
Still obtainable, but the Sons of Hodir in Storm Peaks had a daily quest that had you turn a jormangur (giant worm) into a ghost so the king could eat it. All these years later, and the giant ghost worm names Squiggles is still my BM hunter's primary pet :D
It's sad that they disabled the Grey Wolf pup for the people that tamed it. I know of 2-3 people that still only have the appearance because they transformed Hati into it, but the actual pet itself was turned into a simple grey wolf. It's going to be sad when Legion is over and Hati is gone permanently, along with that rare tame.
Yeaaah... I used to be a lil addicted. I would look in every single zone, and I wouldn't use a guide like petopia, cause its more fun that way. I could do end game content but....
James Ruocco *were too much fun before Blizz butchered the rotations in Legion. Also they could most definitely fuck right off with making Survival melee (again-ish.)
Remember many days, taking a beginning hunter to the Nelf starting zone to tame an owl/bird pet. or to the dwarf beginning zones to tame Bjorn. good times.
One of my favorite weird tames was the tiny scarabs you could tame for a short time in Naxx. A boss spawned a handful of them about the size of your character's head, and a friend and I got them as pets. They stayed tiny bit I think got turned into regular scarabs shortly after. I believe they also kept the black trail the boss summon version had which looked awesome.
I've never heard say "with great gusto and enthusiasm" and literally have neither of those in their voice, lol. Thanks Kargoz, I needed a GOOD laugh today and you definitely delivered.
One I think deserved a mention was another sholazaar pet from the same quest as the slime. It was a cool white ghost hydra. It was a crocolisk too until sometime in cata when they made hydra pet abilities.
My hunter alt still has a burning boar. Haven't used it in ages. I just checked and it's still there. Flames and everything. It also still has the angered arakkoa protector _with_ its special glow effect. There were no mentions of either in this video, but both are pretty neat to have. Pretty sure both are unobtainable now so I'm glad to see they still have their special effects.
Huh never heard of #1 before. That's playing a hunter since vanilla too heh. Sadly I never got any of the super rare hard to get pets. But I do remember when "rare spawn" pets were better then normal ones.. like the stealth Raptor.
WOW! I am in this video XD (that is my hunter, Hoshkar, inside the emerald dreamway with the bubbleheadded puppy!!! Yes we did use a warlock, who were summoned themselves with recruit a friend into the dreamway itself. This was posted all over the forums on Petopia, there was also an open group in custom finder helping hunters get into the zone to tame one. After it was patched out, (all bobblehead's you had in stable or out with you were turned into a standard vanilla white/grey wolf) anyone who turned Hati into the appearance did get to keep it (my hati is still a bobblehead puppy). Oddly enough, warlocks also got themselves into the firelands version of the shaman's class hall, where a fire scorpion was then tameable, this pet was also changed to no tame, but then added as tameable later, in normal firelands (so confused there). They need to bring this pet back, there are no cute pets in this game for hunters to use =\
Not sure to be honest, I was watching lost in adaptation for Game of Thrones videos, and just noticed it on the right side, seen the thumbnail, and remembered when I seen hunters taming the ooze pet. Knew I shoulda tamed one myself, but to me it just looked stupid, same for the other pets that were removed, just never thought they looked all that great. I did get everything ready to tame the ghost wolf, next day it was patched out...Just my luck! The bubblehead puppy though...still mad it was removed, and I am going to miss it when they scrap the artifacts in BFA :( - great video btw :D
Proud to say I have The Lone Hunter still. I also have an oily bird and Boar on fire (same capture method as oily wolf, birds were from the same area in Northrend, and the boars with the fire buff were from Hellfire Penn)
Surprised I didn't see the flaming boar pet in this video. That was another special tame hunter had that I even have on my dwarf hunter where its a boar from mulgore I think it was that was on fire but if you tamed it with a macro you kept the burning boar appearance. If anyone wants a screenshot let me know I've kept it on an old low level dwarf hunter since it's not obtainable anymore. I also have the lone hunter with the sword on my main hunter.
I also have the flaming boar from Mulgore. I named him JimmyDean. lol. I was shocked it wasnt in the video as well. Pretty cool pet, but one only to look at, I would hate for it to be killed like my wolf and revert to a normal pet.
I remember years ago that I got to tame the boss "The Beast" back in WotLK. You needed bloodlust and a shit ton of haste due to the knockup ability, but once tamed it retained the golden boss icon and ?? level. The best part was if someone had boss add-ons it would trigger it to show The Beast, even in pvp. Sadly it was removed and replaced with a basic core hound pet.
Really happy you are back on youtube! Honestly you do really high quality videos and deserve a lot more views so just keep up the good work and dont leave please :D
I had all of those except for the cutie wolf and the boar. Too bad I haven't played WoW in ages... I also remember quite a lot of other "aura bugged" pets that you could grab before it got patched. For instance, there was like a poisonous/deceased bear in Felwood if I remember correctly.
i have the spirit boar on my hunter, had no idea where i got him (since i stopped playing for quite some time) also had no idea he was unobtainable now
I got the dreamway pup, but after a few weeks blizzard turned all of them into normal grey wolves. HOWEVER if you, like me, transmogged your Hati to look like your pet, you still kept him in form of your Hati.
I had that worgen pet. When Cata came out, they turned him into a default wolf model. I was so sad about it. It was irritating to me because other hunters got to keep their odd pets, like the ooze, and hydras, and worms, but god forbid i enslave an alliance.
good video bro! i actually didnt know some of those pets you've mentioned even existed maybe because ive never played a hunter before plz do a video of rare mounts too :)
well the rarest mount is owned by one person. (he got it by mistake from a GM during vanilla) The AQ opening event mount. (a max of 1person/server at that time could get it)
I still whip out my flaming boar, "Thermite", from time to time. Since it was not mentioned... safe to say it's the rarest... it's never been hotfixed, which pleases me greatly because I love hearing that fire effect constantly burning next to me.
Gosh! So many awesome intel! Never played a hunter (no idea why, but two basic classes - Hunter and Mage - never ever clicked with me, dropped all my tries before I even reached lvl25), so I am really not aware about all these stuff, even though I've been in game since Vanilla. Hardly heard about more than half of these pets, actually seen in game probably only spirit wolf, boar, crock and oiled wolf. Exploding Raptor, Green Maggot, Ooze(!!!) and Pet Worgen - OMG this was AWESOME!
I got the Wolf with Oil on it and a Bear with a purple aura around him from duskwood. Love those Pets, because there are so rare to see, but in fact thats because non other Player can see your Pet with the Stuff on it. But all i used for them was a Macro i got from a friend who mained a Hunter that time. Doesn't need a other Person for the Wolf. But one Question i have. The Boar Spirit. Are you sure there are not a Pet with the same Model that Hunter can taim ... a boss i think it was, but i'm not sure about it.
I had so many rare pets that don't exist anymore, but I used to delete them as we didn't have that many pet slots. The rare ones that were on a timer were also nearly impossible to get as they were camped at all times and on a super long respawn timer.
I GOT THE PUP IN THE DREAMWAY! And yes, the recruit a friend warlock approach was exactly how we did it. Then Blizz took the model away ;_; The only hunters who kept it were the smart ones who turned it into Hati.
There was a flaming boar out that was part of a horde quest line near Crossroads. I remember it taking two people and around an hour of trial and error before my friend finally got it to tame right.
Yes!! I remember in cataclysm (I started wow right before Cata) I mained a hunter, and I would see a slime hunter pet and get A N G E R Y that I couldn't get one anywhere. Also I swear I saw a hunter have a whelp as a pet... Is that a glitch or.....
I have the Grimtotem Spirit Guide wolf, use it all the time. Obtaining it wasn't hard but required a lot of setup tbh. Hunter needed a helm with the meta gem that would make their next cast take half the time & had to spam abilities until it procced. Once it procced the Shaman needed to pop heroism/bloodlust, the priest (who was MC'ing the mob) had to then use it's ability to spawn them and the hunter then had to spam a macro to target & cast Tame Beast.
So that's what any friend got her worgen pet.. She got it one day and would never tell me where she got it's and would tease me.. now after watching this video, and learned that I can no longer tame this beast makes me a sad panda :
I can't confirm any of the other stuff you mentioned about Garwal, i don't recall any talents or abilities being taken away or anything but i do remember that they retroactively changed any tamed Garwals to a worg. You can no longer have Garwal in his worgen form, even if you tamed him in that form when it was still possible.
When Garwal was patched to no longer be tamable, the worgan got changed into a normal white wolf for all hunters that had him. The oil stained wolf and Lone Hunter got the same treatment, so not really a "lucky if you were there at the time" cuz even if you had them, they're gone now. :\ Wolves used to be my favorite pet to use in WotLK, had them all at one point. Garwal was also extremely difficult to tame on your own. Most people used the two person method, where the hunter would get him down in health, then another person would watch your taming cast bar and shoot him to make him a worgan right as your tame went off. There were usually a lot of hunters standing around the area, so pretty easy to find a taming buddy.
Neither oil-stained wolf nor lone hunter were given the Garwal treatment. Both mine remain intact, as do many others. A lot of people mistake the loss of the pet's hidden appearance buff for a "nerf", when they just took it into Timewalking or Arena by accident.
Aww, you forgot the burning boar! Worked like the oilslick wolf and was around the same time, but never got fixed as it was no advancement or anything. Set pigs in mulgore on fire via lowlevel quest, tame at the right time... and bam, you had an eternally burning pig. I'm never using mine for fear of him loosing his flames, but he's nice to confuse friends and other hunters :D
There were spiders and I believe bats/wolves in the southwest part of blasted lands which had a 15%+ dmg buff on them which looked like glowing fel magic coming from their maws, but you'd risk getting banned walking around with them. I had the spider. After not having played the hunter for a couple of months and logging in and summoning my spider, I saw the fel glow disappeared :(. There was also a hydra categorised as crocolisk among that sholazar quest. So hunters could get a hydra many many years before WoD.
there is also ghostwolf tranformation from the wolf of ashenvale, near the barrens, yet i gues you cant tame it because it take about 50% healt to get the transformation to work, meby you cn glitch it with toy ?
I have the ashenvale wolf in its ghost wolf form. I think it was done using the abandon-last-second trick. It definitely used to work but I’m not sure about now. It’s considered an appearences buff though so any arena or timewalking dungeons will revert.. so it unfortunately lives at my stables hah.
Indeed it was! Ghostpaw Alphas are "fragile" appearance buff tames, in that they'll lose the appearance if they so much as **die** once. It's interesting, that now they have an additional sha effect on top of their ghost form.
There is actually going to be a new one soon, currently the rare mob in the molten front "karkin" has a bugged model and looks like something completely different (and otherwise unobtainable). This is currently known by blizz, but as far as i am aware it has yet to be patched out.
I seen a hunter with the emerald dreamway pet when the spectral Griffin pets came out ..really cool...would have loved to get that one ..and the fire patch
Garwal was actually completely removed in the end they just turned all tamed worgen into the wolf form. Many of us hunters were pissed at the time and some said this meant Worgen were going to be playable. A Blue denied this rather then a few months later we got the Cata announcement.
My best friend stopped playing at wrath and that's when I went the hardest, we both played since vanilla and he thinks Wotlk was where WoW died. I think it's where WoW was at it's greatest, I weep for him that he could not appreciate the best video game ever made at it's greatest patch (he claims the PVP in wrath was shit, he's more pvp I'm more PVE)
David Davidson it was the best days. Flying mounts in world, first new class big new continent. It got a little outrageous after. But I stopped playing during cact.
Bull shit every next path was new and bring something BETTER . LEGION kill wotlk in subscription more ppl play wow now then EVER ! You like wotlk becouse you play on woltk a lot meybe you have there your first good guild but wotlk was not so good like you think . Your time on wotlk meybe was a good but not expansion
I WISH I Had Played WOW From Vanilla Days, I Didnt Even Encounter The Game Till End Of BC/Beginning Of WOTLK Missed Out On All These Pets! :( Glad For All Who DO Have Them/Some Of Them!
Garwal was removed (in the worgen form), I had him. They flip-flopped back and forth but they just turned him back into the wolf in the end. It made sense once Worgens became a race but at the time we didn't know that was the plan.
I did not see a mention of the 3 headed Hydra although because it was apparently labelled as a crocolisk when tamed maybe that was what was meant by the spirit crocodile which was mentioned. Just that it is in appearance still a three headed hydra once tamed. If I remember it may have been the result of taming that spirit crocolisk; but my memory is getting a bit foggy these days.
it was recrute a friend for the pup. u make a new account invite a "friend (hunter)" to warp to you then he tames it u then "buy not buy" that account and link it to your account through blizzard support merging the new toon to your account and it keeps the pet now u have it on your main account.
Gezzarak the Huntress is still my favorite rare pet. It took two extra people to help the hunter and you had to do it *just right.* But it was worth it, because she was, at the time, the only purple warp stalker with green stripes, AND she made a big orange flash when you summoned her. You can't tame her at all now, and they removed the flash effect for the hunters who had her tamed. Helping my friend tame her back in BC remains one of my favorite memories.
Blizzard have added a lot of challenging to tame pets like Fenryr but nothing can beat having *fire* as a pet. Not a fire elemental, just fire.
Roots Lifted Tallstrider and a raptor. And yeah, that's why blizz fixed this sort of really fast as a lot of "us" abused the hell out of this in PvP :/
Deus ex vesania yeah that shit would be annoying as hell on the other end.
Damn i nearly cried... feel ur pain. I know blizz can be so shitty sometimes... :(
Awesome and sad story man. Adventures in WoW bring a lot of good memories. Lok'tar Ogar and for the Horde!
May you to remeet in the after life, my friend
What a wonderful sad story. Thank you for sharing.
@@manuzitz 😂😂😂😂
Omg I’m dying 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes absolutely I agree with Manuel here, it was magic, we definitely had no aps to help it was just run around and look around or there was a Wow Wikipedia online, check this out kids we Had TO READ what was going on. Lol, there wasn't really anyone showing you how to farm for gold or where and how to on Hunter pets on TH-cam at the time not really. Not till at least 2009 maybe...so nope we had idea like, hey, let's go see how far out we can swim in the SW harbor before we die of fatigue, OKAY lol and someone was like what's fatigue lol,
Back when it was simple it was easy user friendly and glitchy as hell.
@@manuzitz
Amen Brother, read my comment in here, but as a fellow OGer, I was remembering having to buy Bullets for my rifle or arrows for my bow, or ruin or glyph stones in order for my Mage to open a portal, and we didn't have TH-cam guides like today we went to Wow Wikipedia and took out the readers AND HAD TO READ what to do lol.
Vaal I remember that post. I actually had to get a buddy to help since I was such a low level lol
Sadly, the internet is a silly place filled with stupid people. If you try to be helpful. You'll get mocked, and usually voted down into oblivion. Just for the lulz.
I'm devastated to find out that the emerald dream pup was tameable and I missed it
SAME
It was so hard to tame and blizzard fixed it in 1 day
Doesn't matter as they have removed the pet and only Hati has that look (unless you change it). So with BFA we will loose hati and with it emerald dream pup will be lost sadly......
I have the pup on hati and I'm not taking my hunter forward into BFA so I can keep it. its too cute to loose
Raymond Clark sadly if they remove artifacts i dont think that will work since hati comes from it...ffs blizzard
This wasn't too far away from the announcement of Cata.
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
I miss being able to skin Worgen. 😏
Do you remember what patch you got him and when he was reverted back to worg form?
Sadly, I don't remember. It was so long ago that it is no longer in my forum history. At the time, there were a few threads on the WoW forums talking about the change, and I commented in at least one of them.
I was able to get the Worgen as well. I can't remember what year it was off the top of my head, but I do recall that the method was cracked over the July 4th long weekend, so they couldn't nerf it to all heck till the next Tuesday. I had a full weekend to enjoy my most amazing pet. I'm still crushed that they took the Worgen skin off him...
The moral of this video blizzard hates fun.
James Goines /facedesk
they don't hate fun, i think it is cool that people get to have something exclusive that is not brought back later.
However, if they remake them models and just because they are RARE, you kept them for any reason, yeah, you have a well-deserved treasure!
of course blizzard hate fun, they hate pvpers.
He's been "overshadowed" since the spirit beast was introduced with the same model, but I can use him in all spec's.Course, today's hunter really doesn't notice... or care...
If I had a pile of fire my life would be complete!
haha no doubt!!
Out of all possible pets in WOW, i think that one is the best one.
Bonus points but that fucker was untargetable in pvp too. Was very sad when they turned my Fire pet into a talstrider.
You forgot Lupus. The old wolf from classic wow that hits for shadow dmg!
Derrick Dunn, you still can get him, but he doesn’t do shadow dmg anymore.
I camped him forever. So happy when I finally got him.
I miss when WoW had elemental damage like that
@@c4_murloc782 It still does. There just isn't resistance gear anymore.
I think the shadow dmg was intended back then. Like broken tooth having an idioticly fast attack speed. The rares are still exist i think but they are regular wolf and cat now nothing special.
Wasnt there a nightelf in bear form in ashenvale that was tameable for a little while in vanilla?
change hunter class name to Domme blizzard
I would have loved it if opposite faction druids in animal form were tamable by hunters. Would definitely make druids rather careful while fighting hunters. I would assume as a counter, the druid being tamed should be able to change back to their humanoid form. But if they were foolish enough to stay in animal form during the tame ....
Ganz Bestimmt lmao
@Ganz Bestimmt salty druid main discovered
Ganz Bestimmt - Blizzard needs to implement a Diablo hardcore mode
I have the lone hunter with the sword stuck to his head, i always kept him inside my stable, collecting dust but he is still my prized pet!
So did i, but what he said about being able to keep the pet with the sword is a lie, My wolf lost his sword sometime in pandaria :S
Mine still has the sword.
Mine still has sword. It’s always one of the pets I carry.
My long-retired Hunter has the Grimtotem Spirit Guides. Was worth it IMHO. Having him around as MM or Surv would confuse folks.
Damn... Forsaken Hunter with Ooze pet is a nice idea.
Jesi Sunstrider I have a forsaken hunter with the green grub pet. 👍
love it when people make proper character concepts like this that fits the world
Imagine being a Forsaken hunter with the Worgen pet
I still have my oil stained wolf and lone Hunter. I wish I had to foresight to keep my disease cloud bear but he was on the problem side because his AOE disease cloud actually dealt damage, so I felt he definitely would be deleted or something by Blizz so I released him to ensure my other pets weren’t touched in a reset or something. I remember managing to ask a friendly Horde on my alt to help me with the tame. He was so nice, willing to stay to coordinate with me on the pet. I really wish I got his nickname down
i remember in classic see a hunter with Rare Pet still have the Silver Elite Frame on. This is really Rare.
I had a magazine from tbc which said you could tame the orcs outside the horde camp in hellfire.
This got patched before I got my hunter to those levels.
"Yeah i just recently got my new [insert cool pet here], what was your pet again?"
"Oh mine? Watch."
*a small area on the ground spontaneously combusts and a pet's name appears above it*
"*THIS* is my pet, it's name is Gerald"
WRATH2501 Thanks for this! I just got my spirit boar. I'll bet Blizz will end up patching this too, so I'm glad I got it in time.
-alfie bond you can find it in the back of the cave after killing bat two pathways open one to the boss the other to the boars
Awesome, I'm gonna try and get one
Wasn't expecting to see you here
Me?
You can get the boar elsewhere in the instance, all the tamed Garwals were turned into regular wolves, and the "fire patch" pets were turned into regular raptors.
the flame patch raptor was hotfixed when people in battlegrounds where attacked by it and almost unable to target the pet. blizzard removed all, atleast my, flame patch looks from them I believe. I still have the oil stained wolf, the wolf with the sword in his head( named it excalibur), there was also a wolf in ashenvale that when near dead it would change into a spirit wolf like the totem one in your list which I have tamed via the good old pet abandon macro
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
I logged two months ago, and my pig was still on fire
i've got the same boar
Mine is still on fire. Named him Bacon :-)
Mine's still burning proudly. Called him "MakinBacon"
Teigan it was just profession data. Not characters. You are mistaken
If I'm mistaken, why did three characters disappear completely and irrevocably from my account and why did I have a months long exchange with customer service about the whole ordeal? I think I have some idea of what happened.
Teigan of course we believe you
I had the oil wolf but one day when i spawned it the oil slick look was gone :( i was so disappointed
Teigan compulsive lies get you no where
I got the Emerald Dreamway pup, it was a Druid and a Warlock who RAFed, made a group in group finder and summoned people in. I will enjoy my pup until Blizz removes the power of my artifact weapon, and with it, my Hati puppy.
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
And now your dreamway p;up is gone forever ;(
You did need a warlock to summon you there through recruit a friend, they also turned the puppies into wolves but if you turned hati into the pup you got to keep a pup version of hati.
It's going to be sad when Legion is over and Hati is gone permanently, along with that rare tame.
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
yeah..I have my Hati turned into the pup. I'm planning on leveling another hunter just so I don't loose my artifact weapon and of course loose Hati..
This is all crazy nostalgia. I remember seeing people with so many of these. Love it!
Brings back so many memories of hunting for the perfect pet lol hunters are too much fun
thanks for the view and comment Jimbo - really appreciate the feedback and continued support!!! :)
Yeah, after my indefinite break in the game, my hunter was my everything. I had every class leveled up, but my hunter was my go to for anything.
Missing one gem here, the Ghost Cat of Darkshore. For sure deserves a spot on the list.
I still have mine!
Still obtainable! :D
Depends if your talking about the rarespawn or the one that rarely spawned from the statue things?
Andrew Lietz I still have the rare spawn from the statue. I think that was removed before cata. I was thinking this one too.
If you're talking about the one from the statues.. that was never removed.
I got that one :D
Its a great pet! I think I've only seen maybe one other person on my server with it. It's real noisy though, it hisses every few seconds :P
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
oh yeah i have that one too lol
Yeah. I dropped mine back in wotlk because it was noisy as hell. Kept the ooze though.
Loved the last one. A running FLAME is a great pet to have.
Was turned into a regular raptor shortly after.
I remember getting the ghost hydra back in Wrath when it was labeled as a Crocolisk.
My fave pet is still a regular Ashenvale gray wolf that I tamed because it reminded me of my dog (who has since passed away of course)
They need to bring this pet back, there are no cute pets in this game for hunters to use =\
wow thats so cool you randomly found the video haha - how did you find it? thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
The bubblehead puppy though...still mad it was removed, and I am going to miss it when they scrap the artifacts in BFA :( - great video btw :D
thanks man youre a legend!
My Hati is still an Emerald Dreamway Pup
I had all of those except for the cutie wolf and the boar. Too bad I haven't played WoW in ages... I also remember quite a lot of other "aura bugged" pets that you could grab before it got patched. For instance, there was like a poisonous/deceased bear in Felwood if I remember correctly.
When Chromaggus became tameable in WotLK, his roar and stomps could be heard throughout Ironforge. It actually became really annoying after a while.
i have the spirit boar on my hunter, had no idea where i got him (since i stopped playing for quite some time) also had no idea he was unobtainable now
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
He is obtainable, there is one in the old giant boar bosses cave.
3:57 You can aggro it, I see, but can you make a good Discard Warlock with it?
I got the dreamway pup, but after a few weeks blizzard turned all of them into normal grey wolves. HOWEVER if you, like me, transmogged your Hati to look like your pet, you still kept him in form of your Hati.
I had that worgen pet. When Cata came out, they turned him into a default wolf model. I was so sad about it. It was irritating to me because other hunters got to keep their odd pets, like the ooze, and hydras, and worms, but god forbid i enslave an alliance.
good video bro!
i actually didnt know some of those pets you've mentioned even existed
maybe because ive never played a hunter before
plz do a video of rare mounts too :)
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
well the rarest mount is owned by one person. (he got it by mistake from a GM during vanilla)
The AQ opening event mount. (a max of 1person/server at that time could get it)
You forgot the third spirit beast, the spirit hydra was also tameable in scholozar
There was also an Burning Boar, wich u could tame at the Tauren starting zone similar to the Explodet Raptor stuff
I still have this one
Exploding Raptor, Green Maggot, Ooze(!!!) and Pet Worgen - OMG this was AWESOME!
thanks for sharing bro i appreciate the comment :)
And now everyone can get Hati loool
My oil stained wolf/bird still exist today, same with the sword in head wolf.
Was wondering what had happened to my oil stained wolf. I hadn't logged on the hunter since wrath, logged on the other day for giggles, gone :(
Neither oil-stained wolf nor lone hunter were given the Garwal treatment.
I'm never using mine for fear of him loosing his flames, but he's nice to confuse friends and other hunters :D
they should have done more of these. kept them as rare as mounts
ps never saw that last one coming. bet who ever has it is super popular haha
they make all the time new secrets in game
Nah, tried it. It reverts back to a regular wolf when you tame it, sadly.
Hey Robert thanks for sharing your experience..I wish I had even one of these pets haha..what pet do you use most mate?
Kargoz throughout legion ive used skoll the most ..still love this guy ..
awesome bro I have skoll as well..been going strong with him since WOTLK..camped so hard to get that blue bugger haha
Garwal was actually completely removed in the end they just turned all tamed worgen into the wolf form. Many of us hunters were pissed at the time and some said this meant Worgen were going to be playable. A Blue denied this rather then a few months later we got the Cata announcement.
Wotlk was the best days
Kih L p
My best friend stopped playing at wrath and that's when I went the hardest, we both played since vanilla and he thinks Wotlk was where WoW died. I think it's where WoW was at it's greatest, I weep for him that he could not appreciate the best video game ever made at it's greatest patch (he claims the PVP in wrath was shit, he's more pvp I'm more PVE)
David Davidson it was the best days. Flying mounts in world, first new class big new continent. It got a little outrageous after. But I stopped playing during cact.
Cactusclysm
Bull shit every next path was new and bring something BETTER .
LEGION kill wotlk in subscription more ppl play wow now then EVER ! You like wotlk becouse you play on woltk a lot meybe you have there your first good guild but wotlk was not so good like you think . Your time on wotlk meybe was a good but not expansion
This was actually an interesting video. Haven't played for years but my first class was Hunter.
No burning boar?!
Burning Boar is the best out of all the tame macro rarities!
Had it and named Bacon
As far as the oozling croc for Number 7, you could also get that type from Vanilla in Wetlands. It however also has an arrow sticking out of its head.
There was a bug changing ur hati pet to a purple demon. Like ilidan lookalike but blizz hard fixed that it was my only rare pet ;(
I did not see a mention of the 3 headed Hydra although because it was apparently labelled as a crocolisk when tamed maybe that was what was meant by the spirit crocodile which was mentioned. Just that it is in appearance still a three headed hydra once tamed. If I remember it may have been the result of taming that spirit crocolisk; but my memory is getting a bit foggy these days.
There's an orange maggot with big teeth that used to be tameable to, I have it and the green one.
two?
Yeah the green one is gone too!!
In the dread wastes, yeah
it was recrute a friend for the pup. u make a new account invite a "friend (hunter)" to warp to you then he tames it u then "buy not buy" that account and link it to your account through blizzard support merging the new toon to your account and it keeps the pet now u have it on your main account.
All I wanted to do, back in Cataclysm, was to be a Worgen hunter. Reach lvl80. Tame Skoll.
Name it *Mom*
Gezzarak the Huntress is still my favorite rare pet. It took two extra people to help the hunter and you had to do it *just right.* But it was worth it, because she was, at the time, the only purple warp stalker with green stripes, AND she made a big orange flash when you summoned her. You can't tame her at all now, and they removed the flash effect for the hunters who had her tamed. Helping my friend tame her back in BC remains one of my favorite memories.
I still have that pet
Damn dude, can't believe how good quality your channel is with only 13k subs. Consider it 13001!
The puppy was obtainable by a warlock with RaF. Anyone who had the puppy had it changed to a standard elwynn wolf.
