I didn’t realize how impressive the tree and plant physics were in farcry 2, seems like they went completely backwards in terms of environmental realism.
Crazy how much quality you can put into one aspect of a game when you don't have 1,000 more areas to focus on. FC2 was ahead of its time, sure, but other than the highlights shown here, there wasn't much else to the game. Fun as hell, but shallow compared to modern Farcrys
actually in FC6's tropical setting there is a lot of moistoure so it explains why plants don't catch on fire like in the dry savannah of FC2 tough the twig shooting part is kind of bad because that was a downgrade and atleast they made somethin' better than FC5
I also love the way the reload animations becomes clunky when your weapon starts to degrade .And our vision gets blurred after sprinting for a while Far cry 2's realism is still unmatched.
Indeed thats why its game that you either like or dont like in the franchise...but one thing is for sure, everyone who feels like Far Cry has become too much of the same old and never played Far Cry 2 should check it out exactly because aside from original (and its various console versions) and maybe Primal and Blood Dragon, it definitely stands out as different Far Cry game and certainly the most "realistic" in every way possible...settings, physics, graphics, characters, story. Thats why some may find it boring/not liking it but because its the most realistic, most grounded game in the series and one that also has most "unforgiving" feel to its game world, its my favorite along with the original game
Well, the blurred vision was due to malaria, and I don't want that to come back, not as a guaranteed status. It would be okay if you could potentially get sick but cure yourself.
True enough... using fire in Far Cry 2 was crazy af, I only used on last resource because once you set things on fire there you never know how it gonna turn out and odds are that you gonna be trapped on it real soon
hope FC7 have building destruction physics, for something new i think they need to make plot about country invasion, Afganistan reference, but i think American gonna hate if we help Tal1ban lol
@@joh_games2052 agree, ubisoft is more about quantity and Rockstar is about quality, but i love both, i play Ubisoft games while waiting for Rockstar games, i'm casual gamer so i more into playing new game after i'm finish the story and ubisoft deliver my needs
@@ryndaman2855 bro everyone will hate if we’re helping the taliban in game and their seen as just rebels pushed up against a wall. The taliban are savages, and everyone sees that.
FC6 looks realistic - FC2 is realistic I’d love a FC2 remaster (just fix some repetitive gameplay issues) - that game was so far ahead of its time. The Africa vibe was very haunting + immersive. Just replayed it recently and really enjoyed it
Pre-2012 it was practically unimaginable to see reused assets/animations or little to no development in technology, AI and mechanics. The games from 2006 to 2010 were consistently pushing the envelope
At the time Far Cry 2 and Crysis were games that blew me away with their graphics and open world gameplay. Never before or after have I watched gameplay and be as immersed in how realistic/immersive they seemed. Coincidentally both games came from the original Far Cry, and both used updated/modified versions of Crytek's game engine too. My favorite aspect of both engines is the AI intelligence, they are unpredictable and have better capabilities than expected, like the ability to see the player at great distances. Both games have AI that call in reinforcements with flare guns, take cover from sniper fire, or ambush the player in teams. Its an experience to snipe a checkpoint in FC2 and watch the enemy take cover, then get the idea to rush your position with vehicles to close the distance and catch you by surprise, or in Crysis where I flanked a patrol where after they got their bearings, I kid you not they took the time to line up in an ambush formation and sprayed their aks into the jungle while marching forward in unison to cover every inch of where I would have been. The AI were scary at times in those games.
Well games have only really started to plateau in quality over the past few years as you can only innovate so much when the current technology being used has barely changed.
Still a downgrade tho🤦🏾♂️explains to me how the tree didn’t catch on fire and burn when he threw the Molotov, and why did the rocket he shot from the rpg flew in to space😂that’s Ubisoft for you.
@@crobiyt3346 Absolutely a downgrade from the physics of Far Cry 2 but I don't think mainstream games are gonna have physics that good again. Compared to Far Cry 5 though where a car slightly touching a bush/tree would cause it to instantly explode into debris I'm very pleased 😂
@@crobiyt3346 Actually the tree didn't burn because air is really moist in the jungle area of Far Cry 6 making it harder for things to catch fire. Far Cry 2 takes place in Africa where fire is super easy to spread due to lack of moisture. You're right about that RPG thing though.
They definitely need to hire new people with soul over on Ubisoft & get rid of the executive ones that make consumers hate the company But it definitely blows that Ubisoft has many international divisions, but only those division's work together for specific games like Fc6 & Ac Revelations (look it up) But for Fc6 it was made by cooperation of Ubisoft Berlin, Shanghai & Kyev something - as well as Montreal or Quebec (Honestly - Quebec is the lousy one out of the bunch) & it doesn't help that Ubisoft will still keep microtransations in future game's.) All in all - Ubisoft has to get rid of their bad rep or get inevitably bankrupt out of meaningful characters & story ideas all of the money in the world can't make gamers interested in their products for long... *sigh* wish all of the gamers thought like this 😔😪
Far Cry 2 is just one of those games that I feel so scared to play because, when you are in a firefight you don't know where is the enemy there's no Minimap to tell you where they are and you are in a thick jungle (but your not always in the jungle thought there's also a desert) and you can't tell where they are. And the soundtrack to is just scary.
Plus: there's no cover mechanic-that's no#1, and the enemy could see you through thick foliage from half the map away. I owned it, it really wasn't a survivable game. Far Cry 3, gave us those mechanics. Cover, especially from III on: I use it ALL the time, as you would in real life. It's even better in VI. They keep polishing it, it now recognises cover further out than than even FCV, so you can ADS 5 metres out from cover crouched, walk towards it, and you'll peek over the top for example. It's a bit slower to react as it trys to figure out if you want to peek over or around, but it's improved: and makes gunfights with no HUD AMAZING. Guns feel better too, as does the shooting. Playing VI on base PS4 btw. Looks better than Far Cry V did, sounds really good.
It's a massive improvement from Far Cry 5 but Far Cry 2 still reigns supreme. One thing about Far Cry 2 fire physics is that wind affects fire propagation. If wind is blowing towards the enemies you can unleash hell upon them with a Molotov. (You probably knew this already) Ubisoft it's about the damn time to get a new engine. Naughty Dog or Rockstar or DICE will happily lend out a hand.
The thing is, they had all that realism all the way back in FC2. They don't need a new engine, just more attention to detail and the time to properly fine tune things. One thing I noticed while replaying FC2 recently is the way the map is almost always traversable by car, but if you want to stay off the roads to avoid attracting enemies, you'll have to constantly weave in and out of trees and rocks to make it through the jungle without crashing. It just made me think of the dozens of games where straying from the main path (even when you're encouraged to do so) results in terain that has just been slapped together without much thought. The badlands if cyberpunk 2077 are a good example. The area feels unique and interesting for all of about 2 minutes until your vehicle gets stuck to an invisible piece of scenery and you're forced to walk for 5 minutes back to a fast travel point or somewhere with npcs to steal a car. Meanwhile in FC2, you hardly ever use the fast travel system because of the limited number of bus stops but you never get bored of traveling from point A to point B. You often crashed into rocks or trees and sometimes it was better to abandon the car and walk the rest of the way, but it never feels like a punishment since with a bit of care and a good memory you can take all kinds of shortcuts through the jungle without crashing. This dynamic also gives the different vehicles more of a purpose, an armoured truck might have better protection and fire power, but a quad bike can get you around obstacles that the NPCs can't manage in their jeeps (they are terrible drivers...) Its little things like this that imo really show the hard work put in to the game. The devs clearly spent a lot of time after they had something "good enough" to refine it into a great and unique experience. Far Cry 3 brought some great mechanics relating ti moving around the map and giving more intersting behaviour to animals, but it does feel like they started to focus more of story telling and aesthetics over gameplay mechanics. I don't think that was a mistake either, they pretty much nailed it with FC2 so why fix what isn't broken? Its just a shame some of the finer details have slipped in the later titles because a lot of gamers played FC2 and assumed that every game would strive for that level of realism and immersion from then on, which clearly didn't stick. Obviously a game being fun is more important than its being realistic, but FC2 was definitely ahead of its time in the way it commits to the 1st person view point of your character throughout. The game never resorts to using deus ex machina as a resolution for the fact that you'rr playing a game. People who say it was overrated just don't understand how rare it was/is to put so much effort in to small details that the majority of players will never directly notice. Even the enemy AI is better than most other open world games that have come out since, including other Far Cry games. I could probably rant about it for another couple paragraphs but I think i'll just go play it instead.
@@SineN0mine3 Spot on mate. You explained it so well. They did put in an incredible amount of effort to create the world of Far Cry 2. For a game that is approximately 4 GB, the stuff was a miracle. Just like you said, people thought this is how games will proceed with improved graphics but I think developers started trading/replacing immersion or gameplay mechanics with visuals/graphics. A lot of games do prove that we don't have to lose anything. The Last Of Us Part franchise is a great example. The 2nd game improved with graphics but Naughty Dog improved the gameplay and the attention to detail as well. The problem with Ubisoft nowadays is that they don't playtest their games that well. Odyssey and Valhalla are just absolute monstrosities and Far Cry 5 was so abysmal with the gameplay that I couldn't even finish it at the time. This begs a question, If Ubisoft works so hard to create a story, an open-world (a not well-defined open world but still), characters, banger soundtracks, best villains then why not go the extra mile and put some effort into gameplay/combat/details/ and those god damn PS3 era cutscenes. I mean I get if you are releasing an open-world game every year then that's not possible but hold back a bit. Take your time with the world that you create and turn it into wonder. I genuinely thought Far Cry VI was gonna be like 2 but nope it's morphing into Just Cause.
@@dieterrosswag933 those jungle man, those african jungles has so many stories, me and my brother will always have fond memories with Far Cry 2 (3 & 4 too but Far Cry 2 memories is something special)
I hope Ubisoft releases some kind of "immersive mode" like they did with ghost recon breakpoint without gear levels health bars too much hud stuff and bullet sponge enemies. The world and details are too nice to be played like this arcady preset
Far Cry 2 is something else. People hate it because they want to see it as an arcade. Your guns are sh*t, malaria is f*ck, driving is harsh, fire kills you, everybody wants to kill you, you're a nobody, hace to work for money, no quicktravel... It's harsh, but if you overcome all of it you sense like you're there, not as a superhero you're there because is kinda real.
There is no excuse, I don’t get why these developers cant just continue to improve these details instead of just throwing them away. Why are Far Cry 2 and Crysis 1 the only games that have effects like these?
@Veggie Halliday That a game from 2008 has better details and physics than a game from 2021, yeah there's definitely no excuse. But explain us why there should be some instead of make us believe that you know something about game development.
FC2 was much more about survival than fun. There was a palpable sense of loneliness that pervaded throughout, so patience and determination were essential ingredients if the player wanted to get the most out of the game. Also each destination was unique. No cut and paste camps to have to keep infiltrating, instead we got villages, towns, desert outposts, oil refineries, and so on. I loved it for its realism, enjoyed FC3 in a different way, but I've not been back since due to the predictability. Was hoping on 6 being a return to form... Looks amazing though.
FC2 was definitely ahead of its time. An old game like that can still compete with a modern game in many different ways. Honestly though I was pleasantly surprised how the trees in FC6 reacted to the grenade by falling over completely. They just disappear too quickly. FC2 remake or remastered would be so awesome to have.
wtf i never played far cry 2 , that is crazy amount of Physics and detailes for a game from 2008 it is even better than far cry 6 at some aspects what the hell
It's a game with some of the most realistic physics and attention to detail, wonder if they knew when they made the game that it would still beat games over 10 years ahead
Far Cry 2 as many other wrote has physics that are still unmatched in current FC games or games in general, but other than that i was really impressed with minimal amount of hud on the screen and also the "pull out a physical map" system which didn't require you to pause the game to look at it, of course now there are minimaps, but that doesn't change the fact that you could've simply switched from local map to the whole region. Tbh this kind of real time map system has been used in Death Stranding and MGSV, which i both absolutely love.
Nowadays advertising has a bigger budget than the development of the games. And it shows. 9/10 games released by AAA companies are C grade. We haven’t seen the true next gen capabilities yet. Imagine what rockstar did on a ps4…
What Rockstar did on ps4 is an old game with insane graphic and dialogues, structurally the gameplay is outdated and pretty weak. Whatever, using a Ubisoft game as scale of comparison is useless as Ubisoft games are a joke.
Hold on. Even back then games had a bigger budget than development. Capcom games, Halo series, Final Fantasy, GTA, just to mention a few. Advertising will always be expensive for "triple a" games.
People will come and say "Oh far Cry 2 is amazing, best game ever,Far Cry 6 bad" bruh most of these people haven't even played Far Cry 2,sure,these details are indeed cool, but you easily forget that once playing as the game as a REALLY repetitive gameplay, just the same thing over and over and basically no history, just one interesting character.
They forget something different is not something bad like some say gta v is such a down grade after gta 4 or gta 4 is downgrade after gta Sa but all three are different. Some don't liked AC unity and Syndicate when ubisoft took a turn.
Repetitive? Have you ever played far cry 5 before 6? Nearly the same game. First, second and third far cry were diffrent so thats why people had no problems, where now people are getting same game with some minor features that even Ubisoft have to do video about incase you missed them.
@@justenjoy9545 bcuz ubishit makes minimum 2-3 with same fkn gameplay just like ac3/4/rogue is similar.,..ac unity/syndicate same....ac origins/odyssey/Valhalla and fc3/4 same..fc5/newdawn/6 same
Nope it wont sadly...overall most game developers these days dont care to put too much time and effort to ingame physics and to environmental details... If you ask me things like destructable environments, fire spreading somewhat realisicly, weapons jamming etc add so much into the immersion/atmosphere but sadly most game developers think that most gamers dont really care about /appreciate such things
A rusted RPG can also sometimes fire poor rockets that will drop to the ground right out if the tube, beyblades itself while spewing fire all over the place before it explodes
Another cool detail is the bullet tips color changes when you switch them from standard bullets to incendiary to explosive ect you can see them during reload
I am still playing FC2 with the realism Mod and it makes everything great. The colors are vibrant and the gameplay is just amazing. Things act how you expect them to, the rocket comes back, the bullets go throw thin materials, fire propagates, wind reacts with fire, wind makes vegetation move, explosions break objects around and more. It's such an alive game. And it looks super clean too and you can easily play it today.
Bruh I sunk 16 hours into Far Cry 2 when Crowbcat made that video and it is one of the most brutal games to play. The voice acting and story are god aweful, the weapons arent fun, and the AI was still over sensitive (got spoted over a hill from the ememy). Im not trying to be brutal, I just dont think little insignificant details matter much when your game is boring to play
Agreed. It's fun to jump in for an hour or so every week but I can't fathom playing for long stretches because it's so incredibly dull (even with a high res texture pack). I thought 3 was overrated too tho so I'm in the minority.
Fc2 is good but boring. Less animals, no npcs in the world, no side quest, the world is full enemys, missions boring. In gameplay problem is cant shot when driving (same in fc3), enemys spawn so fast, and stealth kill broken. But i still like this game physics and realistics style gameplay.
That is my experience in FC2. At least, most of us here can agree that we do appreciate the detail they put in FC2, but we also don't like most other thing than detail which is gameplay, story and more that may be related
What I'm getting from this is FC2 looks pretty amazing for a 13 year old game. While F6 looks "eh ok" for a new game. Some of these I literally had to look in the top right corner to know which was the new one. 😑
literally bullshit im not defending the new one in any way but there is a clear graphical improvement, u just need to climb out of your own asshole to realise this
This video just confirms why I love Far Cry 2 so much, even though it's such an old game. - Far Cry 6 has a lot of extra crap that completely ruins the game. Ubisoft focuses on nonsense like jetpacks, backpack rocket launchers, etc. - Then they forget about the essential details like in Far Cry 2. - Far Cry 2 deserves a remaster.
Actually they still have those physics, but theyr rather not use it for the sake of stability. Fc2 back in the day is unstable af especially if you're using console, still runs better than crysis doe.
@CKS1949 I think it was more so the lack of traversal options. I doubt the world was anywhere near the size of any modern far cry games. We just have much faster ways to travel in the newer games
I look at these far cry 2/crysis vs farcry 5 or 6 and realize my intuition about not really missing out on anything significant at all in terms if visuals or gameplay are right
I can only imagine that if Ubisoft kept going the way FC2 was going, nobody was ever gonna be able to play their games due to probably huge amounts of GB to show you all the physics. Probably they realized and said 'yeah we're not going that way, we're gonna sacrifice realism in order to get more players being able to play our games'. That's the only explanation. I bought FC2 today and it needs less than 4GB of space tho... Physics were great but of course looking it back, it needs more textures and treatment of light, colours and shadows. Amazing game!
I always love these “vs far cry 2” comparisons, but it’s disingenuous to think of these as “better or worse”. Far cry 2 had some VERY specific objectives that no other game in the series has had, and that’s the reason for these changes. It’s not lazy or “worse”, it’s different. I would LOVE for Ubi to make a new game that is more like FC2, but they just have different goals and priorities for the series. And let’s not pretend that FC2 was some flawless masterpiece that hold up today. It’s an incredible, unique game, but it has some deep flaws as well that have only aged worse with time.
@@mauro100 it's not ridiculous, it's intention. FC2's physics are incredible impressive even today, but those great physics came at the cost of a lot of otheraspects of gameplay, like mission structure, world variety and density, and pacing. The physics themselves also greatly change how a game feels and how legible it is. A lot of theeffects become visually overwhelming and hard to navigate, because that was the point of that game. But it's not the point of the series anymore. It's all a give and take. Ubi put all their chips into immersion for FC2 in a way they haven't since. Stepping away from that is what helped them expand on the all aspects of the game and make FC3. It's not better or worse, and its certainly not ridiculous. It's simple project management.
Of course it wasn't flawless, it's one of my favourite games and even so it's still easy to complain about it. But it does some things very, very well, whereas FC3 and the others after it are fine with being kind of mediocre in almost every respect.
@@GoneInABlaiz we’re gonna have to disagree on that. FC3 was a defining game of the series, but it’s story, and storytelling, is awful. Yes Vaas is a charismatic character, but literally everything else is various combinations of underdeveloped, cliche, contrived, or borderline racist. I’ve heard some good faith reads if the game that make a lot of inferences and leaps to make it all feel more cohesive and less offense, but the game itself doesn’t put forth that effort. It’s a blast to play, but it’s a terrible story to play a part of. *in my opinion*
@@dv8754 so you mean to say that ubisoft in 2021 can't replicate the physics they already successfully implemented in a 13 year old game? Surely it can't be that time consuming for them
Buena comparacion :)
As much as I love the sheer gritty realism FC2 has compared to it's successors It does lack one thing; water splash. There's a shack you need to go for a side-mission with waterfall and small lake at the bottom and it's pretty high up there. I had this idea of perfect stealth run: Sneak in, snipe the mark with Dart Rifle, then jump down the water. Did all of them and were expecting a big splash as with any other game when you fall down high enough but instead all you get is a wimpy plop, like you only jump in from side of a pool.
Yeah problem is that Havoc wasn't very good at water effects at the time so you have almost no water effects because they use the base Durina engine for that (I believe). Also water require lots of particle effects and if you want it volumetric then most of HW in 2008 would struggle. Water physics became easier with more GPU improvements but FC2 had all the physics they could squeeze from Havoc and Durina. Even in 2008 it was still about pushing the possible.
I loved FC2 but for me it was a horror... the game was scary, I felt like there in the dark jungle night every stranger could trapped me... and snipers, they would spot and hit me from miles away even if I think they don't know I'm close ... 😬😂👻
FC2: Throw grenade, boom, branches, dust and leaves everywhere, tree stays up. The Tree: I'm damage, but still here. FC6: Throw grenade, boom, dust and leaves here and there, tree falls down. The tree: Adios *Fades into another dimension, 1 second after the explosion.* FC2: RPG flies for as long as it has fuel and velocity, then falls back to earth. FC6: RPG: Look out Mars, here I come. FC2: Plants: Bullets hurt. FC6: Plants: I have evolved past being bothered by such petty constructs. FC2: Bullets go through thin materials that they can penetrate. FC6: Bullets enter another quantum reality after hitting even the smallest sheet of paper. FC2: Smokey the bear is crying. FC6: Someky the bear still cries, but only half as much. FC2: Physically picking up guns. FC6: Teleporting all items into their bag of holding. FC2: Cars are pretty strong. FC6: Cars are actually tanks. The rest of it is at least close enough.
The fact the enemies don't drop weapons for you to pick up is a huge and unneccesary downgrade, especially in a game where you're supposed to be a guerillia fighter against a dictatorship; captured enemy weapons are a huge part in assymetrical warfare campaigns.
Yeah unneccesary ,but it isn't really needed as now you have a pistol with inifinite ammo and you can always change to any weapon you ever had in your menu
@@punishedvenomsnake7307 still its one of those features that makes you wonder "why did they even bother with the effort to get rid of a feature all previous games had".
@@_UNISTAR_ you really think taking away dropped weapons changes the game play loop so much that it's a fresh experience again? You know... you weren't required to pick them up in the first place. It's just there.
They probably think it's a waste of space because no one uses the enemies weapons amyways, but that's not true. I love doing runs where you can only use what you find. And no removing it doesn't "change the gameplay loop" If anything it makes it more repetitive because now doing that kind of run is impossible. So it ends up limiting the ways you can play
FC2 it feels more hardcore, why he didn't show how the guns get old and stuck while shooting/reloading , and how you can fix them it was one of the best features in video games so far; I like it a lot
When you spring out of cover and your pistol jams and you have to make the split second descion to unjam it and try to shoot before the other guy, or swap to your machette and chop him to bits. Priceless every time. I love the way that cover works in this game too, most cover can be shot through so it primarily serves to break your enemies line of sight. Its rare to ever find cover that actually keeps you safe, so in order to avoid getting shot you have to keep moving and avoid being seen. Every fire fight feels intense because you can actually get out numbered by 3 guys with regular weapons if they have decent cover. I always start out with a stealth approach in later Far Cry games, but the enemies don't feel as smart, and if they ever do catch you its easy to go full auto and mow them all down one after another. After you've done that a couple of times there doesn't seem to be much point in sneaking around, since I'm basically Rambo now. The later games are a lot of fun, don't get me wrong. They just don't feel as dynamic or reactive to your choices.
Far cry 2 is almost perfect in my eyes. And im not saying this because of nostalgia. I played all other far cry games before 2 and i love it so much. I do think you need to play on infamous because then the atmosphere is at its best and you are constantly in danger. People say that driving is boring but i disagree. You often meet enemy cars on the road and they are very dangerous and there is a very real risk that you will die which ads to you being constantly in danger, as mentioned before. I dont think the enemies are that bulletspongey either and I actually never thought about that untill someone pointed it out. I also like the respqwning outposts because if they wouldnt respawn then it would remove all danger and make you feel safe. I also like that you cant level up your character because it ads to the immersion and realism. I even like malaria because it added chaos to gumfights if you needed to take a pill in the middle of it, same with guns jamming. It also made you stressed if you had no pills left and you where far away from a place where you can get them. This also aplies to guns breaking. When a gun breaks you also need to pick up enemies weapons if you are not close to a gun shop and enemies weapons are more rusty and are more likely to jam. And the details are absolutely amazing and all that but i dont think that is what makes the game.
Just what I was looking for. I was really hoping they would bring this stuff back, alas I'm disappointed. Far Cry 2 realism with Far cry 3 story would be a no brainer. I guess these rookies can't read a damn map and need an implanted enemy raidar system. Rockets dissappear in the sky and trees at least fall now but, "boop" there gone too. Also hearing that roar of an engine during a firefight in far cry 2 still makes me piss my pants lol. I know whats coming.
Physics of a game from 2008 are just amazing. No hate towards far cry 5, just a bit disappointed about this topic. At least there are some improvements from 5 to 6 (talking only about physics and environment interaction, all the rest is nice)
I didn't like Far cry 2 back then. I thought the story was uninspiring and the characters are forgettable. And I didn't like the malaria side missions and gun degradation. But now I kinda appreciate it. It still seems to be holding up pretty well
It has cool details, but the game is still just as forgettable as you remember. If how you remember the game is by micro details, then it’s not a good game.
It’s the same thing with ac1. The mechanics and the assets they had back then almost seemed more futuristic than what we have now. But the tech is proprietary so that answers it lol.
If you consider that today's hardware power is much bigger, companies budgets are bigger too and we still have competent people working on developing games and at the same time you realize some 00s games were much more advanced than today's ones, it's a smart conclusion considering that they have changed their focus. I see a lot of people here dreaming of the day they will make a new Far Cry 2 or a Crysis, or even a new FEAR but I guess it's far from the reality. They could easily open FC2 files and create a new game with same physics and better textures and non repetitive missions and they would bring the best shooter ever. But they don't that. They don't want that because they've found another formula where they earn much more doing much less. This is a fact that between 2000-2010 one of the big goals of game developing was the technical innovation while today it's different. You don't like it? Why have you bought Far Cry 6?
It's a shame when a game doesn't have as much details and great mechanics as a previous entry. SO in a case like this where a game from 2008 has better details and physics than a game from 2021, there's no excuse
fc 2 best ever. "it was hard to make and never again" they said. i stopped buying after 5. see where it was going. cheap and nasty. if you have never played 2, you are missing out on some amazing history there. i still brag about it to this day, like some old war story to my kids.
You know, as someone who has played alot of far cry 2, I think people are over reacting to the detail of far cry 6, there still is alot there that make the game feel more alive, sure it is not the same but it is still pretty good.
remember guys , farcry 2 came in a year where companies start showing how physics work in their games . FC2 is ugly as shit even for 2008 , world is empty and not open , weird color patterns and get this , u can’t fly at all . so farcry 6 might look unrealistic but it’s 10 times more detailed and 20 times bigger and the world is living and breathing
5:31 You could always argue the foliage was more wet xD But seriously, they need to stop downgrading certain aspects.. And also Crysis did the "tree chopping" thing way back in 2007. And not only that, they need to do something totally new for the next installment, it's getting pretty repetetive. I did enjoy Far Cry 4 and 5 though, those are the ones that I've played through.
I think they mean in the sense both companies cared to put minor detail into there games. It's a shame that Rockstar is really the only company that realizes how important that stuff is. That is why they're the best though. Hail rockstar.
This is actually another farcry vs tech demo game. Ubisoft really putting it's tech to the test on Far Cry 2. Hence there are some impressive details here and there
It's not like "oh far cry 6 doesn't care about realism". Bruh if games nowadays include all these stuff it will be 100+gb and it's not like everyone will be looking at those small details whole game.

Now it’s about who can hype it up the most and score a cash prize aka are hard earned money

They definitely need to hire new people with soul over on Ubisoft & get rid of the executive ones that make consumers hate the company
But it definitely blows that Ubisoft has many international divisions, but only those division's work together for specific games like Fc6 & Ac Revelations (look it up)
But for Fc6 it was made by cooperation of Ubisoft Berlin, Shanghai & Kyev something - as well as Montreal or Quebec
(Honestly - Quebec is the lousy one out of the bunch) & it doesn't help that Ubisoft will still keep microtransations in future game's.)
All in all - Ubisoft has to get rid of their bad rep or get inevitably bankrupt out of meaningful characters & story ideas

@@miiathelamia5616 7 seconds would be fine but they only exist for 3 XD
Probably because of consoles
That's because they're made out of cardboard.
Who cares if they disappear fast
Far Cry 2 is just one of those games that I feel so scared to play because, when you are in a firefight you don't know where is the enemy there's no Minimap to tell you where they are and you are in a thick jungle (but your not always in the jungle thought there's also a desert) and you can't tell where they are. And the soundtrack to is just scary.
Pretty sure you can turn off the mini map in FC6 time to be scared again lol
Lmao, yeah I know other FC games can also do that to I know but FC2 is on a whole different level you know what i'm mean.
Lol
I always turn minimaps off if i can i like challenging games and they make em way easier
(You probably knew this already)
Ubisoft it's about the damn time to get a new engine.
This dynamic also gives the different vehicles more of a purpose, an armoured truck might have better protection and fire power, but a quad bike can get you around obstacles that the NPCs can't manage in their jeeps (they are terrible drivers...)
Its little things like this that imo really show the hard work put in to the game.

@CKS1949 I think it was more so the lack of traversal options. I doubt the world was anywhere near the size of any modern far cry games. We just have much faster ways to travel in the newer games
Nowadays games seems to get actors on them or more post process effects to jack up the price than actual gameplay mechanics or immersive physics.
I mean. Actors can set a good atmosphere

Surely it can't be that time consuming for them
As much as I love the sheer gritty realism FC2 has compared to it's successors It does lack one thing; water splash.
That’s a bit of a nitpick
Yeah problem is that Havoc wasn't very good at water effects at the time so you have almost no water effects because they use the base Durina engine for that (I believe). Also water require lots of particle effects and if you want it volumetric then most of HW in 2008 would struggle. Water physics became easier with more GPU improvements but FC2 had all the physics they could squeeze from Havoc and Durina. Even in 2008 it was still about pushing the possible.
Dude, its Africa. Don't expect too much water physics😂
I swear games from the 6th and 7th gen tried to put effort into their game's physics than most modern games.
I loved FC2 but for me it was a horror... the game was scary, I felt like there in the dark jungle night every stranger could trapped me... and snipers, they would spot and hit me from miles away even if I think they don't know I'm close ... 😬😂👻
So true. Gives me chills.
Exactly my thoughts. It was scary and I loved it.
I really want a remastered version of far cry2 the details and physics were awesome
FC2: Throw grenade, boom, branches, dust and leaves everywhere, tree stays up. The Tree: I'm damage, but still here.
FC6: Throw grenade, boom, dust and leaves here and there, tree falls down. The tree: Adios *Fades into another dimension, 1 second after the explosion.*
FC2: RPG flies for as long as it has fuel and velocity, then falls back to earth.
@@burnyburnoutze2nd To change the gameplay loop.
Not too hard to understand. Didn't like that feature much anyway.
So it ends up limiting the ways you can play
far cry 2 is the best in details and physics
Is it just me or is far cry really addictive? Like once you play one you always want to play it especially far cry 6.
Nope you just have bad taste
Put bomb on house *BOOM*
House unharmed, tree next to it gone
Yeah classic Far Cry Physics 🤣👌
Everyone remembers how detailed farcry 2 was Ubisoft, everyone. You know who else remembers, pepperidge farm remembers.
Tbf there are some massive improvements from Far Cry 5 in 6
@@thegreatestduck4038 ignore him he's just a stupid tool
Go back to your stupid far cry 2 and stop complaining idiot

@@TheAdoringFan I can remember many missions, even tho some were annoying, it was still an amazing game.
Far Cry 2 And GTA IV Both game Details Are Amazing And I think no one game can beat this details until 2035.....
FC2 is an arcade game, it ain't no military sim like Arma or Operation Flashpoint but it has some unique "realistic" gritty feel. Love this game.
FAR CRY 2 wins
the fire spreading in Far Cry 6 is more prominent on plantations than the usual vegetation
You know, as someone who has played alot of far cry 2, I think people are over reacting to the detail of far cry 6, there still is alot there that make the game feel more alive, sure it is not the same but it is still pretty good.
6 is not pretty good
@@mayonnaise3959 Okay
remember guys , farcry 2 came in a year where companies start showing how physics work in their games .
Red dead redemption 2 is probably the only
Modern game that can compare to far cry 2 lol
Red dead 2 blows far cry 2 out the water
Rdr2 leaves fc2 in the dust in every single way
I think they mean in the sense both companies cared to put minor detail into there games. It's a shame that Rockstar is really the only company that realizes how important that stuff is. That is why they're the best though. Hail rockstar.
@@allaboutit3679 detail not make gameplay better. I like euphoria ragdoll of R* games.
Sorry but you can’t say Far Cry and RDR2 in the same sentence. It’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda.
This is actually another farcry vs tech demo game. Ubisoft really putting it's tech to the test on Far Cry 2. Hence there are some impressive details here and there
back when ubisoft is a passionate developer, now they're just the same as EA, fuxking sellout capitalist
It's not like "oh far cry 6 doesn't care about realism". Bruh if games nowadays include all these stuff it will be 100+gb and it's not like everyone will be looking at those small details whole game.
