I remember being in college when he first tried coming over to the States… The US never ‘got’ Robbie’s humor, which is such a huge part of his appeal. Also, the label really should have reshot the video for Millenium, his first US release, nobody there got all the inside jokes … and finally, when he first came over he was going through one of his heavier stages… with his shaved head… he just didn’t look that great. And unfortunately Ricki Martin was also another new artist that was coming out at the same time… who was getting the attention of all the ladies and media.
