So I had to learn this in school as a child and at weddings family members will sometimes do it because people like it an it's kinda a dance you'd expect little magical elfs to do I love being Welsh just wish so much of our past wasn't destroyed
Dancing this in school in the full costume was the warmest most uncomfortable thing I can remember but it's still one of my favourite childhood memories
@@chickenrabbit6715Doesn't really matter how much they are. If they culturally identify with it, it doesn't matter. If they are fully or part Welsh, they are still Welsh. 😌
This is so cute. I think that Welsh, English, Scottish and Irish should be taught in schools as part of a way to preserve the heritage. It definitely beats twerking!
I used to do Welsh Folk Dancing in School in the 1970s, don't know if they do it now, guessing they may do in Welsh schools so that they can compete in the Eisteddford!
You mainly see this at an Eisteddfod or on St. David's day or any welsh holiday. I remember dressing up as a little welsh lady in primary school and eating bara brith!
@@The_Art_Imp oh! I’m in the south and have only ever heard them called welsh cakes. Omg yes, they are delicious too. I think I’m gonna make some next week now that I think of it. Get some practice in before spring!
Hi Praveenone. Could I perhaps please have your permission to use a few clips from this video in a music project I am working on with Arts Council Wales support exploring Welsh-African connections?

I love you and your cultur, Welsh People, greetings from Serbia
From a Welsh lady in North Wales 🏴 absolutely so graceful well done.
Thank you for preserving the culture of the mother land and the fore fathers. Cheers and shalom from a long lost Cornish cousin in California.

Huh?
Would be nice but the English invaded Wales so some of our culture and traditions were lost.
@@erinjones1700 try and bring them back.
@@chrisucl it’s quite difficult to bring them back, wish we could.
I’m Welsh and I was taught how to dance Welsh cultural dances in my primary 😁
I did not know there was Welsh dancing! It is cool!
their dresses aren’t cool
Cool is one word to describe us...
Thank you!
@@autumn9680 they are pretty though.. and handy in winter!
@@autumn9680respect our fucking heritage.
I’m half-Welsh- raised in America by a fully Welsh immigrant mother- and I would love to do this at my wedding some day
we have such a wonderful culture that has been erased, i'm so glad it's being spread and appreciated beyond wales
Lovely. Very like Scottish country dancing. I recognise most of the figures but these seem to have more steps eg for setting.

yeah vwe do do that novwadays
I have some Welsh ancestry and wanted to see something traditional from Wales. Interesting
Me too! 😊

@@The_Art_Imp bara brith? Is that the basically-just-bread-with-pork-fat-on? That stuff’s lush!
@@Inquisitor_Vex bara brith is basically just welsh cake, sometimes you can have raisins in it but that makes it taste awful-

looks very fun and lively, and I love that little change of meter in the music at 0:58!

These are the dances people danced during Jane Austen's time
Certainly related to quadrille.
😊❤🎉 Amazing
This Welsh dance looks so incredibly French for some reason!
Haha the language welsh is similar to Breton and Breton is similar to French so in a way I guess it makes sense 😅
dude, this is cool
Good old days
Pretty cool actually
Bellísimo!. Y muy lindo ver la alegría con que bailan. Felicitaciones.
Haha I remember trying to learn this at school and failing miserably lol
😅
Some day I'll move to wales.... some day.
So it seems that all my ancestors had culture and moves. No wonder I love dancing 😅 I see they were doing the jerk before it's time
