    You can turn on English CC subtitles for the short Finnish parts if you need! Plus to clarify "lähihoitaja" means specifically a practical nurse 😊 And finally, you can download the YKI Pass ebook here: bit.ly/3Rr7pcD 📚

    I am a nursing student from LAPIN AMK. It is important that student shows YKI A2 level to achieve 3rd year scholarship. Therefore, it is not a choice to take A2 level unless the student is ready to take B2 level. The school accepts only at least YKI A2 certificate for language level requirement for YKI test.

    As an American living in Finland, who graduated as a lähihoitaja/practical nurse, meaning I earned the degree in Finnish and therefore the certificate is enough to apply for citizenship without the YKI test, I think many foreigners have the wrong mindset about living a life in Finland. The reality is, nobody cares about the YKI test, meaning Finnish society/employers. It isn't about 1 or 2 years of studying Finnish and then it's something you never do again, in reality, it takes many years of hard work to get to a decent level to where you can have flowing, diverse conversations with Finns. Nobody cares whether you speak A1 or B1 Finnish in the written form, you sound like Google Translate when you speak Finnish and you understand nobody that doesn't speak at a snail pace. Any Finn/employer is going to know more about your language skills in 10 secs of speaking with you than any document you can show them. What good does it do you to acquire Finnish citizenship when you cannot communicate effectively with other Finns and function in Finnish society with those language skills? Your quality of life overall in Finland is going to be dependent on how well you continue to develop your language skills. If you wish to truly integrate into Finnish society and life, to feel "normal", your goals will need to be set far beyond the basic levels of Finnish language skills, YKI test or citizenship, IMO.

    I’ve come from a technical career and having multiple skills (worklife) to being a cleaner in Finland. Two courses since I’ve been here but my level is not enough for YKI……..I’ve got so frustrated with battling with Finnish I’m learning Swedish on the side and already it’s a lot easier for my Germanic language simple brain 😆🙈

    • @KatChatsFinnish
      @KatChatsFinnish  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @KatChatsFinnish
      @KatChatsFinnish  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      But she also said we don't really have assistant nurses here. Rather different kinds of nurses. Sairaanhoitaja has some more competences compared to lähihoitaja (who usually work more in basic care), but it depends on the workplace.
