I hated the ghosts as a kid, probably because they get more demonic looking the darker it gets, and would always panic and usually lose once it started filling up with the sand the last time around. I actually can’t remember if I ever made it past here as a kid without cheats. I’m 35 now and have beaten all the original Sega Genesis Sonic games at least once. I didn’t recognize the boss of the level when I played as an adult and couldn’t remember what level came after it either so I assume that’s as far as I ever got. To be fair I never owned the game though, my parents rented it for me a few times and then I had a friend who had all the games who loaned me Sonic 3 and Sonic & Kunckles. I only owned Sonic 1 and 2, which I did beat as a kid.
The boss battle was different from other boss battles. You couldn't defeat the Act 1 boss which just attacking him. You needed to knock the boss into the quicksand to defeat him
I really love this zone it has cool gimics but it has 2 issues the boss fight of first act is really bad and the scorpion enemies if he see you he will get hit matter what and then your controller will learn how to fly if you play it on genesis the genesis will with it
mirage saloon is nothing like this aside from the desert theme. mirage saloon is a mix of dust hill from sonic 2 and desert dazzle from sonic cd with a western theme

I appreciate a playthrough that doesn't just vaporize all the bosses as Super Sonic.
i actually always play sonic games withouth getting any emerald, fuck super sonic, i want it to be challenging.

I loved Sandopolis Zone.
Even the ghosts inside made things exciting for me when I was little.

The first act is not bad at all. The second act can be a hard time for a newcomer but if you appreciate game design you would think its fun
Although act 2 of sandopolis is horrifically hard for first timers, this level holds a special place in my heart for its design and soundtrack

No,the controller glides(like knuckles) and sticks into the wall,while the genesis follows like tails.
