      thank you!
I think you can't hear my voice in some parts, but it's too much work to do the narration again. ( I used a very cheap computer microphone from 10 years ago haha)
I hope this is helpful for people who are learning this kick. the two of you already do it great though!

this really helped me... even though i thought i was pretty good at front kick... your tutorial is so thorough here that it included important aspects that i really neglect, especially pulling back my toes. I don't think i do that at all. how can you pull back your toes so far? at 7:24 you pull back your toes almost 90'degrees

it's practice. you get used to it after kicking a target many times. also you can actually stretch your toes to get a bigger range of motion. just stretch them by pulling them back gently with your hand as you would stretch your fingers

would you consider doing a tutorial video on side kick..? if you could show a camera angle from the back that could be really helpful. for some reason, I can't figure out why, I don't extend my side kick properly, and it looks really awkward when I see it from behind (When the camera angle is from the back).

It's on my to do list. a lot of people asked me to do a side kick tutorial.
I'll try to film it from various angles. it's one of the kicks that requires the most technical work to get it right. most people do it wrong, even most black belts.

Liquidcadmus ok that would be great! yeah I often think I'm awesome at side kick... until I see myself in video, then I know objectively there's something awkward and wrong with my technique. I just can't figure out what it is... I'm suspicious my hip adductors aren't flexible enough.

it's necessary to strengthen and stretch the smaller muscle tissue that connects the legs to the hip. but also the glutes and lower back muscles are very involved in the side kick.
It's a difficult technique because it involves a lot of different muscle groups working together. also many people do not execute the movement correctly. for example in WTF Taekwondo the side kick technique is seriously flawed. but they don't really use it.

i know what you mean about the WTF tkd side kick. very shallow chambering means that the heel is fired from behind the body, and then the glutes aren't able to contribute power to the kick.
i try to draw my knee closer to my body (my ribs) so the chambering is deeper, and so i can engage my glutes for more power... but still it looks wrong and awkward when viewed from my back. it's like i'm leaning over my front (my belly button), and i don't extend the kick far enough...

If I simply kick forward with a straight leg without bending would that be effective? I also sometimes do the inverse where I left my leg up to where I am then violently push it forward (Similar to what you do when jumping). I don't do any martial art and so would like to question, as this would be how I normally instinctively kick something

You need to flex/chamber the knee otherwise you'll hurt yourself and the kick will have no power. The power comes from the knee and the hip.
