  • We show you how we breed our rabbits.
    Here is a list of what we use for our rabbits.
    - KW cages. 30X24X18 modular for our buck and 96X24X18 modular for our does.
    - shiftomatic metal feeders
    - Lixit water bottles
    - 1 liter waterer from rentacoop. The best waterer that we have found so far.
    - mighty may foot rest
    - nesting box from KW cages

      That is great. I wish y’all the best with the new adventure. Not sure if you have raised anything before, rabbits are so easy and produce so well. You will have lots of babies to sell or for the freezer soon. Let me know if you have any questions.

      @@chimneycreekacres1975 Oh, what a kind reply! I’ve had pets, never livestock. I’m looking forward to “clean” meat that I’ve raised myself. Also have young egg-lying chickens. It’s an adventure at my house! 😝

      Let me know if there is video you would like to see about how to do something with chickens or rabbits. I’m always up for suggestions.

    When the doe usually mounts the buck like that that's another way to show that she wants bred you can always hold her still for him to mount and he could get the fall offs easily

      That was her first time being bred. Once she started to fight, we separated them until the next day. She was much more calm, and took a moment for everything to work out. Thanks for checking out our videos. Another week and we will see how many little ones we will have. Stay tuned.

    What pellet do you feed? Do you give sunflower seeds and probiotics? One of the meat rabbit breeders where I am said his rabbits couldn’t digest the pellets and had a lot of them die. Do you have a video of the feeding?

    How do u know if the doe is ready to mate?

    • @chimneycreekacres1975
      @chimneycreekacres1975  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bucks are ready to mate early. I separate the sexes at 2 months old. Then it depends on the breed. Small breed does can be mated around 4 months. Medium breed does around 6 months. And large breed does around 8.

      @@chimneycreekacres1975 what about the doe?

    • @chimneycreekacres1975
      @chimneycreekacres1975  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Once they are of age. But them together, bring the doe to the buck. If she gets in position she is ready. If she fights or runs, she needs more time. Keep trying, she will learn.

      We are located in GA. It’s going to be hard finding rabbits during the summer. Most people don’t breed in the hot months. Make sure when you do get some, get one male and two females. Don’t just get one female. Just in case something’s happens to her or her litter is too large. The other female can help raise the young. Well good luck with your new adventure. I will come check out your channel. Thanks for subscribing to ours.

      There are not as many options for purchase as I’d hoped to find. I ended up searching thru Craig’s list - carefully. I found a homesteader who breeds and sells for this purpose. I selected the New Zealand breed.

      Farm stuff can be hard to find sometimes. I’ve used Craigslist and Facebook to sell. Also talk to your local feed store. They might know some breeders in your area.
