    This is so cool. I just watched your leaf motor breakdown cause I have a leaf and while I still use it, it ain't worth much and I thought maybe it'd be worth more for parts. Anyway, so my vote is for the leaf motor, however electric forklifts can be cheap too. Good stuff.

    I'm sure you've considered, but one thing to really watch for, is that tractor standing up on you quickly. There's no weight in the front anymore, and if you try to walk off with something heavy it could just rotate straight up and over onto you. Be safe!

      I have heard that is the number 1 cause of death on farms in Norway 🇳🇴 even with an engine .That was years ago.

    I know this videos old but i just started the same project🎉 im thinking a bit different as i just wan2 mow large areas with it so im going to try and power the deck blades separately then the drive to see if i can make some kind of high power mowing deck that i can switch out the deck batteries easier while relying on relatively low drive power to get around . Im no mechanic but i know electrical a fair bit so im hoping i can do this lol

    You should use an electric steering assist

    Awesome. Contemplating doing mine with a warp 9 double shafted motor. And running the hydraulic pump off the other end of the shaft. I’d have to leave the motor spinning at the idle run of the old diesel motor to run the hydraulics well though.
    The warp 9 should be a very torquey motor especially if I run it with the 120v speed controller that I have.
    I would love to also install a bypass for the speed controller so that I could hit a power dump and full throttle it with the full current that the batteries could supply for a second or so if I needed it.

    I have the same tractor on 100 acres that has a front end loader that is overgrown in weeds that I am about to convert.

    Try a micro switch on your hydraulic controls like an electric fork lift then it only comes on when used

    Hi Ben, great work! How did you choose the emotor to fit rpm-wise? I guess, a leaf motor would be so much overpowered or over-rpm

    Tractors that are short use or small jobs are better off electric.

    Good day from Ontario. Interesting video. Do't know much about electric other that motor. I drive some electric fork lifts,
    So what did this all cost so far. I remember when u bought 300, so wha was wrong with gas motor?
    Thanks good luck I guess u don't have to worry about it starting in winter

    • @BenjaminNelsonX
      @BenjaminNelsonX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There hasn't been much cost so far, as I've pretty much been using parts I already had. I got the motor and controller from a friend, already had the batteries, etc. Once it's a final design, I'll be able to tally it all up.

    Was the hydraulics as noisy before when powered by the engine? Would using a bldc motor be any quieter and still provide the same torque and performance?

    • @BenjaminNelsonX
      @BenjaminNelsonX  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's hard to say how noisy the hydraulics were when powered by the engine, because of all the engine noise!
      I think one of the issues with electric vehicles is trying to quiet down all the things that you normally wouldn't hear because of engine noise! Apparentally, that's one of the big issues in commercial electric car design!
      It seems to me that this electric motor and pump were a little noisier than the other electric motor and pump that I used. Both were brushed series-wound motors. I'm not sure exactly what the difference between the two is that would account for the volume difference.

    • @MTZ_Tractors
      @MTZ_Tractors ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@BenjaminNelsonX yeah Off course electric power steering.
      Electric power steering use BLDC Motor i think it's efficiency is good for power save of electric tractor 🚜.

    • @JeremyAkersInAustin
      @JeremyAkersInAustin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MTZ_Tractors He needs hydraulics for the loader, 3 point, etc, anyway, so going to electric power steering doesn't negate the need for the hydraulic pump and thus wouldn't really improve efficiency enough to matter.

      In case of front loader its better to use hydraulic power steering instead of electric, because i think hydraulic power steering has more powerful 💪🏻 and better for tractor works.

    Wondering if you could resurrect the old pump somewhere down the line. Was it less noisy/whiny than the little one?

    • @BenjaminNelsonX
      @BenjaminNelsonX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The original pump was mechanically driven off the back of the engine. I hadn’t thought about trying to adapt it to an electric motor. No idea how loud the original pump would have been, since it couldn’t be heard over the gas engine.
      But I can’t imagine it being an improvement over an electric motor and pump that were already designed to work together.

    • @philippaoo
      @philippaoo ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi guys, please consider that the inline crankdriven pump wouldnt be running when you stop. So in low speed situations where you need it most you get the least support. With the diesel engine there is always idle, so you always get the pump support

    • @philippaoo
      @philippaoo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ben, why not placing it in this huge gap between motor and radiator. Plus just some housing and it will improve very very much

    Cultivation takes a lot of power. I used to cultivate 100 acres a day with a small diesel. Sorry but I don't see this thing cultivating more than an acre or two before it needs to be charged. Hope I'm wrong
