    Excellent, concise, clear! I have 2 GoPros and 1 Tactacam, none of which I currently use! You provide great tips on how to get started (even for a 70-year-old fella).

      Thank you! This was a daunting one to tackle because there is so much important info to remember to include, and I tend to use way too many words!

    • @paul_monaghan
      @paul_monaghan ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know it can feel like you use too many words, but It didn't feel like it to me. You covered the important bit. I'm curious, as the UK kayak competition scene is dominated by Garmin Livescope (I don't own one). Is it the same in the US?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's the power when I get to edit it myself! 😎 Livescope, Mega 360, and Active Target are all making an impact on our tournament scene for sure. But the guys who have them in my local scene don't usually win, so it isn't mandatory yet to be competitive, locally at least. If I was going to spend the money to follow the national trails, I would consider it much more important.

    Nice set up! I like the yahattack quick connects. I mounted a 4"" gen II yah rail on the hatch lid and glued down a quick connect. Snap in my Garmin Striker plus 4 and put the Yakattack Nocqua battery in the compartment. Works greats

    Great info and tips, definitely need to put me a GoPro emergency kit together. Hard to beat those YakAttack accessories 👊🏻

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I try other brands, but it always seems that YakAttack has the best products! I just got the spare sd card back in the mail that I loaned one of my competitors out of my emergency kit last weekend when his sd card quit... it really comes in handy!

    Very informative. I haven't used looping as I have been concerned that I might overwrite footage but I think I will give it a try. Thanks.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It took me a few years to get that same thought out of my head and trust the looping, but I have been using it for a few years now and I promise it works if there isn't user error involved! And it makes the editing so much easier because I have so much less footage to wade through.

    Really great explanation of your setup. I just picked up two more power packs, it's been a struggle. I just downgraded the firmware on my Hero 10 (back to v1.20), because of a little bug in newer firmware requiring the internal battery be inserted when running off external power, then removing the battery once it was running. I'm just getting into kayak fishing from boat fishing. Total blast! I'll probably be installing a lithium battery if I put a graph on the kayak, so I may do what you did and just run everything off it. Thank you for sharing what you've learned with your experiences.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow, I wonder if that bug is why my Hero 10 GoPro quit last weekend with the message, "not enough power", an error I had never seen before.

    • @OutdoorQuests
      @OutdoorQuests ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GirlGoneFishing that sounds like the exact same issue.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OutdoorQuests It turns out it was my Hero11 that gave me that error out on the water. I failed to get it to repeat the error at home, but google says if it does happen and won’t reset, put in an internal battery then start it recording then take the internal battery out and it will keep recording powered by the external power source.

      @@GirlGoneFishingthat's the work-around I was able to do with my Hero 10 before reverting the firmware.. Just kind of a pain for me to do that with the door I have on my 10. I was on the water today for about 8 hours and it worked great with the firmware reverted. However, the app on my phone wouldn't let me get to preview mode or control the Hero 10, because it says I need to update the firmware. Lol :)

    This video helped me out a lot. I have nothing set up on the front of my Hobie kayak, and was looking for something, that would work. I will be adding the panfish pro in the very near future! 😄I also have the ram mount tough pole and rail track in the back just behind my seat, but it's a pain to connect and remove at the dock. I've been trying to find a taller rear camera setup to stand and fish sometimes. I like the fact that the H-Crate can raise the camera up another foot or so. I also use the Dakota Lithium 10AH, and the 3BR Power Sports waterproof camera case with power cable setup. It seems to work pretty well.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm glad it helped someone! Even with the H-Crate and that Boomsitck, my back GoPro still can't get all of me in the frame if I am standing unless I change the camera setting to SuperView, which I don't favor because it distorts the picture a little...but still better than trying to use headless footage!

    Great video and really well-explained. The HYPERSMOOTH, as the name suggests, makes your video smooth and not shaky. That's all it does. Really useful if the water is a bit bumpy and you don't want your footage to be shaky.

    Thanks for the informative video. I've had a heck of a time with connection through the quick app and running without a battery! Think I need to check my firmware. Didn't know about the looping option. I have the remote so it would be perfect assuming I remember to stop recording 😂

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah there have been times I realized a while later I forgot to hit stop! You can also use the highlight feature where you record continuously and hit highlight when action happens, then when you are editing you can just look at the highlighted parts of your day of video. That system just didn't work for me, but I know people who do it that way.

  • @Adventures101.
    @Adventures101. ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For controlling the phone thing just takes too long definitely get yourself a remote control by go pro. You can sync all your cameras to go on and off at the same time just by clicking a button. Great video by the way

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a remote, but I didn't like that it was just one more thing I had to remember to bring and not lose. The voice control is by far the easiest way for me, but I find the app quite simple to use when I need it. But I usually run Navionics on my phone when I fish, so I already have my phone out in a mount I can easily access it, so maybe that makes it faster for me to use the app?

  • @CoffeeJake
    @CoffeeJake ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome thanks! So when using Looping, you use the same voice command “GP start recording”?
    And then Don you have to say “Stop” or does the looping take care of that?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So your camera is continually recording, so when something good happens you say, "GoPro, stop recording", it will then save the last 20 minutes of footage, then you say, "GoPro, start recording", and it will start recording on a loop again.

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know, I was wondering why it was backwards sometimes. Has to be a setting on my fancy new iPhone14. But it is my first upgrade since the iPhone7 so I have no idea what it is doing most of the time. The important thing is I can take fish photos on it and play Pokemon Go! 🤣

    • @EVERYTHINGcpo
      @EVERYTHINGcpo ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GirlGoneFishingit’s because of the setting you have for your front camera (which you use to film yourself). Go to Settings -> Camera -> Mirror Front Camera and deselect that. Then when you get the recorded video off the phone it will appear normal (it will still look mirrored while recording). Hope that helps.

    • @GirlGoneFishing

    Thanks again!
    High Noon

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The remote never worked for me, it was always unpairing when I needed it, plus it is something else to have to remember to bring on the boat, keep dry, and put batteries in. The GoPro Quick app on my phone works great and you can also start and stop your camera with voice control commands if you’d like (and if it isn’t too windy out). I use a Rouge phone tether when I am on my kayak so my phone is always clipped to my boat on a bungee or retractable tether for safety.

    What usb cable are using didn't see a link for that in the description? What's the length?

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really don’t give much thought to my power cables, I order them from amazon if I see a good deal, or pick them up at Target if I have an immediate need. I usually buy Anker brand from Target but I’ve done fine with other brands from amazon. I prefer a 6-foot cord for my back camera and a 10-foot cord for my front camera. But too long is better than too short because they can come unplugged from the battery if the cord is tight. I use zip ties to try and keep any extra cord organized and out of the water.

      and this 2-pack of 10-foot cords: amzn.to/3oZqyH2

    • @GirlGoneFishing
      @GirlGoneFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      But any cord will work that is USB-C on the GoPro end, and USB-A (regular USB) on the other end that will go into the battery. Measure your distances to get the cord lengths that work for your boat!
