So well done! Really glad to have found your work through Departures, way back! Great to see how you've applied new tech to your outstanding talent and skills.
Gah your stuff is always so awesome! I'm getting my feet wet into recreational videography myself, particularly travel montages like this, and I was wondering if there was any rhyme or reason to selecting the clips that you did in the various parts of the timeline? And what are some tips to getting good landscape shots, especially without a drone or steady-cam? Thanks!
Thanks! Editing is a very organic and developing process for me. I start with a song I feel captures the mood I’m trying to convey, work out a beginning and an end... and as I experiment with different ideas, usually everything changes by the final cut. My recommendation is to throw clips on the timeline with music underneath and let the imagery speak to you. I wish I could be more concrete with a step by step process but I have yet to find one! I will add that one useful thing to do is to throw all your footage on a timeline and cut out the bad stuff. Do another pass on this and refine it more. Do a third pass... a fourth....What you will be left with is great footage - even moments where the camera mistakes look interesting - this is the footage you select from to copy into your working timeline. Hope that helps!
@@andredupuis9157 Whoa! Really appreciate the time you took to help me out here! Love seeing how your stuff has evolved since the Departures days. Thanks!
@@andredupuis9157 big fan of your work. Have watched every single season of Departures at least 3 times; same with Descending and very much loved you work with Scott more recently with Into the Rising Sun. I just wanted to thank you for providing the detailed insight above. I pretty much take the same approach! I’m curious.. which editing software do you use? Also do you and Scott have anything else in the pipeline?
Great Video 👍🏿 Moorea ❤️
