- November and December are one of the best times to go fishing for yellowtail kingfish in New Zealand. Milan and Nato had planned to do as much fishing as possible over this period, however, the weather hasn't played ball. Over this awesome fishing season, the boys had also planned to get Dick Johnson (creator of all The Lateral Line music) and Dayne from Marco Boats (creator of Sojourn) out fishing for a day or two. This fishing mission is all about trying to get a photo of Dayne with a huge kingfish in his arms. A big kingfish is spotted with the drone, can the boys catch it?

Welcome to The Lateral Line, an online fishing show presented by Milan Radonich and Nathan O’Hearn, 2 best mates better described as brothers. They both have a genuine love and respect for everything that New Zealand's outdoors has to offer.
The Lateral Line is all about being out in the wide open spaces with good mates, for days at a time, soaking in New Zealand’s beautiful scenery, laughing out loud, and having as much fun as possible while trying to catch something to cook and eat. Throw in a few big Yellowtail Kingfish and the odd big Snapper and the boys are living their best lives.
Milan and Nathan have been fishing together for over 15 years and had always dreamed about having a custom-built boat that would suit them and their fishing style perfectly. Danye at Marco Boats in their hometown Morrinsville has quite literally made that dream a reality. He took all the ideas the boys had and built a boat with the model name Sojourn. Sojourn meaning “a short stay”.

Absolutely incredible footage. I have a question, in the opening scenes of this video Milan and another guy are hooking into some large Kingfish off what looks like a low but sheer sided cliff. How on earth did you land any of these big boys with no access points? Looking forward to your next adventure.

shame you boys get seasick try a Dramamine the night before when you go to bed then another with your morning coffee....used to work well for weak stomach charter clients....always good stuff and epic back drops legends.

It's not about beeing a trawler, i really enjoyed the surface action wich reminds me of small coalfish and herring here in Norway exept we dont have kingies but the big coalfish looks and behaves a lot like kingies just darker on the back.

If we are targeting big kings then it is on the mighty Daiwa Saltiga, 18,000 or 20,000. Reels are spooled with PE10 braid (breaks at 137lb) 140lb to 170lb mono trace. Rod is a Saltiga rod 8”6’. thanks for watching 😎👍😁
