Just received this B File today. Packed with care, like any fine item. A beautiful, comfortable piece to behold. I worked for 12 years in a casket shop when I was younger and have held many hand tools. None have been as comfortable as this.

Just ordered one. Some brands are 35 degree, and that removes a lot of real estate.

How do you keep from scarring the side of the neck with the file?

Great product. Is there a specific kind of file card you'd recommend to brush/clean the files?

You can use a brush with brass bristles and gently brush the file to remove any materials that may be stuck.

My fender guitar has developed fret sprout on the treble side of the neck. I know I have to remove the strings. But will I be able to use this tool to get rid of the fret sprout without damaging the neck coating?

The 23° and 3° file angles for beveling should not affect the neck finish if used properly. Please reach out to us at tech@musicnomad.com, and we can discuss your instrument's specific needs. Thank you.

Awesome tool. When dealing with fret sprout, which degree should be used ? When do you choose 3 over 23?

Hi, the 23° angle provides the ideal bevel on frets for all styles of playing. Use the 3° angle for initial filing, fret sprout, flush filing or tang removal. You can also email tech@musicnomad.com for additional information.

I have tried using just a fret dressing file but my frets needs something more heavy duty...plus that takes a long time as opposed to this product. Question: Can I use this without taking off all my strings ? Maybe just loosen both E strings and tilt the bevel slightly to just touch the outer sharp fret ends ? I recently put $20 strings on and I would just assume not have to remove them as they say putting the same strings back on is not really ideal. Your thoughts ?

The strings need to be off the fingerboard when using the bevel file so the file can glide over the fingerboard evenly while sanding the fret ends using the proper angle.

Question: Why is MusicNomad file's angle is 23 degree when all others files I can find are 35/45 degree. Are MusicNomad file for a specific kind of guitar adjustment?

After extensive research and interviewing many of the top repair shops, it was unanimous that 35+ degrees found on other bevel files is way too severe of an angle and brings in the bevel too far which can cause playability issues for players such as slipping off the fret when bending. Not sure why everyone just copies each other instead of doing what's right. 23 degrees is the ideal bevel angle top repair shops want for the best playability. Our B-File is for all guitars and you will love it.

Wouldn’t 23 degrees be more severe? I would think that if 35 is too steep then you would want 45-60 degrees for more fret surface area or am I wrong? A more acute angle would cause more slipping I would think.

Never mind it seems that the base of the angle is vertical so it would be better for preventing string slippage.
