He played this set at 180bpm... I knew something was up, I'd never danced to dnb like that before! What a fucking awesome set, i will never forget this...
Everyone on here slagging off MC Wrec, firstly the man has been MCing for years with HC and London Elek among many others he definately knows what he's doing. when you are there he gets the crowd stuck in and lets the tracks flow which a lot of MCs dont do, he may not make it sound better when you're at home but at a rave he completely adds to the experience, any true raver would know that. Big up Wrec all day LEGEND.
The fact he thinks after 08:00 track is "jungle" makes your comment absurd. He clearly has no knowledge, he's mc-ing skills are lacking and frankly, I'd take any of Kool FM's talented MC's over this Muppet. Furthermore, I speak from actually being there when Jungle actually started, favourite music genre along with nice Logical Progression sounds. Hospital Records play some great artists, this set ruined by Wrec....

Even the best in the game are losing their touch as they get older and just repeat all their old stuff (Navi, Moose, Fearless et al). Most of the new MCs think 50 of them, chatting double time and shouting over the music as loud as poss is good MC'ing. At least this guy is thinking about it and letting the music breathe. I was there when it started too and think you're talking shit, so acting all superior because you were there (or pretend to be) makes you look like a tool. Subjectivity good Sir...

This was like the best rave in history i think...Etherwood, High Contrast, Fred V and Grafix and such banging sets. Perfect time. Listening to this during COVID isolation, that Emotional Vampire track gives chills.

Here's an original idea: why don't we comment on a DJ set criticising the MC. I'm sure that's never been done before.
Has it ever occurred to you that the MC might be there for the people live in the room, rather than the people watching it back on TH-cam later?
Criticising the MC doesn't make you look like some purist who's only interested in the music, it just makes you look like someone who doesn't fully understand how live DJ sets work.

I strongly disagree - I've been to see real MCs spitting rhymes over DnB and I think that's phenomenal. But this jabbering is nonsense. And if the MC is only there for live shows... Then keep his channel out of the recording!

FUCKING HELL!! Nearly 30 years i've been on top of the dance music scene and i've been tearing dance floors apart for nearly a quarter of a century but i can quite clearly state this is the best set i've ever fucking heard by a long way.i predicted big things for lincoln barret from his first remixes (the likes of fsol's papua new guinea) and he has gone from strength to strength ripping his way through the drum and bass scene to reach the pinnacle and claim the crown,i just hope no poor bastard had to go on after this set coz it would just pale in to insignificance.high contrast you truly are the zion lion,king of the jungle
he is absolutely legendary!! I love his older stuff but he still cranks out gold to this day! Camo & Krooked played after him btw, and no they could never match his set, but they weren't too bad either ;D

I think we all have to come to an understanding that most of the people who are commenting are kids and also people who don’t even know how to find on of these parties to go to. People who are true to the music are a select few........don’t bother replying and remember that they don’t know any better. No musician requires a hype man
The inclusion of MCs is the worst development in drum and bass at the moment. This one is terrible, but even a 'good' one is a sure fire way to remove you from your lost-in-the-music state and have you muttering 'if you tell me to put my hands in the air one more time...!'. Ordering the crowd about and giving a running commentary of whatever is happening kills every last drop of magic.
So much dumb in this comment it's unreal. MC's have been part of Drum and bass, Jungle, Happy Hardcore, Garage and pretty much the whole UK Dance scene since the beginning. You have obviously never been to a proper rave/night out. Stick to your boyband concerts :P
First of all: MC's aren't a 'development at the moment' but have been included in shows for decades now.
Though I'm not a big fan of MC's shouting on top of the music all the time, this one's not all too bad: he helps build up the drop and let's it kick in (I've seen far worse MC's constantly killing drops). His rythm is sometimes not too good, but that's what can happen at live shows (unless you're JB or 1D fan, because prerecorded taped mixes never are wrong, but aren't live either).
Lastly, if an MC 'kills every last drop of magic' for you, perhaps there wasn't much in it at the start for you, and you should go looking for genres that better suit you; because when I go to check out DnB shows, I can completely zone out, and if I don't like the MC, he's not in my world of vibes.

They do, and there was, and drum and bass without MCs suits me just fine, thanks. I can have a good time if I ignore the guy, but having to make an effort isn't really the idea, is it? Obviously, this is simply a taste issue, and I'll just have to live with what people seem to like, or else be more selective with where I go. But on this particular issue, I've been surprised by how many people share my opinion. I suppose I prefer a more natural approach to getting people in the mood: the music itself.
I'm not a kind of "Drum & Bass authority" neither I was at the first D&B party on the history, but to me, Drum and Bass has had always something to do twith MC's and MC's have been always been there. That's something that makes it different from the rest, among other things.
I dont blame the MC's they have been around a long time. I blame this "festival" culture that hospitality have bought to the scene. Its not clubbing.

It’s not his voice that is contrived; it's what he is saying. Personally I think he has a good voice for this music. It would be better if he were actually spitting in time with the music, instead of randomly saying words. He's a disgrace of an MC.

He's good indeed. Heard his set live year ago. But I think there is a lot of unrecognized DJs (underground DJs) who can be better than him. In my city there is a one club where you can listen to underground music like: techno, psytrance, dubstep, experimetnal electronica stuff, and finaly drum & bass. I saw there really good djs playing on regular vinyls.
I'm sure, if they become greater they will make it into the real world if there work stands out like High Contrast who smashes it every time ;)
