  • My guest this week needs no introduction, so that's what I'll give him. I will, however, thank him for being so generous with his time, so reliably funny, and so sensible when it comes to the simple benefits of working your ass off. Enjoy!

    Jay Leno bought a home in our community here in Rhode Island few years ago. He is seen, by himself, regularly around town, he does his own grocery shopping, he involved in a great car museum here, he just did comedy night benefit for local cancer victim, he always gracious, stops talks to ppl, takes pics with...Jay, is one of the greats, not just as a comedian, entertainer, but a person. huge respect for the man.

      When my wife and I moved to Burbank CA about 30 years ago, Leno was doing the Tonight Show at NBC Studios - right across the street from our favorite Mexican restaurant. Several times I'd see him driving down Olive Ave. in some weird car or another, and even ran into him nd his mechanic at a local hamburger joint. Didn't gush or try to shake his hand. You just didn't do that in Burbank. I just gave him a cool 'nod' and he did the same back to me. Nice.

    It is very obvious that both of these guys are genuine and that is why they have been very successful.

    • @poiluparadis
      @poiluparadis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sorry to correct but both these guys were successful in showbiz despite being genuine. You are better suited for success in that particular industry not being genuine.

      @@poiluparadis only for a very short period. Non genuine gets found it quickly and then failure follows. It's a gamble, you may win big or lose it all. Being genuine and working hard gets you somewhere, although not as quickly as the gamblers but only a few gamblers will win or the house wouldn't keep playing.

And also, I would be absolutely in all, ifJ Leno invited me to see his car collection, I’ve been a motorhead all my life love anything that burns gasoline would love to see his collection grew up in the 50s and 60s love all the cars from the 40s all the way on

He pulled up next to me and I looked over, saw him, then realized who it was and looked again! He smiled and waived! Good dude! Cheers Mr Leno!

    I met Jay at the Oakdale theater in Wallingford, CT back in the stone age when he would drive himself to shows. I was working stage crew, maybe 20 yo and asked him for an autograph which he was happy to oblige. The only thing I could find for him to sign was a paint stirrer, which I still have. Total class act then and now. And Mike is just mellow like cheese and the savior of work ethic.

    Ha! Two of my favorite celebs of all time. Love these guys values. Jay treats his employees with respect and values their abilities. To be that famous and stay humble is a great feat indeed. Mike. I find Mike a wonderful show of logic. Educated, funny, humble, the ability to see others value as well. Not full of academic snobbery that makes everyone hate the academics. Mike has done more for the trades than anyone has. No other person that I can think of has been an advocate of the trades like Mike let alone address the tradesmen as intelligent human beings. Not everyone has the propensity to push paper or use their voice as their money maker. Mike is one of the very best communicators that I have ever heard and he doesn't pretend to be high and mighty over everyone that has chosen a different path. Some people want to build with their hands. I would love, love, love there to be a TV show that puts academics up against trades people. A show that throws every kind of problem there is at them. Making it academic and hand skill based. Let's see who can do what and then maybe the trades can get more respect and not be looked down upon by the elitist mindsets. Thanks Mike. Thanks Jay

    "Always try to say we rather tha I". Great advice! I spent 23 years in the fire service. As a relatively new fireman I watched a crew's reaction to an officer using "I" when credit should have been given to the crew. Also watched my crew's reaction to officers using "I" on the radio. You better believe those officers' stock took a hit by using that language! If you can't trust a man to give credit where credit should be placed you can't trust that man at all. Likewise any credit for failure falls squarely on the shoulders of the officer/leader. If you do this, your crew will follow you anywhere.
