    Love the neon pour. I ordered supplies on Amazon from your post, just to get started. Haven't painted before so this is new to me. I've watched many of your videos and they are an inspiration. I might switch to abstract painting because I don't care for the cells that most people like. But we will see.

    • @MOLLYSARTISTRY
      @MOLLYSARTISTRY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are quite a few that do not like the cells. That is totally up to you! You do not have to use silicone and do not need cells to make great artwork! Good luck with your first pour! Let me know if you need anything! Thank you!

      MOLLY'S ARTISTRY .. Molly, thank you so much for the nice reply. All my materials for acrylic painting arrived today. I'll just see where this leads me. There just might be a change of heart once I get started. I'm not going to use silicone now, maybe later.
      Thank you again.

    Molly I love layering paint in a cup and just laying it on the canvas in random fashion because it always looks so beautiful at the end. In this case you are doing that but within a colander so it truly gives a splendid pattern.

    You definitely have mastered this technique Molly! I’ve tried this several times & it is very difficult! Hopefully I’ll get it eventually! I’ve watched your videos over & over trying to figure out what I’m doing wrong! Thanks for sharing your talent!

      If it's not happening for you, keep you paints a little thicker. Layer a lot of layers in the cup, do lots of rings, have a colander with circular large holes! Hope this helps! Thank you!

    I learned this yesterday that gloss medium creates crazing. There's an art teacher I cannot recall her name right now (I'll get her name and send it to you) that I have been following and she gave a lot of really good educational information about all of the mediums and what they do. I was having tons of crazing happening and I learned that the gloss medium is what was causing the crazying. I used golden gloss medium. I thought it would create a nice glossy effect but it doesn't. It creates crazing. 😣🤔 Your art is beautiful at you inspire me everyday by the way. Thanks a million!

    • @MOLLYSARTISTRY
      @MOLLYSARTISTRY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not had this problem that's interesting. I use a gloss medium and varnish, not gloss medium by itself. It is probably due to the gloss medium drying faster than the acrylic paint. I have not has a painting craze in over a year. Thanks for the info though. Sorry your paintings were crazing. There are a lot of things that can cause crazing, drying time, humidity, thickness and consistency of the paint. Apple barrel white almost always crazed. Hope taking ot the golden gloss fixes the crazing for you! I would love to know the teachers name!

I’m trying to do it slowly & bring it back to center. I put white in first. And then add my other colors. Should I add white in the cup as I’m layering it? Could you please explain what you were saying on your description below about your pouring mediums? You said liquitex pouring medium 40%, floetrol 20%, all others. What does all others mean? And, how much GAC 800 did you use if any at all? Do you switch back and forth between the liquitex and the GAC 800, or use them both? And, did you use the gloss medium? How much? Or did you use matte medium? If so, how much? So is this 40% liquitex pouring medium and 60% paint? Or 40% liquitex pouring medium, 20% floetrol, and 40% paint? But then where do the "all others" come in?

      I batch my stuff so I give percentages. So if making 100ml, 40 ml floetrol, 20ml gac800, 20ml liquitex PM, 20ml gloss medium varnish. You can scale to size. I change my pouring medium all the time. No matte medium I didnt list that. So what I do is I list my pouring medium all the things that are there above the percentages and then I tell you what percent I'm using of each thing it may seem confusing but it's much easier because I'd batch 1 to 2000 ml at a time so if I tell you guys how many milliliters you can have to do the math to convert it back to what it was My pouring medium is all those things combined together and then I mix 1 to 1 or 1 to 1 and a 1/2 with paint and dilute as necessary for the consistency I want

    Cool when it runs over. But it will stretch design. I just worry about edges later too. 💙💓💓💖

      Not already, not if all the artor bubbles are popped. There was no silicone in this.

    Here's a thought...Could you put just enough paint down to form the centre part, then lift the colander up and put it onto another section of the canvas, pour more paint and then repeat this a few more times? That way you just have the kaleidoscope covering most of the canvas.

      I have tried and failed lol. The colander I have, you have to fill it a bit to get the center to form. I used multiple colanders as well. Nothing else seems to work! I'm gonna keep trying though. Keep the ideas coming!

    I tried with a different type of colander. But not as good effect. Need to search out yours.
