    Worked on a Honda Accord.
My daughter has a 2003 Honda Accord and when we bought it used, the seat did not recline then. I think it was just Used in the same position for years and just ended up ceasing up in that position. I used this idea From this post and applied it to her Honda and after a few minutes of working grease to the gears and using a a little force, it worked it self loose. Now it works good. This is a common problem with Honda’s from my research and I was afraid that I might need to get a new seat or seat motor. Until I came a cross this post. TH-cam is a wonderful thing for projects like this one. Saved a bunch of money and time. Thanks!

Sweet,..I just picked up a very nice 02 ACURA CL, found this video last night, FIXED this morning, I did have to remove the front and rear seat bolts and tip the seat up a bit to get at the rear deep screw that holds the plastic cover. Greased the gear, put back together and it works as new! EASY FIX, THANKS!

This worked perfectly. I have the same car, would not go back or forward. It did't budge, but then I shot it with WD-40 and tried again the next day! Perfect.

Very helpful! This worked for my driver and passenger seat. The hard part is getting a screw into the hole to release the motor cover. I ended up having to unbolt the seats from the car so I could tilt them.

I have a 2003 Honda Accord that the driver's seat was stuck and would not recline back or forward.
Took the seat apart like you did, but the Accord did not have a sprocket with big enough gears with teeth to move it with a screwdriver. Took the seat completely apart and started to pull the leather covering off the back of the seat to access the motor. Had a difficult time removing the lumbar support on the side. So I decided to give it one more try..... I did use WD-40 and sprayed both sides of the sprockets the night before. Used a pair of ViseGrip on the center stem, using the power seat control, and at the same time moving the ViseGrip back and forth. "WOW", I hear the gear click like it got unjammed or something and was working AGAIN!!
Thanks to your video and my giving it another try (actually about 4 times), I was able to get my seat RECLINING again. ^^ Plus the WD-40 ^^

If you tilt the seat all the way back which I did for occasional nap; soon or later it will get stuck. That means it is mechanical because I still hear the motor and the rod is trying to rotate. If that is the case; tapping the end of the rod close to metal jaws somehow gets it out of stuck mode. The end of moving rod is too soft to ratchet. Take a big flat screw driver and get as close as possible to metal jaws and the rod then tap it by hand or hammer. Keep trying a few times and use the switch to move it forward. It worked for me.
