Centurions broke 12 RECORDS IN ONE SEASON. Most important ones were:
1. First team to ever get 100 points.
2. Broke the goal scoring record for a single pl season (106)
3. First team to ever win 32 games in a single PL season.
4. Highest points tally ahead of second (19)
5. Broke club record of 31 wins in a single season (that was in championship).
6. Most successive PL wins (18).
7. Highest away points tally.
8. Most teams beaten in a single season.
9. Equalled earliest title win ever.
10. Highest ever goal difference.
Other records: Foden youngest player to get PL winner's medal and most possession against Everton - 82.1%.
A couple of these records were broken by Liverpool, but my point still stands.

Every club’s objective each season is to accumulate as many points as they can in 38 games. That is the whole point of a league campaign. So I think 100pts is the better achievement. I look at a invincible season as a side mission. No one makes going unbeaten their main objective for the season, especially not Pep.

The biggest achievement in English football at the moment is the quadruple. As much going a season unbeaten and gaining a 100 points is a fantastic achievement they can’t compare to winning all 4 competitions.
Once Robbie admitted that the Treble was better than the invincibles, I was fine.
It’s not true though. Man U and Man City both have won trebles. Neither have ever gone invincible. The harder feat is never losing a game the entire season due to it’s rarity.

An important aspect that everyone seems to forget was how the media was pumping up opposition teams to finally be the one to topple Arsenal's record. Even the poor teams in the league were motivated and up for a scrap to stop Arsenal owning the title of INVINCIBLE
and there were loads more poor teams back then compared to now. not to mention top teams didnt play 60+ matches a season

Invincibles is crazy to achieve, especially telling you gonna go before season starts. That's Wenger's brilliance. Centurions is great achievement, but on that season Liverpool were close to centurions as well. And that's because a league was very poor that year.

i am being 100% honest and putting this on my life when i say i'd rather centurions. The prestige of each achievement is even, neither has been repeated, but while unbeaten is a cool achievement, but 100 points is harder to do. if arsenal's invincible team had played in city's centurion season they would have come second by 9 WHOLE POINTS. If city's centurions had played during the invincible season, they would have come first, by 9 WHOLE points. At the end of the day football is about who's better, not who can keep the most clean sheets. end of.

To go Undefeated is a massive accomplishment but the fact remains that 100 points is more than what the invincibles picked up that year. If the two teams were playing in The same year, city would be champions and no one would have given the invincibles as much credit. Mate, there is one fatal flaw in your analogy. Your premise is if two students take the same test, in the same year. The football equivalent would be if Arsenal went invincible and city got 100 points in the same season. So the correct way to measure seasons across different eras is to look at the standard deviation of points from their respective seasons, instead of comparing points directly.

The simplest way for Buvey and Steve to win the debate is to ask: What would no losses and 12 draws have gotten Arsenal in the 2018-19 season? Third behind City and Liverpool. That's a fact. Even if you gave Arsenal a win and draw against both City and Liverpool that season. 100 points wins the league in every single season so far and likely ever. That said, as a City supporter, I have Henry first among Premier League strikers and Aguero second.
I mean the invincibles was a great achievement. But the teams are a lot better now so it is harder to repeat. That city team back then would've not lost a game and could have potentially won every game...
teams are better now because players arent hacked at every game. Arsenal has always been a team who tried to play football under Wenger and were subject to brutal tackles by the oppositions. City's centurions and treble side did not face that.

@@MrMessybYou can afford to lose 4 games, only if you win 33 others, which is almost impossible. In the top 5 leagues, only Juventus have managed 33 wins once, and no one else. You can go invincible even with 10 wins, you can't reach 100 points without at least 31 wins mathematically.

The best single league achievement is the unbeaten 1. As a seasonal achievement is the trebble you can't be more logical than that
i think man city defo could go unbeaten if that was their only goal. They could literally just keep possession for most of the game and get a bunch of draws. But in the Arsenal invincibles season, they got 90 points, which now days typically isnt enough to win the league especially if liverpool are chasing them. So City have to go for the win most of the time to make sure they get enough points to win the league which can bite them in the ass sometimes and cause them to lose if a team gets them on the counter attack

The quality of all the teams in the prem has changed since the invincible season. Yes, a team with over 100 points would beat a team with less points and no losses. But the only real way to compare the two sides would be to have them face the same clubs with the same players for a whole season. I think the fact that the invincibles were not worse than their opponents on any single match day for a whole season means more. The points earned at the end of the season is an arbitrary number that basically sums up the relation between how good the team is and how all of their opponents are. In the case of city, they were disproportionately better than other prem teams the centurion season. Does not apply to 03/04 invincible season and I would bet that city squad would not have won the prem that season.

Arsenal far as I am aware are the only Englandteam to lose 3 european finals of 3 different european competitions in 1995, 2000 and 2006. Now they have finally won the CL City have already surprssed them on a grander stage in Europe despite not getting to as many finals..

Centurions you can afford to lose FOUR games. Invincibles, if you lose ONE game then you have to wait until the next season to start again. It is MUCH harder!!
big difference is Arsenal were playing to go unbeaten, but Teams wont play for that they play for 3 points they will risk it.
I'm an Arsenal fan but the City Centurions had a better overall squad but I think the Invincibles was probably the best 1st 11 in the league. Cole, Campbell, Vieira, Gilberto, Pires, Bergkamp and Henry in your starting line up, great players and could not get physically bullied. Oh and that 12 draws thing, one was at White Heart Lane where a draw was sufficient to win the league and we drew 2 of the last 4 games having already won the league. In 2004 the pressure was on for Arsenal to not lose any of the last 4 games and for City the pressure was on to get to 100. Both achieved those objectives and both are special to each fan base so just let each fan base enjoy them.

@@Nne-nne What do you mean I'm no Arsenal fan, I think that going a league season unbeaten in 38 games is the best achievement because I don't think it will happen again, Man City won a treble after Man Utd won it 24 years earlier and in 1984 Liverpool won a treble with the league, European Cup and League Cup. So 3 trebles in a 30 year span means the Invincible's achievement is more unique, special and memorable. Now Alex Ferguson said that the Invincible's achievement is the pinnacle of all and who am I to argue with him. The fact is that Man City's 2018 team is a stronger squad but the Arsenal 2004 first 11 is the best and.most well balanced first 11 in the Premier League era and no team today has the combination of skill, class and physicality to match it.

Big Steve, they don't mention invincibles on monday night football and other prime time shows because everyone knows it ain't happening again. That Arsenal trio of Bergkamp, Henry and Pires would destroy any defence in the modern day.
They do actually mention it, that’s the funny thing, but as you rightly pointed out, they know it’s not happening any time soon. Especially when there are no teams that are still undefeated come November

The invisible season is incredible but that arsenal team outside of that massively under achieved. The city team have went to the end time & time again. The only thing that's arguable here is arsenal played against stronger opposition other than Liverpool city dont really have a challenge. The city team have also gained more points than that arsenal team multiple times as well without having to never lose 😂

Are you comparing the teams or the achievements? Team, I’d go Invincibles. Achievement, I’d go Centurions. They also won the league cup, making it a double in 2017-18, smoking Arsenal in the final. I'd rather have 2 trophies, more points, and more goals than drawing against teams like Portsmouth, Charlton, Bolton, etc
If it wasn’t for city - chelsea in 2005 and Liverpool in 2019 would both be invincible
100 point season is done because we go out to win every game which makes us prone to lose the odd game from being open and attacking. Unbeaten can happen when you know you won the league and now plan to sit in for the remainder of the matches, the aim to not lose rather to win. Both amazing achievements but no one cares about being unbeaten anymore (only arsenal fans) because theres too many quality teams in the league. 🙏🤭
