I concur. I quit smoking on July 5th in 2006. That means that as I write this, my 18th anniversary without a cigarette is coming up on the day after Independence Day. I quit cocaine in September of 1996, so I have an upcoming anniversary there as well. That will be 28 years clean and sober without one slip. It hasn't been easy, nor should it be. I am proof that intelligence doesn't make you immune to addiction. I became addicted, as many do, due to a stay in the hospital. What makes it worse is that my wife is a nurse. She is also a big part of why I have managed to survive my addictions and get beyond them. Note that I didn't say cured, as you are never cured or completely recovered. I battle each day, as do you, with that specter. Each day, I tell myself why I should remain drug and cigarette free. That's just my life moving forward. I, too, am Italian ancestry, but I am also Irish ancestry in equal amount. The ironic thing is that both my parents are Irish-Italian, so I have the identical ancestry that both my parents do. That is somewhat uncommon. Being born in 1958, I am a boomer, but so are my parents. They are 1937 and 1939. That made them 21 and 19 when I was born. Actually, my mother was 5 days short of 19, and my father was 9 days short of 21. So that means we share a zodiac sign as well.
The kicker that people miss a lot and the meaning behind this song is that Jesus did all things for us. Its hard not to get emotional when I'm reminded how much he loves us. To anyone feeling alone, Jesus loves you before you were even in your mothers womb. Speak to him with faith and you will never be alone.

Avi was the one who left. Mitch is the high-voiced guy. Despite rumors to the contrary, Avi did NOT help find his replacement. Not sure how that story got started, but it's gotten a LOT of traction on the internet...but it never happened. All that Avi did was post on social media that he thought the group had made the right choice in Matt.

Proof required, not opinion. For the record, the story isn't that he "chose his replacement", but rather that he contributed to the process of helping choose his replacement, a much lower standard to meet. That could be something as simple as a statement of affirmation when they were auditioning potential replacements, and he happens by the studio when Matt is there auditioning, and he hears him and says something like, "Dang, he's good". See how that works?

As I lost my mother nearly 3 years ago in early December, 2021, I get emotional, too, when I listen to this song, and other favorites of hers. I know it’s been a long time since you put this reaction video out, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your achievement in your sobriety path. Proud of you, Jen!!! Actually, the bass singer is Avi Kaplan, who left the band in 2017. He helped find Matthew “Matt” Sallee, his replacement. Mitch is the tenor. He is very much a part of the group. I saw them 2 weeks ago. Pentatonix has released 8 different Christmas albums.

Oh girl- I honestly feel for you. I’m an emotional being too but to see you cry when you talk about your grandmother brings so many tears to me. I had a breakdown Dec 11 and I couldn’t figure out why. I then realized it was my grandmothers anniversary of her passing 35 years ago and it struck me so hard. My tears were endless that day. She raised me when I thought as a child no one really cared about me and I knew that my mother didn’t and she showed it. Keep the faith gf. Love from Utah 💕🎶💕

After all these years is actually not a battle like it once was back when I couldn’t get clean. Today I’m disgusted by the thought of drugs. I lived with an addict who hid it from me for years. It was all bad. Even that didn’t get me off the wagon.

Just Jen, your reaction to this touched me. You spoke of your loved ones you lost who have passed on before you. I/we buried my youngest brother yesterday…the third sibling in 20 months. My sis and I went into the hospital just one day apart a year ago this last Sept. She didn’t make it, but I did, but remained on oxygen for a few months. I now have long Covid with memory, breathing, and functional issues, but am no longer on oxygen. 10 months later, my oldest brother, while in good health, suddenly died of a heart attack, just 10 days after getting his booster shot. Then three weeks ago, my youngest brother, a very healthy, strong self employed plumber with 4 daughters, 3 still living at home and the fourth has 3 beautiful daughters of her own, passed away after battling a “step-septic infection” in his blood. 3 siblings in 20 months…. You know, my hope is in this, he knew Jesus is coming back really soon. All of the prophecies of the Bible of old that your grandmother and great-grandmother prayed for are coming true. The Jewish people have returned to their land and are beginning to understand the things the twelve apostles were trying to tell them. You were created for a very special purpose as were your loved ones. If you would like to know more, I don’t believe I was led to your reaction by accident. I now have long Covid with memory, breathing, and functional issues, but am no longer on oxygen. 10 months later, my oldest brother, while in good health, suddenly died of a heart attack, just 10 days after getting his booster shot. Then three weeks ago, my youngest brother, a very healthy, strong self employed plumber with 4 daughters, 3 still living at home and the fourth has 3 beautiful daughters of her own, passed away after battling a “step-septic infection” in his blood. 3 siblings in 20 months…. You know, my hope is in this, he knew Jesus is coming back really soon. All of the prophecies of the Bible of old that your grandmother and great-grandmother prayed for are coming true. The Jewish people have returned to their land and are beginning to understand the things the twelve apostles were trying to tell them. You were created for a very special purpose as were your loved ones. If you would like to know more, I don’t believe I was led to your reaction by accident. Came to this one after watching your Home Free reaction. I guess it got unblocked. I LOVE your reaction to this one. This was the 1st Pentatonix song I ever heard a few years ago. It blew my mind away. Keep reacting with your emotions!! This is one of those songs that will "hit me in the feels". I will tear up and I don't care who sees it. Jen, remember this, you will see your grandmother again, when you have WON the race that God set up for you, and you hear the words your grandmother heard, "Well done my good and faithful servant. Enter the house that the Lord has prepared for you since the beginning of time. NOT only that, but your grandmother is also still with you in all the cherished memories you have of the time you spent with her. Keep up the great work. Beautiful song very powerful always gives me chill. It was my grandmother's favorite song too and both my grandmothers always were praying the rosary and always had such respect and love for them.
