I just changed from office work (due to the pandemic) to care assistant in a nursing home and I love it. I wish I'd done this job all along. It's been hard changing at age 46 though. It was easy to get into and they took me on there and then! It's a really nice place, a private nursing and residential care home and I love all the residents and staff. All I had as experience was having been a single mum and also supporting my nan aged 94. I'd just completed the access taster course with open university which was called "People, work and society" and got a distinction, so I'm fairly sure that went in my favour. I did look here on TH-cam for tips before the interview and I think that helped too. But I think at the end of the day I'm a caring person and that shows, however you still have to be assertive when need be and a good communicator. Definitely personality counts!
Weird thing is, my personality didn't seem to fit in with office work, I didn't realise I was suited to a different job altogether!
My only downside is my health isn't brilliant so I can't do many days there per week atm. But I want to stay until I retire..and I've never felt like this about a job before! 😊
Lots of ideas in less than 10 minutes. Thanks 🎉
Thank you very much for this video it’s very helpful 😊🤗
