    Honestly, I love the phrase "Mind becomes machine" better than "Man becomes machine". If you've ever played SOMA, you know the frightening paradox of the existence of the soul, and the impossibility of actually transferring a mind. To put it simply, it's not a cut and paste, it's a copy and paste. In the earlier gravitals, this isn't true, but eventually, they sacrificed basic morals for immortality through metal vein and skin, silicon brains, glass eyes. Love what you and Justin are doing.

      Thanks for this reminder that I need to play SOMA. I've been meaning to.

      What I want to see is how some Gravitals managed to get some morality back. It would be an incredibly difficult environment in which to foster those characteristics, or any sort of resistance, which makes it all the more interesting to me to think about.

    In a sense, there's really a moral to this story - the Ruin Haunters feared the other races would become vengeful and isolated themselves, and this bred arrogance and misanthropy that evolved into genocidal tendencies. What if the Ruin Haunters had tried to atone for their betrayal and seek their brethren, maybe even giving a hand to reconstruct humanity?

      The Post Human Empire would've been an OP galactic nation and I bet that they would've hunted down destroyed the Qu earlier I mean just imagine the Modular finally getting revenge against the Qu with the Gravital Tech 😅

    Truly a morbid artwork in more than one way, especially when you think that this process was one on the scale of an entire species, not simply the soldiers but also the civilians, common people and probably also the children, it really makes you wonder if this part of their story didn't play a role when they were defeated by the Asteromorphs and still got the chance to survive and be a part of their empire even after they destroyed more even than The Qu

    I love this!! Keep it up!
    It's really interesting, how the Star People gathered the last surviving worlds, and lied to them about the last stand against the Qu, only for the leaders to surrender to them. They probably thought that the Qu would leave them be, but of course that didn't happen as they were changed, but the Qu did leave their last city there, so that the Ruin Haunters could become the Gravitals.
    I feel almost as though the Qu did it for another reason, like a failsafe of sorts that if their species would perish, then the Gravitals would take their place afterwards. The Qu are really intelligent, so this theory could be wrong, or expanded upon. That the Qu gave them technological advantages to be their successors, should they fail (which would be unlikely to most) but I think this theory kinda expands on the lore behind the Qu, and what was (possibly) going on in their minds during the time they changed the Star People into the Ruin Haunters.

Ok the Tool Breeders' and sail people maybe given how dependent on the sea they were, but, the others, really, your telling me that none of them had any kind of contingency plans for something like this? Your telling me the Snake People didn't have vast networks of underground shelters designed to weather the complete destruction of their planets surface? This is definitely the best Scifi Series I ever read or watch. The Ruin hunters lore added on this chapter fills greatly an empty space from the original book. Most people think that moral and ethics can be surpassed when a biological being becomes "machine", but I strongly disagree. Gravitals kept a sense of twisted morality and ethics that allows them to justify their terrible actions. They were basically overpowered cowards who tried to avoid punishment for millions of years until the Asteromorphs defeat them.

    Question:
    Can the Gravitals put up a fight against the Necrons?

    • @ilosada2933
      @ilosada2933 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably yes, the Necrons’ strategy basically boils down to: Ok, we have some defense ships here and there, but if they want to take Our Tombworld, they will have to land and face MASSIVE attrition.
      Wich is great against enemies who rely on planetary combat, but the main Gravital conquering method is to simply destroy the system’ sun and then launch some asteroids to kill the remaining survivors.
      I think that the Necrons don’t have anything to counter space combat other than scream “that’s not fair!” From below before a giant rock destroys their planet.

    • @ilosada2933
      @ilosada2933 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And as the massive W40K fan that I am, I would like to do this with the other factions.
      Imperium of mankind: Imperial Victory, unlike the Necrons, they are actually decent in space combat. Plus they can do Exterminatus on the Ball’s planets and beat them at their own game. I suppose most of the Gravitals’s planets don’t have oxygen so its not like they can use them.
      Chaos: Uhh, Gravital win? I mean, they have no souls to feed them, and the Gravitals would exterminate any aliens that could have one, so GG?
      Eldar: Eldar win, they live in Craftworlds, who don’t rely on sunlight, making the Gravital fleets useless. Plus OG Aeldari kicked the living sh*t out of the Necrons, so they have experience dealing with robots.
      Orks: Don’t even bother thinking about it. You destroyed an Ork planet? There are thousands more, heck, knowing how the Orks “Behave”, they would attack constantly the Gravitals in order to farm scrapp.
      T’au: Hot take, the T’au have roughly the same size and tech level that the Post-Humans Empires (there seems to be a lore vacuum in how strong they were) and you already know how that went.
      Nids: It could go either way. The Gravitals don’t have flesh to feed the Tyrannids, and as said earlier, since they’re machines most of their planets don’t have oxygen, I think that not breathing is too out of the box for the Nids to evolve. Likewise, the Gravitals seem to really suck at planetary combat, as they can only warp gravity around them, and while immune to the shadow of the warp, the Nids are also immune to the Gravital tactics as they live in hiveships, so pick as you like.
