  • 👉 Learn how to graph a rational function. To graph a rational function, we first find the vertical and horizontal or slant asymptotes and the x and y-intercepts. After finding the asymptotes and the intercepts, we graph the values and then select some random points usually at each side of the asymptotes and the intercepts and graph the points, this enables us to identify the behavior of the graph and thus enable us to graph the function.

    Is anyone else here in 2020 because of quarantine? I learn better in person and this is exactly what I need! I'm about to watch every video so I can hopefully ace my final in my online math class. Thank you for making these!!! Also, you're a really great teacher and you explain complicated math problems in a super simple, super easy to understand way. Seriously, thank you so much!! :)

    I have a graphing calculator but not sure how to graph the exponential...I sometimes don't trust myself plotting points by hand because I get confused since some values are very small.

    when you substituted -4 for f(x) it was equal to approx 2.9 right? that’s where I got confused. why did you plot the 2.9 at that point on the graph.

    So you don't have to plot like 3 points on graphing?

  • @rickystewart2379
    @rickystewart2379 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, to plot a rational function, we would have to find and plot the x and y values until we find the intercepts and plug those into a function for the asymptotes?

    • @brianmclogan
      @brianmclogan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ricky Stewart no plot the x and y intercepts first by plugging in zero for x(y-int) and zero in for y(x-int)

    ur vertical line is on line 2 on the right side of the graph... and 16/7=2.28 I'll round of to 2.30 why ur point seems on close to the 4th line on the left side? aren't we suppose to plot it on the -2 up mid way?
