Transformers is a 2007 American science fiction action film based on the toy line of the same name. The film, which combines computer animation with live-action filming, was directed by Michael Bay, with Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer. It was produced by Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto, and is the first instalment in the live-action Transformers film series.
The film stars Shia LaBeouf as Sam Witwicky, a teenager who gets caught up in a war between the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons, two factions of alien robots who can disguise themselves by transforming into everyday machinery, primarily vehicles. The Autobots intend to retrieve and use the AllSpark, the powerful artifact that created their robotic race that is on Earth, to rebuild their home planet Cybertron and end the war, while the Decepticons have the intention of using it to build an army by giving life to the machines of Earth. Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel, Anthony Anderson, Megan Fox, Rachael Taylor, John Turturro, and Jon Voight also star, while voice actors Peter Cullen and Hugo Weaving voice Optimus Prime and Megatron respectively.

I remember being blown away by Blackout's rampage in the opening sequence and the A-10 attack run on Scorponok. Yeah, this movie wasn't all that good but man, sequences like those are worth watching the movie.

The badassery of seeing that scene for the first time is hard to describe. It was a time before slapped together cgi by fests were common, and before the transformers live action universe had been dragged through the mud. It was fucking awesome.

Even though some aspects are more often overused like Michael bays explosions overall they're very fun to watch
I’m not a die hard Shia fan but I think he did well on this franchise. His absence, in my opinion, was noticeable in later iterations.
Shia was to transformers as Paul walker was to fnf. The franchises just didn’t feel the same without them.

Regardless of how good or bad this movie is, it’s one of those things that’s managed to age really well with just how much effort was put into it. I remember loving this film as a kid and seeing just how much effort was put into it has made me appreciate just how much work was put into it

the first felt boring rewatching but it had heart. I can always rewatch the second and third movies. But others I can’t
I know some people may not like it and yeh the story telling may be weak, but Mike's signature move has always been action. He stated he never cared for critics anyway. All things considered he did a good job bringing it to live action and with each iteration the cgi got better. I remember seeing it for the first time and it was off the chain ⛓ 😳.

Absolutely. He’s not in a studio with all green screen and maybe a table that’s the only thing real lol. He’s on streets blowing shit up. I watched him film Dark of the Moon here for the Chicago battle and he was blowing up cars up and down Michigan avenue. That’s why I’m a big fan. Bad Boys 2 is one of the best action films ever. Sound design of the transformers franchise is amazing.

Michael Bays transformers played a huge role in my childhood, i didn't really cared much about the story back then since i was just a kid, but man... Seeing robots looking so realistic made my imagination wild. Thanks for making this video, it intensified my nostalgia.
There is a huge difference here, when talking about the adult orientation of the movies. The kids who were fans of the original transformers, yeah, they have all grown up, they are, in fact, adults now. So the target audience of the movies was spot on.

Although the movies ignore most of TF lore i do enjoy the way they incorporate Cybertron's history with Earth's. And the flames looked awesome.
The first live-action Transformers film is still the best for me. I was amazed on how the were able to create the transformation sequences. I still laugh at the scene where the Autobots try to hide from Sam's parents outside their house.
Peter Cullen as the voice of Optimus Prime will always give me goosebumps. Optimus always willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good will always make my eyes water. I'll always love bumblebee for never backing down from any fight. I love the 1st Transformers movie.
It has its moments, the best thing that came from the bayformers was the Alligned Continuity which flushed out the lore with the Primes, Primus and Unicron, and added complexity to the cybertronians.
To be fair I've sat through them all and each film has its highlights - I'm actually pretty thankful for these films as the sheer amount of money they made has let Hasbro create some banging toys again. We've been getting a big increase in the variety and quality of figures. Sure some of them are a mess, but I'm so happy that in 2021 I have an updated version of a random deception from 1992 in my collection. Thanks Michael Bay!

Transformers trilogy was my childhood crush in movie category. Amazing robots, fantastic fights and some gut punching, emotional moments was all that was needed for my love. Every time Optimus Prime wore metal plate over his mouth I knew its gonna be one hell of a scene.
PS: I will never forget the sacrifice of Jetfire and increased sheer fire power of Optimus Prime at the end of Revenge of the fallen and Dark side of the moons' the final scene where Optimus Prime kills Megatron and Sentinel with coldness formed by death of his comrades.

They definitely made a good solid start with this movie. It was the unending retcons as to why the Transformers were interested in Earth in the sequels and many sillier moments that sent it off the rails later on. But as far as franchise starters go, the first movie was damned fine entertainment.
I grew up with these movies and they were my first piece of transformers content and still love them to this day and I keep hoping every day they get the justice they deserve and other people will come to appreciate them more as I do.
As one of the "75% of adult men" who grew up with the original Transformers (and GI Joe, He-Man and other half-hour toy commercials) I did enjoy the movie. The sequels, not so much. What struck me about Bay's series is that, unlike the cartoon (except the theatrical movie) characters died. In Bay's first movie, Jazz is ripped in two and killed - permanently. Jazz was my favorite character in the 80s show, in no small part due to the voice work of the legendary Scatman Crothers. That, more than the design changes and adult situations, truly singnaled that this was not a retread of the cartoon.
Granted, in a sanitized 80s kids show there were no deaths despite both sides being armed with heavy weaponry that should rightfully annihilate each other (anyone recall how Cobra soldiers could always bail safely from jets and tanks before the missiles hit?). Hence the cartoons had no real tension because everything had a happy ending. But Jazz getting killed? Game changer. Bay's series went downhill after the first due to more explosions, illogic, incomprehensible action scenes, stupid plots and etc. But the first film was definitely worthwhile.
I mean: Optimus did return from death as a Zombie in the animated show Lmao.
I liked the first movie and I liked the third act of the third film. Everything other than that is pretty awful IMHO.
It doesn’t help that Bay become more and more partisan as the films went on. Like Snyder, he likes to slide in his politics into film (he admits this totally and this isn’t a negative thing in a lot of movies) but, he isn’t an amazing storyteller so he ends up telling the opposite message than he wanted to.
For example: the fourth film is pretty heavily a “anti-Immigration” POV. The Autobots are the “good, legal immigrants” and the decepticons are the “Bad, illegal” ones.
The problem became when Kelsey Grammar’s character accidentally proved the point they were trying to avoid:
“There’s no good Aliens, there’s only them and Us.”
I think Bumblebee proved that you can make a great transformers movie, that makes thematic sense and is still fun. I hope they keep going that way!

What incentive do millions have to "assimilate" when THEY are the majority? Ever been a stranger in another country before? I have. Imagine being a stranger in the country of your birth.
They actually STOPPED immigration for about 40 years so that people could get used to each other for a while. 1880's or 1890's if I recall.

@@LegendNoel73 Then we get bumblebee. A film with no action, with worse CG than this film which is 10 years older, only three actual transformers other than the opening 5 minutes of fan service, and manages t make human characters even more irritating than bay verse ones.
The plot is exactly the same, bumblebee is just a big minion who acts like a retard randomly to move the plot along, everyone except Charlie is a worse human character (the dad alone is worse than sams parents in ROTF) and not my greg was irritating. And also the male, ive forgotten his name is literally just sam with an afro.
The first 3 transformers films were brilliant all things considered. ROTF was very messy, but it was filmed with no script, and the fact the action and CGI look 10 times better than bumblebee should be noted

Transformers is one of the few franchises that got me watching the movies at minimum ones a year. It's just that I grew up with the movies and they are really something special for me.

I saw the first Transformers movie and I was completely blown away by the Visual Effects! Even though the sound the Autobots and Decepticons made when they transformed was barely there.

I revisited this film not long ago. Was never a Transformers kid, but this movie was groundbreaking. It’s still up there with some of the best special effects of all time.
Bay makes popcorn bangers. And this is up there with the best.
No matter what people say about these movies or what reputation they may have or such, all 6 Transformers live action movies are something I love to rewatch when I wish for something visually grand and explosive. They give me some unique and thrilling feeling watching them and in 12 years since being introduced to this franchise and Transformers in general (with ROTF release), my enjoyment still persists and I'm certain it won't go away. Thanks to movie franchise introducing me to Transformers, I also found a lot of fun in watching Transformers Prime (the only animated TF show that really grasped me, mainly thanks to its darker tone) and playing War for Cybertron/Fall of Cybertron games. Looking forward to more live action movies.

I really like the bayformers designs in the first three movies because they feel like what alien robots from another planet would like in real life. Plus, they also have alternate body types instead of all of them appearing humanoid. Also, l sincerely love the fight scenes.

My exposure to the Transformers was this movie that kicked it off. Revenge of The Fallen would fall out of my interest. Dark of the Moon would be eh not good (I mean Soundwave a great addition, but he got wasted real quick) to say the least. And then the rest, you know those films speak for themselves. I still remember when Blackout was intercepted outside Soccent Airbase, and annihilated the base, save for Captain Lennox and his team of survivors. Bay's intro to this live action version was an interesting one at best. So, who else is excited for Rise of The Beasts?

As much as i hate how unrealistically badass the airmen/Chair force is displayed in this movie...i gotta admit seeing those few seconds of Tyrese getting hazed while smiling is fucking golden.
I've been a Transformers fan ever since I can remember, I watched Transformers in the cinema with my older brother, then went to see it 2 more times :) I've seen all theatrical movies in the cinema and when the next one comes out I'm going to watch that one too. Till all are one!
That one scene where the Decepticon smashes through that bus.... I always just imagined the bus was loaded with creepers(from Minecraft). Because if it was people, all the people on that bus would have had to have been strapped to propane caniseters. The alternative to that is, people are made of incendiary explosives.

I remember when I watched this movie as a kid. I enjoyed it so much that I always enjoy it when I watch it again. I enjoyed it's sequels, especially Dark of the Moon. Great video btw, the nostalgia is strong.

Also, the creation matrix was introduced in the Transformers comics. Vector sigma was the life giving super computer in the Transformers G1 cartoon. IDW combined the two ideas.
They turned the creation matrix into the matrix of leadership in the comics as well after it was introduced in the transformers the movie.

I loved these movies, specially the first one. It kept going downhill afterwards though, and it really died for me on age of extinction. But thank you very much for making this video, your channel is awesome.

Considering I grew up with the first three, I am very biasd when I say they are among my favorite movies.
Aside from a few stinkers, all the optimus prime and bumblebee scenes are legendary, especially the fights regardless of how bad the movies are. Bumblebee's car form choice and voice problem were great touches honestly, its cute and badass at the same time
"Michael has a top notch. World class crew." From one of the producers on Transformers. But not world class writers. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the first Transformers, Dark of The Mon, The Rock, and Armageddon. But the rest is a different story.
Yes the writing was terrible, but for me the big flaw was the movie needed to be about Transformers with humans not humans with Transformers. Transformers should have been the main characters of the movies with supporting human cast not the other way around
@@cassidymurphy2450 Exactly right. The transformers should've had 70% of the movie, and Shia and the military plot (Tyrese and Josh duhamel) taking the other 30%. The whole pentagon and Megan fox relationship should've also been cut to streamline the movie.
This was my first introduction to the Transformers and in my opinion the best of the series until bumblebee

For 2007 the cgi in the first movie is incredible and even till this day its still amazing
My dad grew up with the original transformers and GI Joe shows and I remember when I was like 3 the trailer for the first transformers came out and my dad lost his shit. Me and him actually talked about this the other day about me being 18 and loving all the old shows. But he loved the first film because it introduced his childhood to me in its own unique way while still keeping the original sounds and arcs. But I grew up on these films and I absolutely love them.
I still absolutely love the first movie. The other ones can be forgotten

But the action was about as compelling as skids and mudflap scrapping in ROTF, the designs for live action were far to basic, theres only 3 actual transformers outside the opening 5 minutes of fan service, and bumblebee is just a minion who acts like a retard to progress the plot, and dropkick literally does nothing, and shatter soes nothing except look at a screen and manipulate jhon cena. Other than charlie, whos a pretty good character, they managed to make the humans worse. How in the name of god did they create the step dad in this film, hes sams parets cringe in one character. And the male character, ego or whatever hes called is literaly just sam witwicky but a bit less funny
I enjoy every bit of Bayverse. I watch it for the Transformers, and just ignore the writing after the 3rd one. No matter how many times I catch any part of Transformers on t.v, I watch it as well. Never get tired of them. Hope Michael Bay would come back and finish it off with Unicron, I don't care what anyone say or think, I'd still support him and his film. With that being said, I'm so hyped for the ,"Transformers, Rise of the Beast!" Can't wait to see it's 1st trailer as well

I grew up with the Transformers cartoon and comics since the 80s. I do love the live action movies even with all the faults. Bumblebee was amazing. I liked how they made it so it could have been either a reboot or a prequel, with Bumblebee turning into the Camaro at the end plus a few scenes with a young Agent Simmons.
It's sad to me, and many (often, now, estranged) fans of Transformers, that, even after all these years, our fears and criticisms for the direction that these movies have given the franchise, are being misrepresented as bitching about superficial aspects like just the design aesthetics.
What the old Marvel cartoons and comics, managed, seems to be still elusive for people, who weren't there, to understand. All they had to do, was, sell the toys. That's it. And yet they rose so far above that requirement, that they created a living breathing fictional world, populated by countless defined characters and a deep and unique mythology. Not at all unlike any of the best pieces of Marvel source material, that is now being turnt into genuinely well-received blockbuster cinema.
Bay's Transformers movies, while technically impressive, essentially, un-did, the old cartoon's triumph of elevating a toy commercial into a proper and engaging mythology, by turning the franchise back into nothing more than a toy commercial, with soulless CGI non-character toys that just blow things up.

Me too. The action scenes, CGI and characters were good in the Bayverse imo. The plot ruined it all. Transformers 2, 4 and 5 were horrible. Dark of the Moon could have been amazing but there were a lot of dumb shit in the plot

Hey man, your video is amazing!!! This shows the size of the challenge the team behind those scenes faced while making the movies. Is easy for audiences and critics to say harsh things about the movie, but no one can understand what those guys had to deal with. For me, I had a blast watching them, they are not perfect or even close to that, but I knew there was something special about this, it looks like something made with passion, Michael Bay knows how to put a bombastic show in front of the audiences, idc about his recycled shots and other cliches, his vision is clear and unique on its own way. Thanks for this video man, stay safe.

The first Bayformers was OK. Revenge of the fallen was horrible. Dark of the moon was better than the first and ROTF, since it felt like the end(of course it's not). Age of extinction is bad. The last knight is😧
The last scene of Dark was worth the admission on its own. I just hated how they killed Optimus on every movie.

Even with all their flaws, the Bay movies remain my favorite saga in the franchise.
