I've been waiting for this! There's been a drought of Ryu content since people moved on after playing him in demo/betas :( Thank you so much for this, Nephew!!!
Kinda sad how quickly people dismissed or wrote off Ryu as lackluster compared to the rest of the cast when players like Jimmy and E. Walker are showing that Ryu has insane damage when put to good use. By far this has been one of the most interesting interpretations of Ryu we've ever seen and I'm happy you're doing the road to master challenge. Good luck!
@@sixeyes4202 I didn't like SFV as a whole so I can't say definitely because I didn't spend a lot of time with it but my response to your statement would be that Ryu has historically had less options overall than Ken. In both SF3 and 4 Ken generally had more tools and options than Ryu but Ryu had more universally applicable setups for a variety of situations. It comes down to preference but I don't think Ken having a bit more to work with is an indictment of Ryu.
I've been waiting for this video. Since World Tour made me really like Ryu as a character, been dying for a good video introduction on how to properly play him. Thanks for all your work Nephew.
Without any spoilers does Ryu only show up after a certain chapter or is he there from the off? Again no spoilers but just confirm or deny if I have to wait after a certain point or do I just have to search for him as I have yet to find him thanks!
Stress makes learning harder, have fun and be consistent, you’ll progress if you have fun playing 2 hours everyday over stressing playing 10 hours every 3 days or something
You can use hashogenki to block projectiles, if you time it right it will completely dissipate it. You can also use it as a defensive counter to some special moves. I haven't fully experimented with it yet
Love this content! Looking forward to Guile xD also, be great if you can comment with some insights during your fight. Like maybe talk about your thoughts/ tactics etc
I play modern but for me after the any light attack you can cancel into it For medium attack you have to do it super fast Heavy attack you got more time than medium (This is if your using imputs)
@@SSJBELI I’m playing classic. Turns out I was trying to do it fast so I was missing inputs. Started practising doing the qcf motion slowly and I’m getting it more consistently now 🙂
This is the first Street fighter i enjoy ryu more than Ken ALSO HASHOGEKI IS MY FAVORITE ATTACK Also i found myself doing better and just enjoying him more than other characters also why do i keep getting the players online who like to spam forward heavy punch or kick and then grab or they drive impact if you do anything at all its so boring to fight against
@@volktol4432 Ok i'll give you some tips for Ryu. 1st. Try to do consistent anti air either with shoryuken or crouch HP because plenty of gold players loves to jump (neutral jump or cross up). By doing consistent anti air, you have maybe 30% chance of winning the match. 2nd. Learn Ryu best normals like standing MP / HP or crouch MP / MK. Usually these normals have good range, pretty safe on-block, and also can be cancel to special moves, supers, drive rush, or drive impact. Use these normals to whiff punish your opponents. 3rd. Don't try to do advance long combos if you're not ready. Just get used to Ryu bread and butter combos like standing MP > crouch MP / MK > tatsu / donkey kick, standing jab x2 > shoryuken, etc. Long combos have bigger damage but if you're not used to do it then you have high risk for failure. So be sure to master simple combos before you level up to intermediate or advance combos. 4th. If your opponents manage to push you in the corner you then you need to calm down and carefully analyze what your opponent gonna do. First option, *you need to prepare for drive impact* . If you see some ink effect + slow down then ready your drive impact to counter OR you can quickly *jab 3 times to break drive impact armor* . Second option, your opponent gonna throw you over and over which will be really frustrating if you don't know how to do throw tech. But if you think your opponent gonna throw then the more simple way to avoid it is *neutral jump* . Or you can do super lvl 1-3 because it is invisible to throw. Third option, if your opponent jump on you then you just anti air. There are a lot of mental stack when you in the corner. So, carefully pick which one you need to prioritize based on your opponents behavior. 5th. Gold players love to dash or drive rush like Juri, Cammy, Kim, or Ken players. So, you need to keep check their dash or drive rush with Ryu standing MK or crouch MK which have good range to cancel their dash / drive rush. I hope my tips can help you get out from gold rank. Have fun and good luck mate.
@@thepuppetmaster9284 thank you for the tips I’ll try it, and one thing, I’ve actually been grabbed out of a super. Only once, idk if it was a bug but watch out for that
@@volktol4432 That could be bugs or maybe some super aren't throw invisible. I need to lab it again. Thx for the reminder bro. Oh and I forgot to write two more tips for you. One, try to watch replay match in CFN mode. Replay match is a good source where you can learn and analyze your match. You can also search other players matches and save it to your replay list. And the last one, just try to have fun. Remember, we play fighting games for fun and getting good needs time especially for a game that only came out three weeks ago. Your muscle memory are still adapting with these new stuff. If you feel frustrated after losing streak then take a break from the game and do something that can fresh your mind. I also feel frustrated multiple times to the point i wanna quit lol.
I found this video very difficult to extract information from. The way you cover combos and options seems like you assume your audience has mastered all the in-game tech, and you make no distinction between BnB options that are high execution and ones that are easier. You also don't really say anything meaningful in-game while you're playing.

Ryu is nice and solid just don't have gimmicks so neutral must be good and hit confirms must be crisp .
I wish I had full vods of these xD
What is "oki"? I feel like Im missing a whole mechanic
Oki is what the attacking player does while other character is standing back up from a knockdown
Advantage on frames as the opponent rises from a knockdown
Simply when they get knocked down and predict whether they will press, block high or low and pressure accordingly
Can’t wait for SIM road to master !
Ryu will always be my number 1
what do u use as controller?
thanks!
Yeah everyone said Ryu wasn't good but I like him.
How do you charge fire ball throw 2
Great video
What does oki mean? What is thst
Oki means get up in Japanese.
Okizeme means get up attack.
It's when you attack the opponent as he is getting up from being floored.
yes! is the moves you can do while your opponent is getting up
Thanks… Waiting on Dhalsim Modern
You can heavy tatsu after the charged level 2 and get oki. You are max +6 I think.
Do you use a regular controller?
i see on ur spreadsheet at the end that u got juri to master, why is there no video :I
Donkey charge lol
