G.I. Joe is one of the greatest cartoons of all time! The way that it has withstood the test of time proves that the fight between Joe and Cobra will go on and on...
Hahahaha, I loved the show. Those were the days... Thanks for posting! Any of you've ever thought about the impressive waste of ammo in this series? Tons every episode and nobody dies or gets wounded!
I remember wanting to be in Gi Joe when I was a kid. I had the toys, the guns, everything. GI Joe was a good way to teach kids about patriotism and had those famous PSA's(Knowing is Half the Battle).I never thought I'd end up joining the U.S. Army and becoming a Paratrooper. Now that I look back at this cartoon.Sunbow did a great job with animating the battles(especially during the intros) and made it look pretty real while using good referencing.
G.I. Joe = The only war to ever be fought with absolute zero casualties because everyone always gets punched instead of shot and leaps out of vehicles before they get blown to hell. What a great show
Ahhhh the memories of childhood....when your only concern wasn't your job, your mortgage, your kids/family, - it was saving up all your cash just to buy the GI Toys...the F14 JET...you know I just had to get a paper route in order to save up and buy the JET...ya I liked GI JOE...until VOLTRON showed up! NICE!!!
i agree with runback22, cartoons in the late 80s and 90s were the bomb....transformers, He-man G I Joe are still today THE CLASSICs...with these new ones coming up, they have the creativity but without its foundation....no baseline
📌 Wasn't a die-hard G.I Joe fan, but Roadblock was my favorite character when I'd see him in an episode. Oh and the Twin guys were pretty cool too! Yooo Joe! 2022!🍻😂
Got to love how they come running out of the mayhem of that giant flying craft blowing to hell. Not the first intro, but great upload. Fun to watch after all these years.
Good old 80's cartoon...I miss the original G.I. Joe just as much as Transformers. If only G.I. Joe and Transformers had a real crossover in the TV series. Then again, I'm looking forward to the new G.I. Joe live action movie.
I do too. THAT'S how you kick bad guy butt! Yo Joe! This was worth it for the nostalgia factor alone. Sure, it's corny but it's perfect for 8 year old boys back then.
Mass Device is the first Mini series with The Cobra Strikes being the first episode of that Mini series. The Revenge of Cobra was the second Mini series.
No, this is actually Season 1 (1985) but there were 2 miniseries prior to the first season. The fist miniseries was in 1983, called "The M.A.S.S. Device" wich had the opening with the jets flying. The second in 1984 was "Revenge Of Cobra" wich had G.I.JOE leaving the base at the beginning.
Before the 80's cartoon came out I do remember back in the early 70's 1 guy who had a beard that was shown in the comic books, and he was called GI. JOE. he was the orginal Gi Joe before they used the name as a Team in the 80's cartoon.
4. GJ Joe became a series, and this opening is the 1st season opening of the regular weekly show.. even though, its the 4th version of the opening made. 5. GI Joe: Rise of Serpentor mini series leading to season 2 6. Season 2 7. GI Joe: The Movie 8. After the movie there was at least one more mini series, and perhaps a season..but I lost track.. they changed the song to Got To Get Tough.. Yo Joe version.
I agree. It brought back memories watching this intro again. Very good times. And I was open to the concept of the film and watched the trailer until I saw the "Halo" suit. GI Joe is supposed to be the best of the best with no equal. No Goddamn power armor. They got the job done without it.
This is the opening I grew up with . It would be great if they would bring this back with today's animation . I just hope they's fallow the story line ! I'm not sure as to how the new movei is gonna look though .
"Yo, Joe!!" He'll fight for freedom wherever there's trouble G.I. Joe is there! G.I. JOOOOE (A Real American Hero... G.I. Joe is there!) It's G.I. Joe against Cobra, the enemy Fighting to save the day He never gives up, he's always there Fighting for freedom over land and air! G.I. JOOOOOE (A Real American Hero... G.I. Joe's there!)
Oh, I wasn't trying to insult any vet in anyway. My father is a ret. Naval Air crewman and my late grandfather was a Lt Cmdr piloting a TBF over the Pacific in WWII. So I have a lot of respect for our vets. My point was, before the Real American Hero line of the 80's, G.I. Joe was just your everyday soldier doing his duty in a messed up situation trying to stay alive.
I never watched this series when I was lil, till yesterday after watching the movie, and noticed several Joe's aren't included in the film, as well as only for about 3 of the originals villains (maybe more in coming seasons, but just watched 3 of the episodes yet lol)
Thanks for your greetings, comments, polemics and debates. I was an idealist student when I uploaded this video, now I'm a worker inside the system. Anyway, I'm an american from South America, because America is a continent, not only a country. Greetings to all.
G.I. Joe is one of the greatest cartoons of all time! The way that it has withstood the test of time proves that the fight between Joe and Cobra will go on and on...
This show kicked ass when I was a kid, and still does.

Every day, Monday-Friday, it was a race to get home from grade school in time to watch GI Joe... and Voltron, of course...
Hahahaha, I loved the show. Those were the days... Thanks for posting!
Any of you've ever thought about the impressive waste of ammo in this series? Tons every episode and nobody dies or gets wounded!
Wow, I'm 33 now and still get goose bumps from listening to that theme song!..haha
Yeah I love gi Joe a real American hero animated show series theme tune
Man, this brings back such good memories from back in the day.
this used to be so cool back in the day... what a classic, alot of memories
Gotta love the intensity of the battles, and the fact that no one was either maimed, injured, or killed during them. Good stuff.
The 80's kicked ass because we were kids and young. The movies associated with that experience are a 'time machine.'
We all have our time machines..
Damn...haven't seen this for awhile since the 80's...go toke it up and watch this again...it's worth it, lol!
I remember wanting to be in Gi Joe when I was a kid. I had the toys, the guns, everything. Freakin good intro! I wish the entire series would come to the UK on DVD
I had to watch this again after seeing the trailer for the new movie, to remind me what GI Joe was really all about. Go Joe!
Man the memories coming back, thanks for the nostalga :D
This intro is pretty freaking epic. Best version of the theme song too.
Man,miss G.i joe , miss my childhood days and miss my g.i joe toys..lol
Awesome, I can still name the characters. Shows how much I loved this show when I was a kid.
dalmain77 lol
I love this GI JOE a lot
seeing this brings back so many memories damn i wish it was 82 again
omg the memories what a great show.
I grew up watching GI JOE cartoons as a kid. They inspired me so much that I applied for the Air Force Academy. Unfortunately I wasn't accepted.
G.I. Joe = The only war to ever be fought with absolute zero casualties because everyone always gets punched instead of shot and leaps out of vehicles before they get blown to hell.
What a great show
Holy crap! G.I. Joe is back in full swing! Nice!!
GIJOe Is back! I can hardly wait to see the live movie. Ray Park is Snake Eyes!
I love how they have all those advanced weapons yet still wrestle each other in close quarter combat!
📌 Wasn't a die-hard G.I Joe fan, but Roadblock was my favorite character when I'd see him in an episode. Oh and the Twin guys were pretty cool too! Yooo Joe! 2022!🍻😂
Yo Joe! I love my childhood , seriously!
COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!
There should be a show like this today!
I'm so happy The Hub is airing this on TV along with Transformers.
Damn!!! this shit done brought back memories aw man i miss those days waking up early in the morning just to catch an episode.
Classic.
The intro was pretty kickass for its time. Cobra Commander was really a cool character.
Oh snap, you nailed it, and you can't forget all the dam cool toys!
G.I. figures are still the best quality toys ever made.:)
Got to love how they come running out of the mayhem of that giant flying craft blowing to hell.
Not the first intro, but great upload. Fun to watch after all these years.
I didn't watch a lot of JI Joe but I always loved the opening song
Trust me; they still do and it has never been limited to children's programming.
He never gives up He stays til the fights Won, GI Joe will Dare..
best intro EVER of any cartoon or show
Destro rules!! i love this cartoon! bring backs old good memories =D
brings back the memories :')
Good old 80's cartoon...I miss the original G.I. Joe just as much as Transformers.
If only G.I. Joe and Transformers had a real crossover in the TV series.
Then again, I'm looking forward to the new G.I. Joe live action movie.
holy shit this song brought me back to being 5 again, smiled the whole time...
GI just ran out of an exploding airship, that is awesome on so many levels.
Flint tossing Cobra Commander through the window and into a globe is what this opening is all about.
Awsome classic cartoon watched it everytime was on
I do too. THAT'S how you kick bad guy butt!
Yo Joe!
This was worth it for the nostalgia factor alone.
Sure, it's corny but it's perfect for 8 year old boys back then.
This clip is great!
YO JOE!!!
Mass Device is the first Mini series with The Cobra Strikes being the first episode of that Mini series. The Revenge of Cobra was the second Mini series.
i have not seen this since i was like 4. good times good times..
we need this 80s cartoons back and the action figures too
Don't worry. Storm Shadow returns in the game, which is a sequel. The story is based on the 1st 2 GI Joe miniseries.
Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were badasses of a level that's never been equaled in cartoons since.
wow i remember that same intro in kindergarden i loved gi joe when i was young.
Before the 80's cartoon came out I do remember back in the early 70's 1 guy who had a beard that was shown in the comic books, and he was called GI. JOE. he was the orginal Gi Joe before they used the name as a Team in the 80's cartoon.
I loved that they threw that line out in the movie.....Great nod to the cartoon....
Dude, I saw this a couple years back on Cartoon Network. It was pretty kickass, even though it first aired years before my birth.
Oh man, the Skystriker was the crown jewel of every kids' toys in the 80's.
GI Joe will air on The Hub Network in October
I really loved that Cobra Commander made a cameo return in two episodes of transformers ^^

The 80's ruled!
I'm seeing GI Joe today. YO JOE!!!
"We desperately need cartoons like this today!"
@winnslaw i agree. i like alot of the older cartoons.i love these show
This coming Venture Bros. episode does the greatest parody of this entire sequence.
I've never seen such a hardcore battle with so much throwing, and no shooting.
They're now doing an adult series called "GI Joe Resolute". It's being written by Warren Eliss.
Yeah, It's the first season of the actual show .The 1st 2 were mini-series songs.
I love how all the joes, even lady jaye can throw anybody at least ten feet! :)
Classic! Good show! They do not make them like this anymore.
i love gi joe =,)
I like the line "Fighting against Cobra, the enemy"
It Rocks and I am german! ;)
Can´t Wait for The Movie!
i love how they all run out of the fire unscathed.
OMG i remeber this! i used to have his action figures.
lol.
I agree. It brought back memories watching this intro again. Very good times. And I was open to the concept of the film and watched the trailer until I saw the "Halo" suit. GI Joe is supposed to be the best of the best with no equal. No Goddamn power armor. They got the job done without it.

Even though I am ussully against war, especially needless wars, Iraq, this song is awsomelly catchy. Peace
"Yo, Joe!!"

Not the only ones that can, but the only ones that will.
I saw the movie, and it was very good.
Don't forget THUNDERCATS and SILVERHAWKS ! Those were my favorites !
I never watched this series when I was lil, till yesterday after watching the movie, and noticed several Joe's aren't included in the film, as well as only for about 3 of the originals villains (maybe more in coming seasons, but just watched 3 of the episodes yet lol)

I am Canadian and I watched this as a kid. It was a good cartoon that had a good message. Also there is no way this is season 1.
Thanks for your greetings, comments, polemics and debates. I was an idealist student when I uploaded this video, now I'm a worker inside the system. Anyway, I'm an american from South America, because America is a continent, not only a country. Greetings to all.
I really miss this cartoon
