Awesome porches. I'm not trying to be a critic, but just something to consider is adding some 2x4 blocking under your rim joist to help support it so you aren't only relying on a few nails or screws to hold everything up. Or maybe lag bolts through the post. It will help it last longer and be safer. We're enjoying your videos.
GREAT JOB... you really turned that place into something awesome! Too many people would of saw the outside of that and passed it by, you saw a home and made a lovely one out of it!
I'm trying to build a simple porch for an older man who isn't able to do it himself and he was to the point of getting a contractor after being screwed over by some other guys who he paid and they never did anything and never came back. MY POINT IS Y'all made this so easy to understand... LoL 😆 this is the best video, for me, that I've found because I'm a 43 yr old chick who has never built a porch😁. This so easy to understand and you showed the hardware which is AWESOME because normally videos tell you, what it is, I don't know what the hell this metal pieces that hold boards in place, were called, but I know what they look like, know I'm not talking about the screws... LoL 🤣. THANK YOU for this simple understanding video for non pros!!!
I love your property. I always wanted to live out in the country like that. I really like the layout of your mobile home. The kitchen looks amazing! And your husband done a wonderful job on both those decks.
Good video I like the blue cabinets and countertops needed this little refresher idk how anyone can judge but I love them and the freedom it brings knowing I can load it up and go
Beautiful deck! I've used your plan to add a deck onto my single wide - free standing of course. My carpentry skills are marginal but I'm getting it done using what I see on this video. Thank you so much for sharing. I've searched YT and haven't found any videos like yours. My house has gutters so I don't think I'll have any leak problems but the upper back band will hang below the top of the entry door. Not the best but will work.
I am working a trailer myself I would like more detail on how you did stuff. You did a good job could you share some insight on how to do that job? Thanks a lot
Awesome porch! Its really like having another room. We always liked going out on Mama's porch and playing cards. Lots of fun memories....the flooring inside looks really good!... I had to laugh when you talked about not understanding building. I'm directionally challenged so i completely related ! haha!... btw, i was a medsurg nurse for over 30 yrs... Blessings to ya'll.
That’s exactly right! We live on our porches. Now that it’s done we almost wish we went bigger. Lol I’m so glad you get it. Nursing is completely different
Deck looks great. I added one to my front. Didn’t have room to put one on the back. I had two levels built. There are two big long steps the width of the deck going up to the upper level. I have all my flowers on it, which I usually don’t have to cover even in the winter as it hardly ever drops below freezing here.
Very nice work! Any ideas on how to move a 10x20 porch just like that to another place on my property? My husband has an idea of cutting legs of porch, attaching castor wheels and a ball hitch and pulling it with truck...?
I really wish that you guys would have shared videos on how to do this step by step. I'm not a carpenter but here not too long for now I will be trying to do this to my house and I really wish you guys would have put a little bit more details like in the footers did you use concrete gravel just dirt or quikrete ?
Love yalls deck very awesome . Been wanting to build a deck but I'm having to do little by little first would it be the same thing if I build a deck first then add the lean to after ? And just use post brackets to connect them ?
Looks great! We are in the process of getting our modular home on our property. Question- did he use concrete in the posts in ground? We'd love to build a bigger porch off ours. Tysm
That’s so exciting! We did not concrete them in. A lot of what we did was temporary because we had planned on eventually moving it out and building. You can never go wrong with a bigger porch if the budget allows for it. We live on ours when the weather is nice!
Also when you're standing on the porch how high is the ceiling. Is that a 7 ft ceiling. You said you had 12 ft poles and there were 2 ft down in the ground how high up is the porch itself and how high is the roof
It’s not a long shot at all. I’ll see what we can get together. Maybe I can get a video up with a supply list and a more in depth explanation of the porch. I’ll work on this!
Just found you. Love what you're doing. Love it. BUT..,. when adding the porch , instead of covering window beside door, why didn't you go door to front end of house. Was there not enough room. Just wondering, sending love your way
Oh my 🤦🏽♀️ I totally messed that up. Thank you for catching it. I think this is the video where I said I am not very experienced when it comes to construction. It shows!
They didn’t attach anything. They aligned the roof metal under the gutter but didn’t attach it. Our county would not allow us to attach the porch to the house. They said that would make it permanent. Unfortunately it’s not 100% water proof.
We had to get a permit to have the home moved onto our land. In order to get occupancy the porches were one thing that had pass inspection. I would check with your county. Everyone is different.
New subscriber... I love what you all are doing! The flooring looks great! I haven't seen that weathered look of vinyl planks before, what brand/style is it called? I have enjoyed watching the transformation! Your husband is very handy!
Nice job! Could you please list the materials you used to build the porch and deck? I’m a female and would like to purchase the supplies needed. Can also email them to me.
so no support beams going across hmmm not sure I wanna stand on that and are the post in cement and why only 2 feet deep most go 3 to 4 feet deep in cement
That is still to be determined. We have tried a few different things and so far it’s still leaking. At least it’s getting better. Since it’s a mobile home we couldn’t attach the porch directly to the house.
If you're a ICU nurse....heck, you can figure out anything! I retired after nearly 50 years as CCU RN and then CGRN. What ever you do, don't go into management!
You couldn’t pay me enough to go into management. I belong at the bedside. I’m doing cardioversions and TEEs right now. Great hours and great doctors so I can’t complain!
@@JohnsonBranchFarm it's a great profession....hard, but rewarding. I spent last 25 years in GI. We did TEE's as the drug nurse. Cardioversions done in ICU out patient bed but we went up years ago to sedate. With Propofol....we gladly bowed out. Started in Coronary Care in 1970....wow have things changed! Happy for you. Great job of a Reno. Also watched Diyfferent...all so precise and attention to detail. Even though I worked full time and did 16-72 hours of Call time each week, weekends when not on call my sister and I did Reno on our kids homes. That was fun.
Correct. But as I said in the video I am not a carpenter. My husband has never built a porch. I would rather show you an idea and you take it and run with it then show you how to do it wrong. There is a lot of false information out there and I don’t want to contribute to that.

I love your new porch!!! Perfect for a cup of coffee in the morning! And you can hang pretty plants!
Darla in NC
We will be drinking lots of coffee and sweet tea on this porch! I can’t wait to hand some pretty plants this spring.
Turned out VERY nice!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for stopping by!
Your husband is the best builder 💪 I ever seen. Great job!l
Thank you for this video! Your husband is a talented man.

Had some laughs. Good terminology! I’m doing this too, thought I’d give the YT a look. Glad I found this. Your guy is a good carpenter.
Thank you! He is very good! That’s what happens when someone who is not a carpenter try’s to film the carpenter.

"i am not construction-minded..."
Yeah, we can tell. Lol! Loved the video! Trying to build a deck so this was a big help.
I own it! 😆 I’m glad it helped you!
Your home looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing
Looks really good! Inside too !
nice work. I hope that it serves you and your family well for many years to come

You're so lucky to have a guy work so hard at it. I'm a gal and have to do all this.
What a difference those floors make wow !
Right! They were definitely the right choice!
Great job dad!!!
Those floors with your kitchen cabinets 😍 I'm obsessed!!
Me 2! It came out Better than we imagined!
Wow everything is looking good!
Thank you so much!
Wow that guy did a good job.

Just a thought- skirting - don't go vinyl - Weed eaters just eat it up. Spend a little extra and go metal- it will stand up a lot better.
About how much will a metal one run for
Wished we could have seen how he attached the porch roof to the mobile home roof.
He didn’t. According to our county we can not attach anything like a porch to the mobile home.
Love it! The floors look awesome!
Thank you. They turned out better than we thought!
Very nice work! Any ideas on how to move a 10x20 porch just like that to another place on my property? My husband has an idea of cutting legs of porch, attaching castor wheels and a ball hitch and pulling it with truck...?

Nice job look good
Thank you 🇺🇸
Love this. How did you guys secure the roof of the front and back deck? Our county says mobile homes can't have decks attached to the house.
Ours says the same thing. It’s just right up against it and Aaron did a drip plate underneath it kind of like a gutter to catch the water.
Hello can you tell me what all sizes material you used I would like to build exactly the same porch thank you
Any luck on getting this material list?
Beautiful good job can't wait to see it done
Great job!! And thanks for the idea
You’re welcome!

Do you have a video of the back porch building ? I meant back porch the small one that u show on the video
Also when you're standing on the porch how high is the ceiling. Is that a 7 ft ceiling. You said you had 12 ft poles and there were 2 ft down in the ground how high up is the porch itself and how high is the roof

Good job
It’s beautiful
I'm trying to build a in close porch need your advice.
Crockpot meals and less caffeine! A beautiful home means nothing if your sick in it!
How would you bolt the posts if you had a gutter?
Well done
My mom had a piano left in her home and she added a wider piece of wood on top and uses it as Buffett on holidays to set desserts.
That is a great idea!
Probably a long shot but is there anyway you can give a list of the material you used for the front porch please. Trying to build one the exact same.
It’s not a long shot at all. I’ll see what we can get together. Maybe I can get a video up with a supply list and a more in depth explanation of the porch. I’ll work on this!

I believe the flooring you guys did is laminate, not vinyl plank, right?
Yes it is laminate. I had to check with Aaron to make sure. I hope I didn’t get it confused!
@@JohnsonBranchFarm It says "Vinyl Plank" in the video title and description so it was just a little confusing on that part :)
Oh my 🤦🏽♀️ I totally messed that up. Thank you for catching it. I think this is the video where I said I am not very experienced when it comes to construction. It shows!
@@JohnsonBranchFarm No worries. We're all learning as we go :)

How did you flash the porch to the mobile home? I’m about to do one like that

I live in mobile home park that says no digging and got metal awning. how can I hang awning?
Such a talented husband.
He says thank you

Love the porches and flooring..did you have to get a permit for the porches
We had to get a permit to have the home moved onto our land. In order to get occupancy the porches were one thing that had pass inspection. I would check with your county. Everyone is different.
Lot a work on that. I hope they revamped the insulation.
What did he put in the ground with the post, cement Im guessing, didn't see thst step
Looks good! How did you flash where the porch roof meets the home roof ?
Aaron bought regular flashing from Home Depot and put it up under the gutter and connected to the porch.
Do you have video of him doing that? You kinda skipped steps of him building the porch 😔
New subscriber... I love what you all are doing! The flooring looks great! I haven't seen that weathered look of vinyl planks before, what brand/style is it called? I have enjoyed watching the transformation! Your husband is very handy!
Thank you so much. The brand is home decorations in Anne arbor oak.

so no support beams going across hmmm not sure I wanna stand on that and are the post in cement and why only 2 feet deep most go 3 to 4 feet deep in cement
How did you do to transition from the mobile home to the porch to keep it from leaking
That is still to be determined. We have tried a few different things and so far it’s still leaking. At least it’s getting better. Since it’s a mobile home we couldn’t attach the porch directly to the house.
What were the dimension for this 😮 also do you have a material list for this I would like to replicate
I am looking to build a new porch if it is not too nosy what was the approximate cost?
We did the front and back porch at the same time. We spent around $1000 to do both. That includes the metal for the roof.
Love the flooring where did you get it?
It’s an arbor oak in the Home Depot brand.
I just wanna know about the top ledger board

How did you do it where the floor meets the mobile home
He put it up to it but didn’t attach it. We can’t attach it to the mobile since it’s supposed to stay mobile. It’s our code.
How much did it cost to build thick porch?
Two years ago it cost us $1,000 to do the front and back porch.
Is this attached to the home?
She said it like 20x in the beginning
Y’all have so many restrictions, here in west Texas we live right outside the city limits so we don’t have all those restrictions
That’s great. From what I have heard there are worst 😬
You want the weight of the porch on top of the 4x4 post not screwed or bolted to the sided, and you should have used 6x6 post
The posts are fine.
I have a double wide mobile home
That's look like Alabama cou 😭side
*its just a post*
Your video skipped all the crucial steps, whst you put in the ground with the posts, how to attach the roof. That was what I was hoping to see
Is that your husband doing all that work. Wow talk abt free labor. Good girl / mom and wife to a single wide trailer. Get r done yal. Later
Absolutely no instructions advise methods...nada
