Thank you so much for this video. I've been struggling to visualize what high and low pressure systems look like and their affect on the weather. I kept confusing them with fronts.

You forgot to mention, high pressure and low pressure are relative, especially to times of the year. Highest high pressure during the summer can be lower than the lowest low pressure during the winter.

@@MorningstarEstrella Pretty sure you're being sarcastic on this, but whatever. It just to put things into perspective for people who don't know, because this is all relative. There is no hard and fast when it comes to this stuff. The differential is more important than the absolute in this context.

Even though I passed my PPL meteo, pressure systems always kinda confused me. But seeing it in 3D like this makes it so much easier to understand!

Ill give an experience based answer to your question. Based on what I have seen, 2 out of 3 part 61 outfits will gladly take your money and expect you to teach yourself everything. At 100 hours pre-solo, I had maybe 2 hours ground with my instructor. Of course, you don't know what you don't know and I approached my flight training with an attitude ready to be taught. I assumed nothing and set aside ALL biases. It cost me $16,000 before I moved on to another outfit. That first instructor took me on appx. 10 flights having instructed me on very little, then one day just said "ok get us back into the Class C." I had no clue what to do, he had expected me to learn by simply watching him and mimicking him. This is all for PPL, my current instructor is beside himself with the degree to which I was being taken advantage of. I don't have a solution unfortunately, it seems like flight training could use a little more FAA oversight as much as I hate to say it. I hear that many 141 outfits will rob you blind too. My suggestion would be to find a senior pilot who is willing to mentor you and tell you what is and isn't a normal or acceptable learning experience.

Can you explain why high-pressure systems are stable and low-pressure systems are unstable? Both, as you explain, cause a vertical movement of air. It seems that in a high-pressure system, air moving upward would cause winds coming in laterally to replace the upward-displaced air.
