If your still playing in games, you could get a friend or parent to record you with a camera or your cell phone. All phones allow you to record in 1080 and most will record in 4k

I’m in Canada and I think behind the US and some countries in Europe we are next in competition. I’m in Middle School but it’s still hard man
I am in Canada as well... I agree, but I think the USA still beats us at the amateur level (but that gap is closing fast) ... For trainers in general in my city there are only 2 full time trainers, myself and someone else. Meanwhile for a city the size of mine in the states there would be 5-10 full time trainers. I am not complaining because I was the first and basically cornered the market due to my videos and following.
Hello! I live in New Brunswick Canada. I think I have a shot on getting onto the Maine Black Bears Roster in the future but I have one problem. During my last year in Middle School I didn't get alot of touches due to the fact 2 players on our team got all the touches. We lost half are games because of that and I didn't have a chance of proving myself. Now that I am entering my first year of high school the team is even more Stacked with wannabe Steph Currys and I will be most likely warming the bench for the next 2 years. Any tips on how to move up in the Coaches Rotation and get more respect from my teamates?
to move up a depth chart I would suggest the following, work on skills to improve, shooting and ball handling are up there as the most important currently. Next would be to voice your goal to your coach and ask if he has any advice on what you need to do to become a starter. (You coach sees you play everyday so he has a good view on what to improve. Plus it shows your coach that your dedicated). Ask your coach this question. "I have a goal to start for you and I would love your input as to what I need to work on to improve to become a starter." ....... Strength training is also very important If your stronger than your defender and faster than your defender than you will be able to drive to the rim and create space for you to shoot 3s a lot easier

What’s a good age to start writing to college coaches?
Hey Coach Allen! I am Senai a grade 12 student at St. Patrick Highschool here in Ottawa, ON in love with the game of basketball. I've been playing for over 10 years now and REALLY want to take my skills to the next level (competing at a college level). I train and workout every day (of course it became harder with COVID-19 restrictions) but I do my best to get better each day while maintaining a 4.0GPA. I have made a highlight tape and cover letter but just don't know the right people to send it to as well as the right connections. Personally, I'm just looking to play college basketball and compete at the next level (preferably, in Canada as tuition would be cheaper compared to in the U.S.), however, open to the U.S. but also looking for scholarships as paying full tuition will be tough. Is there any advice or anybody you know that can I can contact and share my tape with to put me a step closer to playing at the next level? What should I do? Can you help me out?
Everyone and anyone ... whoever will talk. Everyday google different schools, as your still looking for school and the school seasons are pretty much not happening you have 2 choices.
1) Look at Canadian universities or colleges or smaller D2 and 3 schools in the USA and then hope to make it up to the D1 Level through transfers... As far as tuition the Americans are expansive but so are Canadian school at times (some American schools are even cheaper than Canadian schools). But the main thing is Canada doesn't have sports scholarships, so you would still be out the cost for books, housing, etc. While an American scholarship can be a full 100% paid or a partial where you may still need to cover something (usually full rides are for the top 50-120 players per year and at this time you would already have exposure and be on the map)
2) play AAU throughout the summer if its happening (it may happen as the Americans have opened many states and they will get the vaccine 6 months before us in canada) ... then take an extra year in HS and focus on keeping grades up and working your butt off this summer for a killer 2021 season ... Ask teachers to get in contact with their past student *Marial Shayok* as he came from there and you may be able to use him as a reference or contact maker.

Not too sure, I know there are a few coaches who watch this channel who are from Australia. Hopefully one of them sees your comment. You could also try commenting on tomorrow mornings video as its for coaches... but you could also try a google search for a team in your area
I'm an international basketball player in Korea and I'm currently in my junior year. Do you think it's a great idea to send introductory emails to all of the colleges I am interested in? How long do you think it would take them to respond and what replies should I expect? I got many D2 offers through NCSA but I look forward more to major programs.
D1 doesn't usually look at international students until their senior year. However, yes I would start emailing them starting January 2nd... as of right now the last time I looked into it for someone coaches couldn't actively recruit until the new year because of COVID

Second question is?Without any proper game footage is it possible to get an offer.what if I showed them my basketball IQ or athleticism me doing windmill dunks and hitting 3s. Crazy handles .Are those enough to get recognition or even enough for them to invite me to play in a Summer League so I can actually show what I can do.
record and send it, you won't know their response until you try. When it comes to invites to camps, you would still need to pay for the camp. But at least they would have your name to watch. Yes if you can do those things record it happening in game... look up Vince carters high school highlight tape. Its basically just him putting every high school player on a poster
Canada needs its own BIG basketball League. Kinda like the CFL.

You can find the CEBL games on CBC which is pretty cool. Its only been around 2 years... I tried to get some interviews with coaches and players last year and they declined

college would need a high school diploma ... depending on university you might need certain grades... usually to play NCAA Basketball you would need above a 85%-90% + average grade

there is a chance, most recruiting is done throughout your entire high school career. Junior and seniors are scouted the most, so I would stick around for 2 years ... look to play at a big school preferably a prep school and play AAU

I would assume the same for the rest of the world... but I know there are different camps over there too like the giants of Africa, I would participate in those

You will need to play pro for a year or go to an NCAA school for at least a year. ... Try to compete at the highest levels to get onto a pro team

I try to answer most, getting 50+ comments a day now and its getting harder ... but to get to the USA from UK for a college you would be looking at playing at the highest level possible and making highlight tapes. Then contact the schools individually sharing grades, SAT scores (you will need to find a place over there to do them)

If you email them if they respond what response should you expect back. Could they offer you a scholarship then and there or is there a process before that
Its a long process to get a scholarship. They usually won't offer until they meet with you and your family... They usually interview yourself and your family. ... usually they respond with the following 1) here are pamphlets to our summer camp 2) send your whole game tape 3) send us more highlights and full games 4) send us more full games and proof of grades ... there are so many different ways they can reply with... send to as many as you can as most only have a 1% reply rate
what year in high school are u supposed to send cover letter and videos to coaches
I would start in grade 9, but thats just to show interest in their school and get on their radar, later on in grade 11 and 12 is when it gets serious... However if your an international student the coaches cant really actively recruit you until grade 12

you will be eligible as long as you havnt done anything illegal and as long as you have great grades... work hard, make tapes and contact coaches.... play on the best teams you can and play in the biggest tournaments
I was born in Spain but I recently moved to the UK so i’m bew, I’m 15 and a coach recommended me to try outs on a team but we’re on lockdown. If I make it and win the National champ. Will Usa Scouts come??
Can never know when a scout is watching .... they generally stick to NA and bigger schools will come for big tournaments in Europe, but not always ... my best recommendation is to record your games against the best schools and edit down for your offense and defense to send off to NCAA coaches
Hey man I wanted to ask something. I have quite decent grades in HS averaging about 92/100 in overall grades. Would that increase my chances of being accepted? And should I email that to the coach or the academics department. I'm actually from Asia and realistically, I am not really aiming for d1... d2 or d3 is good enough for me..
I would definitely add those grades to the academic report. Congrats on the good grades!!! I would say that would increase the chances... I would also look for a local company to you who gives SAT's when your in grade 12 (or whatever final high school year you have over there) So you can also share your SAT score as well

Keep working hard, always look to get onto the biggest team possible for your age... for video it may be hard this year but if parents or a friend can come in and record your game for you, than you'll be all set.

Don’t panic. You’re still 14 and you have lots of time before where it gets little quicker.
work on your game until next year, also work on your strength to become stronger, faster and a quicker first step.

I dont know how your grades work over in the UK, but we go by percentages as an international student you would need 90% or better in your classes to get considered for an athletic scholarship from a D1 school in the states. ... my advice, get great grades and find a club to play for. I know in Europe you can grow through a club and eventually you could get to a level that they start paying you. Maybe look into how Luca Doncic or Ricky Rubio made it... Or look into how OG Anunoby made it as he took the NCAA route
there is also a PSAT and SAT test you need to score high on as well

Hi I’m 14 and 5’7, I play supper well and is stay in Africa is there anything u would recommend for me
try and find the biggest and best teams in your area to play for. Find out how to try out for those teams and train everyday to become good enough to play for those teams. (Dont forget to do well in school) .... get highlights of you playing against the best teams and send it off to NCAA coaches with a good letter explaining who you are (do this when your 15 and 16 and older). also try and find when the big Basketball camps are in your region, the camps I would suggest are NBA Africa camps and Giants of Africa Basketball camps... try and go to every single one of those camps

Colleges are different than university here... for colleges I dont know... for university There are many... but if you were looking for Basketball, I would look at the teams who won the championship over the past 8 years

Hey so ur basically saying in any team that i am i should try to get the best out of it points/steals/good assists/ playmaking etc/blocks and then record all of that and dm alot of colleges to try to get in the team
yup, but you have to be tactile with contacting the coaches... telling them to watch the highlights will get you black listed as a spammer while giving a great cover letter explaining who you are and why you want to play for their team (including your grades and accolades) you will then be successful ... I have had numerous players locally to get conversations with schools like Syracuse , Kentucky and many others by using this approach. Its a great way to open conversations having everything ready and thought out for your plan

lots of training get better, fitness/stremgth is #1 and #2 is shooting. if you can shoot over 40% from 3 in game you have a good chance... when games start back up record and send to coaches a highlight tape with a good email explaining who you are and your grades and your aspirations... find an AAU team or a club team that plays AAU basketball in the states. The team should play for bigger tournaments so you can get noticed

there is a lot of future for athletes .... you can try and go pro, if you cant than you can train players, coach teams, create a social media and make money 18 different ways ... so much potential to do whatever your goals are. There are more ways to make money as an athlete than ever before

I think you'll have a really good chance. Get some video and edit your footage down (I can do this for you as well at www.alsbballtraining.ca) ... your able to get the coaches emails from each of the schools websites... make a great cover letter (one thats easily able to be edited between different schools) and then send it to each school. Make sure to explain that you play on the pro team and on the u18 team. That really brings in attention. I would put that in the first sentence. Lots of work to go, you have at least another 4-5 years. Look around and find players locally and internationally at your age and ask yourself if your better. If you aren’t better, you need to get better. If you are better keep getting better or else theyll take your top spot… even kids a year younger and a year old you’ll be competing against…. Here is a video of a 12 year old I coach and train. He’s the best overall 12 year old that I’ve ever seen, in this video he’s playing against players who are 13 and 14. David stays 1-1.5 hours after every practice to work on his shot, he works on his game 6 days a week for a minimum 4 hours …. Lots of training until the season starts back up ... same is going on here in Canada, many really good players from here have gone down to the states to play as they have opened up down there. Our prep schools are also back up and running here in Ontario ..... My suggestion is continue training and working out. Get stronger than everyone and be a beast..... Look into OG Anunoby and see how he made it from the UK and try and emulate what he was able to do

Update I am currently 6'4 playing point guard/shooting guard and 16 years old senior have a bit of film not high quality though as a lot of the times other parents complain about me recording my games

There are are a lot of teams you could send video footage to in Europe if your parents dont want you to go to the American universities... As far as finding people to record you could ask friends or your parents

you will need University or other pro experience, or 1 year out of high school if your an international player

depends... for NCAA there are full and partial scholarships, full is free school and partial is they might cover housing, or books, or a few things but not all... for Canada most schools will cover tuition costs but nothing else (or at least thats what colleges did 10 years ago up here lol)

If the school is a private or prep school yes… usually they are for students with exceptional abilities in sport or grades. But not all schools have them

usually prep schools will if there is financial problems and if your grades and skills are good enough, but you would have to make a prep school team first

find the teams through google, go to roster, go down to coaches and on 99% of teams it will also show the coaches email
many professional league scouting systems are really messed up unless you play for a team that already has lots of attention you could average 100 points 50 assists and 40 rebounds and nobody would know
not many pro teams scout the high school level ... its rare to go high school to pro. Easier to go to college then pro.... However by me saying this dont stop working hard. Keep working hard and aim to attain your goals and have a back up plan

find a travel team for rep and AAU... CIA is the top in the toronto area but if its your first team I would try a Double A team to get used to in game stuff like plays and strategies... Your 12 you have lots of time. But dont think lots of time means you can delay working out or training... work everyday to become a better player

12th grade would be when they would recruit you... you could try an extra year in grade 12 and contact coaches in the USA

pretty hard after high school ... maybe a walk on as a college player or open tryouts with G-League teams (those cost money to tryout)

think of it as a job if you dont have experience they won't hire you, in this case pick you. ... However almost every team has tryouts, you could go to an American university and try out

once I am less sick I will make a video on how for players in your circumstance ... However in short make an instagram, TikTok, and TH-cam. post all your game footage and some training footage on those platforms. put full game tape and highlights in a traditional horizontal video on TH-cam so you can share it with coaches........ then most important you need to find what the highest level of basketball is in your country and play at that level... for example where I am at, Ontario Canada a player would need to play in a real prep school that plays in OSBA/NPA and also plays in the top leagues in the USA
I am a basketball player who lives in a country where basketball isnt a big sport at all and there is very little exposure to basketball. I dont think anyone has been drafted from the UK. How would it be possible to get a scholarship from the UK if it has very low competition here and scouts probably never look into it?
