@@Boss-ir3nm If you can't take constructive criticism then you are a slave to your desires. A good example is, before I embraced Islam, I was a hardcore gambler, blew bags on gambling, my life was deteriorating till I met up with an old friend of mine who sat me down and lectured me hours mate, I stopped gambling, turned my life around, and on a trip to Morocco, I got curious about the meaning of life, that curiosity leading to do research and stuff, resulting to a full turn around. I agree with you at some point, it hurt to be criticized, but being able to see things from different perspective usually leads to change in behaviour.

Biologically and psychologically we need someone to be brutally honest with us. Just to be blunt with it. This is something my girlfriend didn't have so when someone does that she feels attacked and that's how her countenance is for the whole day. It got to the point where if someone said something that she didn't agree with she becomes confrontational.

Doesn't help that much, I knew a jacked 5'3" guy who could have probably have kicked my taller ass, but girls actively put him down despite him having all the traits a woman could want other than height and an exceptional face. Unfortunately that made him insecure especially around taller guys and he just didn't have a chance even with girls shorter than him.

    • @aeonise
      @aeonise 3 ปีที่แล้ว +127

Coming from the USMC, you see way more monsters among the short guys than the tall ones. Some of that's just physiology (short limbs = less stress on joints and stuff = easier to get jacked without breaking yourself), but I'd say better than two-thirds of it is just a difference of attitude and motivation.

When I was a teen and was being a brat, after a punishment, my dad said:
"I'm tough on you because the world is hard on us men. I am pointing out your mistakes so you can learn from them, so you can grow. Because as a man you don't have as much time as you think. The world doesn't point out your mistakes and gives you a chance to learn and grow. Out there, there are no second chances. Everything the world values in a man takes time, discipline, and commitment to achieve. When you leave my house to take on the world I don't expect you to be a fully grown man but I expect you to be able to admit your mistakes and learn from them".
With hindsight, I really appreciate that I had two parents. Both my parents were amazing but for a boy having a father guide you is priceless. I didn't appreciate it then, like most teens, but my father's lessons were all true. Kevin is much like a father figure. He delivers hard lessons, and hard truths and he expects you to take action. Complaining is easy. Everyone knows how to complain. But to do something, to take responsibility for your own failure, that is what separates the men from the boys.

I'm SERIOUSLY glad that you guys posted this! I'm a therapist and a couple of my male friends have bombarded me with Kevin's videos to substantiate their experiences. A few I've had to explain that they don't fit into the category of men Kevin is referring to and that some of their own traits (mentioned in this video!) are what's keeping them out of the real running. I don't usually disagree with what Kevin says, but I have felt that some people (women in the past) wouldn't hear any of the takeaways because it would get lost in the delivery. It's great to know that he's an equal opportunity offender! LOL j/k, but this definitely provides a bigger picture to his approach. I WILL be sending this link to the gents that need to hear some of this, too.
Also, he is 1,000% RIGHT about taking up martial arts or boxing! Activities where you can make MEASURABLE PROGRESS will prove your COMPETENCE to learn and grow and increase CONFIDENCE! I grew up as a competitive and then professional dancer with a high GPA throughout so that was established for me, but there are still times when I have to find a challenge to exercise, expand, and continue to develop my competence now. If you didn't get affirmations from the people in your life as a child, then SURROUND YOURSELF with positive, reinforcing role models/coaches/mentors/SENSEIs now! YOU and the man/woman you want in your life will thank you for it!

I've heard it said, "your mother keeps you alive and your father prepares you for life". So many of us are growing up without a strong father that will give objective guidance like this. Everyone, especially young men, needs someone in their formative years who speak the harsh truth like KS does. It is a cold world; you can put on a sweater or you can freeze to death.

    • @HP3TV

Well said. My father used to say that nurturing is useless on a boy after the age of seven. I agree, now that I am old enough to have seen numerous women raise a boy of their own. An infant needs nurturing because it cannot survive on its own. Continuing to nurture a boy teaches them to be reliant on others. Many women view "man training" as cruel because they are more concerned about their son's feelings, than his functionality. They find themselves stuck in mothering their sons well into adulthood because they finally realize how much they have stagnated his personal development, and feel responsible for his shortcomings. I'm not saying that mothers are the villains. They are only doing what is in their nature. What I am saying is without the counterbalance of a male presence in their household, the mother's nature of nurturing creates an imbalance in the boy's development.

Im 17 and female. when he said to a 20 jaar old; why does your opinion matter? I got knocked the fuck out by that question. I literaly had to remind myself i don't know anything because i didn't experience it yet. It was very blunt, but i need to hear him say it like that so there is no beating around the bush. Im scared that i don't know enough. I just need to alow myself to make more mistakes so i can learn from it.

I would also suggest, that you really go into reading and informing yourself about how life works.
1 year ago, i literally squandared through life and had no real idea about me or how things are. Just because i met a Girl, that was close to my Ideal and it didnt work out, i started to think. I went from asking myself what i did wrong and if im not good enough to understanding how some things work, what mistakes i did and really think that i found a path in my life that i can go.

respect to him for this, he reminds me of my dad. I remember whenever I would achieve something my mother would sing endless praises for me, but my father wouldn't say anything. He'd just ask me "what are you gonna do next". On the other hand, whenever I would fail in life my mother would scream and yell at me, but my father, with the same blank expression and tone of voice, would ask me "what are you going to do next". This kind of stoicism and blunt honesty is what creates real winners, it hurts at first but in the end youll be glad

I worked in construction for a couple of years. One thing I appreciated was the fact my boss treated me no different from any of the guys on the team. I knew he wasn’t being malicious when he yelled at us. At the same time he knew some of my limitations, but he pushed me to do better in the things I could do. I still remember and hold that close to me years later. He helped me to realize I can push myself to the limit to get stuff done.

As hard as advice like this is to hear, a good balance of kindness and honesty is how to get through to people. Maybe this is a bit too far into the honesty side, but it sure is better than being overly kind :)

I think what we have to understand is in a week maybe he has 40+ calls. If he tries to sugar coat it takes longer or people start arguing ("I wouldn't say I'm fat but maybe I could work out a little more), but this blunt method cuts through the shit quicker so he moves onto the next caller

I think it’s all in the delivery. Because two people can both tell the truth, the honest truth with no sugarcoating, but it’s all in the tone and delivery. You don’t have to placate someone’s ego but if you come at them with kindness then they might take it easier. They still may not like it but it wasn’t sucker punched at them. Just my thoughts.
