Love doo wop music. It was easy listening and usually happy music. People like me ( with no talent as a singer) could sing along and sound good. Loved it. Thanks for the great reaction. 👏👏😊

Finally, a reaction show gets it right! On other shows, this song is being played with the error that the artists are the Coasters. Thanks for getting it right, Harri.

Absolutely a beautiful choice from an exceptional era of music. The orchestral backing escalates the performance to amazing. Flawless vocals with the doo wop sound, diamonds to my ears.💎💎
Great reaction Harri. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

You could play this in a cave 50 years from now, after these morons blowup the world and it would still rock .love the scat.😂.

Nearly 70 years old & the song is still perfection. A group called the Crew -Cuts, from Canada, also recorded the song the same year. Both were huge hits.

In the 50s &60s it was common for white folks to capitalize on black folks music. It became known "white washed" music. 😂😂😂

Absolutely FANTASTIC! I love this song, and have for over 60 years. I can see that you love the Doo Wop sounds too. Looking forward to hearing you give a listen to "The Crests" and some of their late 50s songs.

Pssst!Just so you know brother Harri PBS has a ton of videos of live modern day concert footage of all these groups performing to packed audiences...I didn't find much of these videos in their online catalogue, but during the weekends they show tons of videos of live concerts with all the old 50's groups and during the intermissions they push all kinds of DVD'S and CD'S that come with a paid memberships at different levels and price points...

Hi Harri! Suggestion another great version of this song. The British Doo-Wop revivalists,
Darts recorded "Sh-Boom in the late 1970´s, this time at a slower tempo. It was released
at the B-side of the band´s last charting single, reaching No.48 in the United Kingdom charts
in 1980. Thanks Harri, for a good reaction video by the Chords. 👍

Harri, how cool to see your reaction to this classic! I actually wrote to you about the Chords version of this song when you played the Crews version. But it was The Chords who wrote the song. Back in the day the Black artists creations pushed the music forward into newer realms, but cover versions by White artists were the ones that soared to the top of the charts, again and again. So the cover version by The Crewcuts got all the industry push, and captured widespread acclaim instead of the original. But really, the cover couldn't hold a candle to the original. Now here's some more - here's one of the writers, one of the Chords, explaining the creation of the song, pinpointing each element, element by element - and it's brilliant th-cam.com/video/3dUK9j5X7Zw/w-d-xo.html. And finally, here's a contemporary group, Street Corner Renaissance, doing an acappella version of Sh'Boom - absolutely stunning, out of this world! th-cam.com/video/n-miJQUD9l4/w-d-xo.html Thank you Harri!

@@HarriBestReactions ❤ Yeah, it's a mindblower, the explanation of the creative genius at work as these musicians crafted a classic. The revelation about "Bip" is hysterically funny, and at the same time poignant and sad. Amazing. Like Joni Mitchell recently said of herself and her friend and fellow musical wizard, Wayne Shorter, who like Joni aslo painted as well as played brilliantly, the Chords used instrumental and vocal sounds to paint pictures that stay with the listener ever after...And the members of Street Corner Renaissance, those are some amazing musicians!!!

Most of the doo wop groups that had the hits were the original black groups, from what I remember. A few, like the Del-Vikings were mixed race, with maybe one white guy. But most were all black. Many of them, like the Penguins, Flamingos, Drifters, Five Satins, Silhouettes, Cadillacs, Gene Chandler, Contours, Marcels (mixed), Ink Spots, Shirelles, Platters...

Have you reacted to any pre-doo-wop groups as the Ravens from the late 40s? The Ravens are terribly underrated and neglected because they weren't truly doo-wop but they lent a huge impetus to doo-wop. And if you like bass singers, listen to the Ravens! I'll suggest one song--"Ol' Man River"--of which they recorded a couple of versions, maybe more. Pick one. They're all great. Maybe others will suggest more Ravens songs.

The Chords talk about how they came up with the title and sing some parts of the song. This was really a longer version of what the Chords had to say.
