    This man is speaking the bitter truth. Leave alone those politicians like Arap Mashamba who speak big and sweet words to deceive Kenyans...and all this is happening because of these imprudent, and populist politicians. I am a senior economist and I can bet with you all that tough times are coming indeed. These are called lagged responses, the outcomes of the actions taken five years back start reflecting today. And there is nothing we can do to change that as we cannot travel back through time to clean the mess.

    This is a very impartial opinion from Ndii. We are running very costly national and county governments. We should have a referendum. Our parliament has been very irresponsible. Corruption needs to be dealt with brutally. Why didn't parliament push for the VATing of petroleum products when global oil prices had plummeted? Kenyans would have barely felt the pinch.

    • @fdplug
      @fdplug 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for joining us now you see the reason we were against jubilee

    • @davidmaina5998
      @davidmaina5998 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't subscribe to Jubilee/Nasa blame game. Parliament failing to make wise decisions is the key issue here. They should have forced the VAT on us when global crude prices had plummeted to the $30's range...we would've barely felt the pinch (imho). The current constitution is what gave us bloated governments...ongezea countrywide costly ambitious projects (economically crucial nevertheless) going on at the same time. Last but not least, unchecked corruption.
      You can see we are all to blame at the end of the day. You voted for your mp, i'll assume you voted for the constitution (assuming you were eligible at the time)
      We are trying to have our cake and eat it. Won't work!

    Mr. Ndii is smart, but only in a skeptical way. He spent all that time articulating the problems and then he said the solutions will "take time", because he has no idea of them. Today is NOT 1998, we are in more of a democratic state than we were years ago, we are more able to see and discern our own problems and solutions, we have politicians trying to work together for the first time, e.tc. The problem of the economy may be the same, but we have new circumstances to adopt to that will give us power. People are more likely to listen to what you have to say or produce than they were 10 years back. Since 1998 we have produced an American President, our first female Boeing 777 pilot. We are smarter now and will overcome from every country.

      Kenn Any job is desired by people once you accord it it's respect. In Africa and I guess other parts of the world, we are proud of pilots. We pay them well and their family and neighbors treat them like a rock star. Again, our differences lie in culture, location, etc. Just because Americans don't value each other doesn't mean we have to be that way too. Women flying 777s is a great thing. Ask Arab women who can't drive by law. Women voting and working is a great thing, ask American women. Black people being free is a great thing, ask me. White people being able to venture the world without being perceived wrongly as a racist is a great thing, probably ask...you?

    The best solution is to slow down public spending. This is not new and the Treasury CS just needs to move quickly in this direction. One approach is to cut down county spending which has grown recklessly. The economic hole we have found ourselves in could have been avoided had we not expanded size of gov by all the 47 mini govs that have no revenues and have to depend on the national Treasury's tax inflow that KRA has totally failed in reaching the target. What can we now do as a country? Political options are to freeze public spending, chop off size of county governments, down size public wage bill, get out of unfunded mandates like KDF in Somalia. The executive too has to stay put & focus on productivity in agriculture, tourism, educ, service sectors. Slowing of capital projects and restructure long term debt will go along way to debt service short term relief. These are the consequences of our devolution model and exess representation at national, senate & mca levels. We need to rethink this model. Finally, our politics can not escape the blame. The two elections in 2017 was a very sad idea and it shows how insensitive we have become to Kenya's state of the economy. The judiciary ought to have had this thought b4 subjecting us a 2nd presidential election in just 60 days which is bad constitutional law. At this rate, Kenyans must come to their realization that our economy is too small and fragile to run the model of governance structure the supreme law envisaged. We must revisit it to survive by being realistic. Activist model of constitution was good in theory but impractical in our case.
