It's a bit complicated, but TLDR is, Unmend pull pushes your GCD back just far enough that it will cause the Soul Eater at 00:37 to "ghost". Ghosting is when your GCD goes off, you acquire resources like blood or mana, but the damage of the GCD is not applied to the boss as they become untargetable. Soul Eater does significantly more damage then Unmend so face-pulling or gap closing in will guarantee that your Soul Eater does not ghost. The same can happen for oGCDs as well if you use them right before a boss jumps away so you want to be careful with that. You can know for sure that an ability "ghosted" if no damage number pops up.
All I do is right click the player's health bar and click focus target which should make an arrow appear above their head and remain for the duration of the instance unless they disconnect. If you don't see the Focus Target Bar like I have in the top right you want to make sure it's set to visible in you HUD layout.
PF definitely has it's downsides but I progged 5/6 Ultimates in PF, usually faster than friends' statics because you don't have to deal with all the scheduling. Highly recommend giving it a shot after studying some guides.
That's fair, depending on how busy the current patch is you can end up waiting way more time than it's worth just to fill a party. From what I've seen on NA recently, UWU and TEA are still pretty populated. Savage prog is definitely more rare but still find the occasional prog party. FRU and chaotic alliance raid are the ones you can hop into at any time of the day.
Make sure you’re on the Aether data center when trying to PF. Way more people there and also many raiders transfer over to Aether to fill parties (kind of a self fulfilling prophecy)

Been playing for 5 years and I've been trying to get in to raiding/savage content and I've yet to be able to find people for it
