U watched both of these videos and it was remarkable to see this ancient dead tree come down! I wonder how long it grew and how long ago it died? It is always a pleasure to see a professional crew do a professional job! Much respect and peace to them all!
Local people said it was more than 80 years old, and struck by lightning , half of tree were dead, and the rest dead slownly after 3 years latter, 1 of the branch broke and hit the building under the tree, and the villgace decided to cut this tree
The skills, strength, endurance, and courage of real men not seen in the western world very often, doing a job I have also done in several countries. continuing to work even with injuries to his hand, is what makes him a real man, this I know from not only my experience personally, but, also with a few of the real men I have worked with, that I sutured their hand, on the job site in Zambia, so thy could continue to work too. What they haven't shown is all the work/ skill to maintain the saws, and rigging equipment so they can perform as well as thy do, nor the massive amount of work to clean up, transport and turn the logs into lumber, and to repair all the buildings. This was in fact a massive endeavor, that I can only assume was finally agreed to be done by the community after some severe injury or damage was caused by a falling branch. These men are worthy of the applause of the world.

There weren’t cameras around when western men were doing the same or harder activities. They were also busy creating all the things that made life easier and not so dangerous.
Very impressive! You handle two of the biggest, heaviest, most powerful saws on the planet, like a beast!!! Very cool dead rot, climb and cut.

BTW di kampungku dulu ada pohon randu alas, juga beringin yg dikeramatkan sama orang di sekelilingnya. Dikasih sesajen segala macam. Orang gak boleh macam2 sama itu pohon. Giliran tua, mati, kering, lapuk, meranggas, mereka juga yg merengek2 minta pohon ditebang. Pas ditebang gak kenapa2 tuch, gak ada keramat2nya sama sekali.

Mad respect to the entire crew, but especially the gentleman risking his life sawing at the base. It could have shattered and killed him.
It would be very interesting to follow the progress of that tree to the sawmills.
We are focused on fell a tree, we are too busy, may be sometimes 🙏
It was too rotten in most parts to be useful for sawing up, that’s why they cut it down, did you see how it shattered as branches were cut and bumped against the trunk on the way down? The guys cut it up on site anyway.
Most of that tree was too rotten to be any good for use as milled timber.
This tree has been dead for some time that's why the tree fellers were removing it because it had become dangerous to the villagers living underneath it.
rings were really big, so the faster it grows the less it's usually worth, but would love to have a base crosscut with those spokes still attached..quite a huge wall hanging
You guys work very hard felling those trees, whether live ones or rotted and endangering the people but I'll tell you there is one old man watching your videos that is thoroughly amazed at how you do it. Like felling or taking apart a jigsaw puzzle so no injury or damage.

Really great work but I can’t stop dreaming about what could be built with all that beautiful wood, such large slabs and lengths.
This wood is a low quality, but in the right hand, will become fantactic furniture, like a solid table length 6 meter and wide 140cm

Amazing skill levels shown by these guys! I seem to remember reading that the base of trees like these are very wide because if the quality of the soil is poor or not in great depth the roots spread out rather than go down deep so they’re effectively keeping themselves upright by balancing rather than rooting deep down into the earth which European trees will usually be able to do.
I also remember reading that during the 2nd World War quite a few troops from both sides, allied and axis, were killed or injured in the Burma campaign by falling trees, not difficult to imagine looking at this monster!

Those men knew what they were doing. As big as that tree was, there were many ways it could have killed someone.
