Not only to preserve the ways of his (and your forebears), but to those generations of struggle ahead where your children and their children's children could learn to sustain themselves and their families living like this.
This is something i am trying to focus on. I am learning the craft of forging and woodworks, i try to take care of our farm and nature, i learn more and more from my father, my grandfathers, mother and grandmothers, they are all so full of skills and much to bring with in the future. I try but its not allways easy. I am deeply addicted by screens but i try, i work to get away from screens which is the biggest addiction of our generation.

Going and buying what you want from the supermarket is simple, which is why this sort of video will get a thousand people praising this way of life and it's lost idyllic romanticism who will then immediately return to their modern, bustling lives without incorporating a thing. This old grandfather is a champion and an inspiration, but it's a hard life, and people living in the past never shape the future.
I would love to be able to afford a plot of land i can live like this. Im glad my grandfather left me with the skills and knowledge how to care for and live off the land

That’s the same way we used to plow up taters when I was a boy but we was barefoot 🦶🏽. We even stored them in our corn crib just like that. Nothing like the smell and feel of fresh plowed dirt.

Why i say don't be fooled is because i am a banker, & these are the type of folks that come into the bank looking all raggy & depositing some ridiculous sums of $$. I watched an 80 year old blacksmith pound out a car spring to make me a splitting froe. I asked him how he could sustain that constant pounding on the anvil. He said - work at the beat of your heart. Years later I watched an Indian man pounding out ash basket splints. I asked him the same question. HIs answer - pound to the beat of your heart. Hmm - seems like there is some wisdom there.

This reminds me of my grandpa. He would be out there on his hands and knees picking turnips. And every chance I got I went out there to see him, and help him with the horse, cattle, and help him pick pees. May he Rest In Peace. We love u old man.

The soft expression of the chestnut horse - is he a Belgian? Then working the potato patch WITH NO REINS. I did over 30yrs of professional horse training and could never hope to achieve this. Grandfather is great and these videos make me cry for the life I yearn to live. Thank you

In New Zealand, my ancestors did this except they did it with big families and taught the children too. This is amazing but seems very lonely. looks like enough land and gardens to serve quite a large extended family and so i wonder how much goes to waste. RIP mousey.
