    The dogs and I spent another week near the Grand Tetons and I experienced my first fall in five years NOT in New England. It was a bit of a grieving experience to not see the bright colors of Vermont and New Hampshire, but I did my best to embrace the golden aspen trees that surrounded my campsite.

    Your talented eye for capturing so many beautiful pictures and shots of the fantastic landscapes around you is amazing. Its a talent that I wish I had.
    This is probably the main reason I cant keep out of your videos. Also, your narrative of how and why you prefer the solitude of living your life as you do, and the way you master it, is akin to mine. Many don't understand me but i'm happy this way. Happiness and self fulfillment is what life is about... only then will you be capable of successfully succeeding in society.
    My adversion has to be Eggplant, I cringe at the thought of that strange and revolting texture in my mouth. I know it's not a vegetable (or is it?) but I generally eat all Vegetables when porepared well.... that means to my liking.
    Certainly my favorite Veg was my late Mum's baked Cauliflower in that scrumtious white sauce, and oven baked with grated cheese scattered all over. Take care, greets from Steve in Switzerland.

    • @ianfurqueron5850
      @ianfurqueron5850 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@girland2vandogs I think eggplant is heavily dependent on how it's prepared. I've usually had it fried and/or breaded in something like eggplant parmesan. It's pretty good in those scenarios.
      My parents were somewhat adventurous in the kitchen while I was growing up - and I'm from the "you WILL eat what's put in front of you" generation, so I was exposed to quite a variety of food, whether I wanted it or not.

    I grew up in New Hampshire and lived half my life there and then moved to go back to college at 40. I have grown to dislike the state I moved to. I miss NH so much. Thank you for cheering for New England! I'm a native Vermonter, and you're right. I think we have a reputation for being unfriendly, so I'm really happy to hear not everyone thinks so. 😁 I spent 2 falls in AZ, and I definitely missed the foliage. So glad the Grand Tetons are able to offer you an equal level of beauty! I love the idea of singles s'mores kits. 😄 I absolutely will not eat beef stew. I was about 7 when we were having it for dinner and there was a piece of grizzle in my stew. My mom tried her best to coax me into finishing my stew, but I just sat there until it got cold, and have never developed a taste for it. It's also the reason I only like raw carrots. 😊

    The Tetons must make for an epic backyard! Don't think that could ever get old. And when I think of food I no longer touch, it's usually the stuff I subsisted on during college: chef boyardee ravioli, hot pockets (amazing how one thing could be molten hot and frozen at the same time), for example.
    Really cool how you shot that time-lapse sunset!
    For single-serve smores, I'd suggest mallomars--not quite smores but smore-adjacent.

    In reference to foods I liked growing up but now don't like I have a couple to list lol. So growing up I was a big huge fan of ketchup like on everything. Yes I know that is a condiment but it still counts. I used to put it on everything. I'm thinking around the age of 19 I just couldn't stand ketchup anymore. I still use it on certain things but I'm no where near like I was before. Another one is tomato's, I used to eat them just plain. Now I don't eat them at all. I guess we just tend to grow away from certain things if we ate too much of it growing up. Anyways, loved your video as always and can't wait to see your next one. Safe travels out there.

    I'll be back in New Hampshire in a little over a week for work. I'm not sure if it'll be peak season, but should be close. Leaves were starting to get vibrant as I was driving from SE PA to NW AR (and through KY). Having spent a good portion of the last 7 years in NH for work, I would generally agree New Englanders are no more or less friendly than any other Americans, but living there as an outsider of sorts can be... challenging.
    My childhood trauma food used to be cooked carrots. I got sick after eating a stew and for some reason my 6 year old brain associated that illness with the carrots in the stew. It was at least 30 years before I finally got over it. Now I'm more like your brother - I'll each pretty much anything.

    As a child I did NOT like different foods touching … I think that is fairly common. I’ve grown out if and don’t have any strong dislikes at all. I make soup year round and last week saw a Marcelle Hazan recipe that starts with cooking garlic in olive oil (med heat just until it gets fragrant) then everything else. End of last week I had a bug that sounds a lot like what you had and I made my soup that way with a good amount of garlic. I don’t know if it helped but it sure tasted good and seemed to clear my sinuses … at least temporarily.

    Chung King Chop Suey was my food trauma as a child. So much so that I thought it was representative of all Asian food, and so I refused to eat any Asian food for decades of my life. Imagine my surprise to find out how wonderful Asian food actually is! It's now one of my favorite cuisines. Yet still with Chung King Chop Suey as the lone exception. I've moved away from northern New England now, and frankly, the colors have been fickle everywhere. Either late or muted, or a healthy dose of both. Now in northern PA, I've got some yellows, but not much red. I might have to try New England again next fall to see if I can hit it just right. I'm worried this fall we might just plunge into the cold of winter with lots of trees just dropping green or brown leaves. There is still amazing beauty here, so I actually do feel fulfilled anyway.
