Couching for Basic Hand Embroidery

Couching is perfect for outlining shapes, straight and curved lines, spirals, decorative accents and borders.
The laid thread (or foundation thread) can be bolder and bigger, you can even combine several threads for the foundation.
Most people use a thinner thread for couching. Blend with a similar color or use contrasting colors for more expression.
