  • In this video, we will take you inside an #aluminumfactory and give you a detailed overview of the #anodizing process for aluminum. By the end of the video, you'll have a clear understanding of how aluminum is treated to produce a wide range of colors and finishes.
Anodizing is an electrochemical process that creates a durable and corrosion-resistant oxide layer on the surface of #aluminium .This process is commonly used in the manufacturing of architectural, automotive, and aerospace components, as well as consumer goods like cookware and electronics.
Our journey begins at the aluminum factory, where raw aluminum is melted down and cast into various shapes and sizes. Once the aluminum is cast, it's transported to the anodizing plant where the anodizing process begins.

The first step in the anodizing process is to clean the aluminum surface to remove any dirt, oil, or other contaminants. This is typically done using a combination of chemical and mechanical cleaning methods.
Next, the aluminum is subjected to an etching process, which removes a very thin layer of the surface. This step is important because it creates a rough surface that allows the anodizing solution to penetrate and bond with the aluminum.

After the etching process, the aluminum is immersed in a bath of #sulfuricacid , which is the main component of the anodizing solution. An electrical current is passed through the #acidbath , causing a reaction that creates a layer of aluminum oxide on the surface of the aluminum. The thickness of the oxide layer is controlled by adjusting the voltage and duration of the process.
Once the anodizing process is complete, the aluminum is rinsed again to remove any excess acid or other contaminants. The final step is to seal the anodized surface to improve its durability and corrosion resistance.
The anodizing process can produce a wide range of colors and finishes, depending on the type of aluminum alloy and the anodizing process used. For example, clear anodizing produces a natural silver color, while black anodizing produces a dark, matte finish. Other colors, such as red, blue, and gold, can be achieved by using dyes or pigments in the anodizing solution.
In addition to its aesthetic benefits, anodizing also improves the mechanical properties of aluminum. The aluminum oxide layer is much harder and more abrasion-resistant than the underlying aluminum, which makes anodized components more durable and less prone to wear.
Overall, the anodizing process is a fascinating and versatile technique for treating aluminum. Whether you're manufacturing aerospace components or consumer electronics, anodizing can help you produce high-quality, durable products that look great and perform well. We hope this overview has given you a better understanding of how anodizing works and why it's such an important process in modern manufacturing.

May I ask what solvent did you guys use in the first process of cleaning dirt and grease, before putting the profiles into the soda bath?

I don't know about the video but where I work, for degreasing tank we use Sulphuric Acid, Phosphuric Acid & Hydrofluric Acid. 3.5 to 4 grams (all together) per liter.
