- More details on the seven spotting locations at Sydney International Airport.
Location 1: P3 Car Park Domestic Terminals: The easiest way of access is to get on a train and get off at Domestic Airport station. Then follow the sign into T3 Terminal, exit the terminal at arrival level and turn left. Continue walking for approx. 150 m, cross the road, and continue walking in the same direction for approx. 200m. You will go through the ground level of a parking building and then reach P3. Take a lift to the top level. If you want to save money (as surcharge is incurred for passing through train stations at airport), get off the train at Mascot Train Station (one station before airport), and ride a bus to domestic terminal. The bus stop to airport is only 150 m away. This could save you approx. A$14. Also note that there is free shuttle bus between International T1 and Domestic T2/T3.
Location 2: P6 Car Park Int'l Terminal. This location was banned for photography recently. Hopefully the authority will re-open it soon. Easiest access is again by train. If you get off at Mascot and catch a bus to International, it could save you approx. A$14. Also note that there is free shuttle bus between International T1 and Domestic T2/T3.
Location 3: "the Beach" old Control Tower: Most suitable for afternoon in terms of sunlight direction. Best accessed by car. Plenty of free parking. Bus is available around 300m away, but service is very infrequent. A uber from Mascot Train Station usually costs less than A$20.
Location 4: New Link Road Roundabout: This area is still under construction, and no parking or public transportation access at the moment. A uber from Mascot Train Station usually costs approx. A$20.
Location 5: New Pedestrian Bridge near Nigel Love Bridge: No car or public transportation access at the moment. It is a 20 min walk from International Terminal. Alternatively, you could walk from Executive Gourmet (300 Coward Street, Mascot) into the riverside path, and destination is approx. 1.5 km away.
Location 6: Mill Stream Lookout: This location offers plenty of free parking. Spotting area is a one-minute walk from the parking lot.
Location 7: Shep's Mound: This dedicated spotting venue is right next to the new Control Tower, and . It is best accessed by car, and free parking is available. Taking a Uber from Mascot Train Station is another choice (cost approx. A$13).
When I saw the title, I immediately wondered how it would be possible to spot 500 airplanes in 6 hours at Sydney. There are two parallel runways so the maximum number of landings you could have without violating flight rules is 360, and that would only under ideal conditions with the airport operating at max capacity. Then I realized: 6 hours is the length of the video, not the time spent plane-spotting! Silly me!

Nice!
Great videos, Unfortunately you can’t plane spot from P3 or P6 ATM due to some idiots throwing things off the P6 carpark, hopefully Sydney Airport will let us all plane spot again soon.
Thanks mate for watching. I agree with you that us law-abiding spotters should not be punished for the mistake by a few idiots. Fingers crossed.
Is Sydney was a busies Airport in the world ?
Its looked nice and beautiful
Yes, Sydney Airport is the busiest airport in Australia. In my view, Sydney is the most spotter-friendly airport in the world.
9:41 is that 777 going to London all the way from Sydney or will it stop in Singapore and another question is the carpark because I used to go there all the time but I know they have closed it but does any one know why
Via Singapore of course. The reason for closure is that a few guys behaved horribly over there a couple of weeks ago.
@@DrBearAviation I hope they reopen it soon it would be a shame if one of the best spotting locations in the world gets closed because the f a few people doing the wrong thing
@@Owens_aviation12 I totally agree with you that it is unfair for us law-abiding spotters to be punished for the mistake by a few idiots. Fingers crossed.
✌️💪
6 hours??
How many hours did you spend editing?
A lot. I just did a little bit each day and, in the end, I did not even realize that I have accumulated 6-hour worth of video. 😄
