@Uxma Jed you're totally right, over the centuries Klaus had falling outs with his siblings more than once though, Elijah was always loyal to him and Rebbeca, she loved him a lot despite all the heartbreaks she suffered cause of him, seemed to treat her like a princess and spoiled her. Klaus has never wanted to be alone so he would prefer Stefan for his loyalty, but if he wanted a friend who would "party" with him, Damon was the obvious choice for many reasons.
Its because Stephan as the ripper taught certain things to klaus that made killing that much better and as an original he hadn't seen such brutality from anyone especially his own underling. Its a sort of awe factor for niklaus with the sense where someone who has only lived 1/10 of his life could still teach him so much.

One thing i absolutely love about Damon is his attitude. no matter who is standing next to him,how strong they are he never gets scared like never he faces them head on like bring it on bitches i'm the king of the jungle.
My favorite thing about them is Damon has every reason to fear Klaus since Klaus could very easily kill him on a whim and yet still is defiant enough to give him so much sass all the time.

Honestly tho personality wise, Stefan is Elijah minus 900/800 years..and Damon is nik minus 800/900 years...those pairs are soo much alike. Stefan/Elijah-Always trying to keep the wild brother out of trouble, always calm but still just as threatening as the other, always brooding most of the time, always the peace negotiator(well not when Stefan is in his ripaaaaahhhh-ing moments). Nik/Damon- always impulsive, threatens first, doesn’t mind killing people to get what they want while they’re switch is on, secretly admires and loves their respective brothers but pretends to not like them. And also they do the smirky a lot (sexy smirk).
