I think that he was finally able to ascend...after making sure all the children were safe and at the same time atoning for his past sins he was finally set free. The original was released in 2001 then the piano version in 2012 so it follows the story from Till in the orphanage to protecting the kids and the emotions he shows is mainly anger followed by sadness then in the piano version his emotions are kinda bitter sweet? So now that he's done, he is finally set free. This is of course my interpretation 🙂❤️

I also read that Till took singing lessons from an opera singer..not sure when or if this was done to prepare his voice for this song or if it was done way before in general but his voice is so beautiful and strong and operatic sounding 😍💖
