No way. I pay maybe 100 dollars a month for a bus pass to get to and from work. I gave up my car to add more money to my retirement accounts

Thanks for sharing this video, I think its time everyone should learn to live below their means, Adjust their lifestyle. I quit my job as an RN last two years ago after almost 16 years in the field. It was not an easy decision, but life is too short to dread going to work everyday. No amount of money can buy real happiness, but friends I'm not asking you to resign from your job or abandon your business but be wise! Glad I've never been broke on and off the career.

Thanks for sharing your story. I don't really like my job but I love what it provides for me and my family. This pandemic has people rethinking working.

right now I run my own business and While I was still in service I planned towards early retirement, making about 2k weekly from my retirement investment portfolio trying so much to build more side hustles and extra income

A lot of nurses are addicted to the online clout. Risking a license for a following and to be influencers. Not worth it

This has been happening to a lot of black nurses specifically, there is an RN husband and wife I know who are both driving top-of-the-line vehicles and living in a run-down apartment building and another one has a house and a high-end car but cannot pay their heating or light bill.

Great video. Not having a car payment helped me pay off my student loans from my first Bachelor’s. Not having a car payment is now helping me to save for nursing school tuition.

I am so glad I found this video. I have this friend that bought a new construction costing $500,000 with her husband. She drives a luxury car and have a car note every month. She have children and grandchildren maybe. But she is now in LPN school. I notice that my classmates and I are saving and even trimming down expenses while in nursing school. LPN is secondary for me because I already have a degree. My friend with the $500k home is consistently in people business and always telling other people (single & married men) in particularly that she don't have the money for nothing. She also claims that she does not have any money for nursing school and can barley offered her books and other supplies. I did not know that she made a big purchase other than her car. I was raised to handle business, which is finish school, save the money, then buy whatever you want. I feel bad for her husband and side pieces because they are stuck in a debt before enjoying the benefit of her getting paid as a nurse. I distanced myself because I expect for the people I talk to, to make smart decision with their money! I would never ask her for some advice because her behavior reflects a 10th grader and how she likes to make other people look & feels like fools. I feel like she put other people in a tight because she has a $500k home and luxury car and think the bill should be on someone else in some type of way. I am very comfortable and able to afford what I want during this process. I do know LPN school may make or break her debt but it is going to be a slow process. Am I wrong for thinking that she is stupid and will not have good luck for putting people in a tight when she's is living above her means? Am I wrong for putting her butt on the spot? You don't make a $500k purchase until you have you finish with school and have a healthy savings. Her savings not healthy because she claims that she is always broke and have to wait on her school checks. She looks down on people and their situation. This is very uncomfortable when everyone trying to make a better life for themselves in that class.

I agree with you. My bf said, women waste money buying cars every two years. I tried his logic.. my car is paid in full.. no car note 6 years.. I refuse to purchase a car with a note.. I refuse to be a slave to the lender.

"why does it matter to you?".
Wonderful. Responding in this way is such a fantastic way to put people in their place without being combative.😂
Most of the people who ask you those types of intrusive questions are unaccostomed to getting that sort of reply.
In my line of work, it is always the broke brother in law or the over extended "fabulous" cousin with the loudest and most advice to give to my client.
And I'm never impressed with any broke person's salary. I've met a ton of disabled nurses, contractors, and former this or that business owners who once earned top 10% income and are now broke.

I leased my car in 2019 before the pandemic and my residual value was 19k, they wanted my car so bad right before the lease was ending writing me all these letters to get me out of the car, I kept it and put down 8k to make my payments under 200 dollars a month through my credit Union… imagine what I would be paying for a new car and what they would sell my car for in 2022

I own my own 2016 suv. No car payment here. Starting to build up a nest egg so I can buy my next car in cash or at least finance only a small portion of it. Agreed! Don’t be a clout chaser and watch your finances! A great finance TH-camr to follow is His and Her Money, to get yourself organized.

I paid my car off years ago, then sold it. I ride the bus. It's just for me, it works. I don't frivolously spend on absolutely unnecessary things. I am never going to pay $1k/ month, plus insurance. It's asinine.

Many Carport Queens and Porch Princesses (jacked-up pick-up trucks with aftermarket tires and wheels) are $70-$90k.
The owners get them financed for 6-8 years or more.

Hey brother, for the first time in 15 yrs. I thought about being a RN. I have BS in SpEd and thought I wanted to be a teacher, but the money didn’t add up. After watching TH-cam videos of nurses, I made the decision that now want to be a RN. I am 55 yrs old and retired Army and will be retiring from my current job in 5 yrs.but that job retirement check would be a little higher if I was a RN instead of a LPN. I owe my lakehouse, and I bought my first newer vehicle when my kids finished highschool in 2010. I still drive that 08 Nissan Frontier, it been a good truck. I got 14 grand kids and my 3 oldest grandkids got together and convinced me to take them to beach in Florida, so I bought a 7 passenger suv, 2012 Nissan Pathfinder with 60k miles for 11k dollars through USAA, my note is $199 a month. Anyway I took 4 of my daughters and like 10 grandkids to the beach in Florida for 5 days. One did drive her car, keep in mind my oldest daughter is 35 and my youngest daughter is 30 yrs old. I am still very active in my kids and grandkids life. I have the same 2 Yamaha wave ventures jet skis I had when then was kids and they still look new and ride like new. I have a 27 foot boat that the kids ride on at the lake. That’s my life.

I never purchase a new car, I always do used 3years or older. Also, find another lot with the same car and make both fight for your business so you won’t be losing anything when you make a deal.

A new car loses 10 percent or more of their value the minute you leave the dealer's lot so don’t fall for the trap 🪤

Your "dream car" will depreciate in value the moment you drive it off the car lot. You have become a slave to a vehicle you haven't even owned yet.
I worked very hard and put my only child through higher learning and I'm about to do the same for my niece, that is a slavery that I can get behind.
