I’ve often wondered if he had never heard this song before or he was just being like hey America, I really like this song maybe you will too but I have to really think this guys been involved in show business man for like years he has had to of heard this song before. I’m referring to the clash of fashions at that time, as partially seen in this very music video. This is one of my favorite Styx songs and I love both 70s and 80s music. I was in 5th grade when this came out. Early 80s rock/pop music was the first music that I listened to seriously, and there was a lot of 70s hard rock music still lingering on the radio back then.
Daniel Katzenjammer My parents bought me plenty of corduroy fashions for school and church wear back then. For some reason, I don’t think those threads made me very popular with my friends back then, and I don’t think they even came back into fashion in later days! 🤷♂️ 😄

If a band is obviously talented, rebellion against critic sells albums by word of mouth more than radio play (but NOT more than Mtv in the 80's). All bands that got big by word of mouth were "hated" by critics (Rush, Iron Maiden, Kiss). All bands that got big by radio play, the critics "loved" AC/DC, Elton John etc...

Born in 1989. Love Styx thanks to my dad. Still listening to them alot. Lost him to suicide 11/17/16. Made it a bucket list to go see them live and I did in Park City Ks in March of 2018. Tonight im setting here listening and reminiscing.

A few years ago my grandfather passed away and I would listen to Styx and other great bands with him in the workshop. After he passed away I got most of his cds and his CD player and I would listen to the Styx album he had and two years ago I saw Styx at a concert and it almost brought me to tears because I couldn’t stop thinking about him the whole time they were playing.

JY, TS, and STYX are the nicest and most audience-friendly band I've ever seen. They moved our entire upper section into lower-level expensive seats. Their road crew passed out bottled water during the show, for free. They interacted with fans everywhere and really seemed happy to be there

The 70's was a TRILLION times better than the 80's...The 80's began the downfall of society in general...I was a 20 something in the 80's I had an awesome time and it was a lot of fun, Probably the best years of my life; simultaneously; music was being destroyed; the grand dumbing down with schlocky tv shows and stupid vapid youth being vapid...
Man the 80s had this air of mystery, romance and adventure that makes me so nostalgic even though i never got to experience it as an adult. Anyone who can remember the 80s is truly blessed.
Seriously guys how hard is it to work this one out? The best time is when you're in your late teens early to mid twenties. This is the best time for anyone. One arbitrary era is not better than the previous arbitrary era, 70s, 80s, 90s, whatever.
That guitar solo though....amazing. Basic pentatonic scale but it showcases the importance of phrasing. Some musicians have that innate ability to create something special out of something simple.

I like a musician who can sing very good but play the main instrument at the same time. Some people are just singers and some can only play an instrument. Styx has it all. This person deserves a lot of credit from the world. He is the best.
I met him at a meet and greet in Colorado and the man,couldn't have been any nicer if he tried. Took tons of pics, signed everything you brought for him to sign and was genuinely happy to meet all of us. Love this band!

‘80s music videos had a way of being quite corny for their time, but I think part of that is because the medium was relatively new and growing in popularity (well, promo films for singles had been around since the 1960s, but it took the rise of MTV in the early 1980s for the music video to become a widely viewed form of promoting a single), so music videos had to be either straightforward or very memorable. This one was more on the fun side in concept, while sticking with the traditional performance video for at least part of the video. It’s really interesting, at least I think so, to study music videos of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s and compare and contrast them with more recent videos.
This was so creative and intricate! People with actual talent. Miss this era of music... Today's processed tunes just break the seek button on the radio in my car.... One of my favorite bands !!

it is good to see a band enjoying and "clowning in a video in a good way. As opposed to just standing on stage stone faced playing music counting the time down until they get to go backstage.There are not that many bands that do this-not the true professional bands. I love Styx. They are great rockers. I got to see these guys at Washington Missouri back in 2019 for the first time. Now they are coming back to St Louis in June and I plan on seeing them. One of my favorite albums from them is the Grand Illusion Album. I maybe 34 years old but they have the best damn music in rock history. Keep on rocking Styx. You guys are amazing people. The 70's was a TRILLION times better than the 80's...The 80's began the downfall of society in general...I was a 20 something in the 80's I had an awesome time and it was a lot of fun, Probably the best years of my life; simultaneously; music was being destroyed; the grand dumbing down with schlocky tv shows and stupid vapid youth being vapid...
Man the 80s had this air of mystery, romance and adventure that makes me so nostalgic even though i never got to experience it as an adult. Anyone who can remember the 80s is truly blessed.

Seriously guys how hard is it to work this one out? The best time is when you're in your late teens early to mid twenties. This is the best time for anyone. One arbitrary era is not better than the previous arbitrary era, 70s, 80s, 90s, whatever.
Their songs told a story and you could actually understand what they were saying. Great music .

I'm here because this video makes me chuckle the entire way through.
‘80s music videos had a way of being quite corny for their time, but I think part of that is because the medium was relatively new and growing in popularity (well, promo films for singles had been around since the 1960s, but it took the rise of MTV in the early 1980s for the music video to become a widely viewed form of promoting a single), so music videos had to be either straightforward or very memorable. This one was more on the fun side in concept, while sticking with the traditional performance video for at least part of the video. It’s really interesting, at least I think so, to study music videos of the late ‘70s and early ‘80s and compare and contrast them with more recent videos.

it is good to see a band enjoying and "clowning in a video in a good way. As opposed to just standing on stage stone faced playing music counting the time down until they get to go backstage.There are not that many bands that do this-not the true professional bands. The tours do get to be long an it becomes just a job.

I've even meet the original bassist, Chuck Panozzo, got his autograph, took some pictures, and he even asked me some questions about (Styx, did I enjoy the show?, What is my favorite Styx album. . which I replied is 'Kilroy Was Here').. He seemed like a nice guy although he did seem a little depressed to me, but that's probably because of his illness.

One of my favorite albums from them is the Grand Illusion Album. I maybe 34 years old but they have the best damn music in rock history. Keep on rocking Styx. You guys are amazing people.
