    I have some of the 10" DZR coming soon. I can't wait to hear them and maybe share some clips. We've already installed some of the passive 18" CXS subs in a theater, and a lot of people were coming by just to see what was the commotion. Some even thought there was an earthquake!

    The Dzr 315’s I bought sound incredible! Seriously loud and amazing clarity! Better than my old DSR 15’s which I love too.
    Wooden cabinets are always better sounding.
    Bought two new DXS18XLF subs too. What an immense system it is!

      Do these have any front LED light indicators like the DXR line so you can tell if you are facing them if they are on or off? Thanks!

    Just tested the dxs18xlf. It goes lower n little louder than my older dxs18. And sounds better too. Waiting for my Dzr15 to arrive.

    140 dB?? Come on 😅 I mean, I'm sure they are monsters but let's be realistic. If that's accurate that's equal to the RCF HDL50 line array module which is a 2x12, 4x6.5, 2x2 2200w rms speaker
    Great informative video, I'm looking forward to seeing more of these speakers. For that price it's very very tough to beat.

    • @GearItFirst

      Well it’s 140 measured and they have the papers to prove it so.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I have a pair of DXR15's which I've owned for over 9 years and use them for live music. They have been completely rock solid and have never given me a single issue despite being used up to 4-5 times a week during busier periods. I also had a pair of DZR12's here and they had a weird distortion issue and whilst sounding flatter, they didn't have any extra clarity and separation that I was expecting! Also, regarding the spl, when you turn the DZR's up for the higher range of spl, this introduces a lot of hiss so the extra spl wasn't really worth it! I ended up sticking with the DXR15's. If the DXR mk2's have been improved further with the larger compression driver and tuning then they will be a lot of speaker for the money!
    At the price of the DZR range, I would personally be checking out something like the new RCF 945, NX45mkV or HDM45! I'll also be very interested to see if Yamaha update their DSR range!

    howzit i'm in South Africa and its difficult to DEMO speakers . I need standalone 15's that have a lot of bass. with your experience of the DZR do u believe they are anything close to the 139db stated on the specs? would theDZR15 do the job ? are they better than RCF HDM45 ?

      @@GearItFirst Hi matey - hope you don't think I was being disrespecctful to your review - I certainly wasn't, it was fine. Previously, using quality recordings and dbl meter's and testing in and outdoors, some reviewers have done such tests - it will never be perfect, but can give good insight. Convinced me to buy DXR's. :-) keep up the good work 👍⭐

    Man I loved my dxr’s but I either transported them wrong or they were built cheap. The cabinet is plastic so one day one started rattling really bad. When I opened it up I found the support arm that goes above the woofer was cracked and it was laying on the woofer causing the rattling. Yamaha swapped it out but a few months later it started happening again. I bought 4 DXR 15’s and 3 of them have cracks around the cabinet. It sucks cause they sound great but I’m never buying plastic cabinets again. Really curious to hear what these sound like.

      DXRs or DBRs? I’ve had the issue once or twice with the DBRs but never DXRs and I’m rough with mine.

    • @larsjorgensen2911
      @larsjorgensen2911 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man, that is definitely not normal. I work with 24 of the DXR12s in busy rental fleet, they do not have an easy life but barely more than a scratch on them after 4 years. There are exceptions to both sides, but generally the composite boxes hold up to abuse better than plywood, so I would be cautious about going with DSR or DZR if your primary reason to upgrade is durability. Happy mixing!

      What distortion issues?

    • @prouserprouser9646
      @prouserprouser9646 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GearItFirst Well Allegedly yamaha very very quietly, stopped production and recalled a hell of a lot of the dzr range throughout the uk because of reported port noises and low end distortion from the woofer. and they have apparently reduced (nearly halved) the RMS output to the horn. The official yamaha manuals that ship with the pa speakers state that the RMS to the horns are MF/HF = 380 w rms continuous, but on the yamaha website it now states that they are 100w RMS burst 20 ms? . I myself have bought a pair of DZR 12's and i have dsr 12's , and i know these speakers are voiced slightly differently, because the DZR 12 sounds very flat like a studio monitor . but to our ears the dsr 12's horn sounds twice as loud and a hell of a lot more clear. any thoughts or info from yourself or yamaha would be grateful. thanks ( P.S) is that your president DONALD TRUMP at (1.38) shopping for a new pa? lol. cheers again

      @@GearItFirst source, a couple of large well known music stores here in the UK, they refused to sell these speakers for a while untill Yamaha had sent in reps to listen for themselves. There's actually some complaints on gearslutz about this issue also so I know it's not just over here, the thing is we've emailed Yamaha uk twice, but have not received an answer as of yet. I really need to get to the bottom of the HORN RMS specs that have been updated by Yamaha online ,as I think the quoted 380RMS may have been to powerful and causing issues? Who knows. I await a response from Yamaha.
