I think they should have asked him for advice. However make the skywalkers the main characters was the idea of the past 6 movies but it got kind of boring. I like the idea of new characters.
Given that I don't like rose and I thought it would have been amazing if they had introduced some new alien companion for the new main characters who playes a similar role like chewie instead of bringing Rose and this forced relationship with Fin. I also think the female actress who played Jyn in Rouge One would have made a better more emotional Rey than Daisy Ridley. I'm not a big fan of episode 8.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but finding out Carrie passed was extremely difficult and very personal to me. You see I had a crush on her right from the start back in 1977. A crush that lasted throughout her entire career. We are both, or were both, the same age. With Carrie, one always knew her beauty was within her heart. She, like so many famous people, had her demons. Drugs, smoking, psychological issues all wrecked havoc on her personal life, but once on set, you wouldn't know it. She was exceptional as an actress and when Mark Hamill made those comments about her, those were those kind of feelings one rarely shares because they hurt so very deeply. Honestly, I cry. One can see the hurt in his face. The connection those two had as well as Harrison was epic. That is cinematic history.
I shall miss her very much. Its damn hard to let go of something you love.
I offer my sincerest condolences to her family, friends and her many upon many co workers. May she and her mother, rest in the Lord.
So long as we remember them, they shall aways be in our hearts🌹🌹

JR Ewing you will be fine. For a minute I thought you actually knew her. Not to sound harsh but it’s no more personal to you than any other fan who had a crush on her. I’m sure it hurts but you can continue the same memory and thoughts you created because you actually never carried a conversation with Carrie. ...Carried with Carrie hahaha but seriously. You will be fine. If you had a crush in 70s and still as an old man can’t see how sad this is then I find that more difficult and sad than you probably feel with her passing. 😂

Jordan Bardige I know there's a video of him talking about reading the script of TFA and was wondering when he will appear. After reading it, his idea of Luke's first appearance is when both Rey and Kylo were fighting. Rey tries to the Forcce to grab the light saber. But when it seems she was able to use it, it turns out to be Luke who grabs it.

And my dad said well now that he gets the reigns back for the third film in the new trilogy, he should just make the whole second film be a dream!

CenturianEagle, JJ Abrams has said that he loves 8 WAY more than 7. JJ Abrams was one of Rian Johnson's bosses. JJ Abrams has to approve of every decision Rian Johnson makes as a producer of the film.

I don't think it's as simple as living and dead anymore. I still don't like the fact that these writers are so fucking lazy that they have to keep killing off main characters to get the audiences to 'feel'. How about some clever writing? How many star wars are we going to have in a row where the older main character dies in the next big film? lol

Exactly, so tragic that the director was so selfish to deny the actors the chance to really play the parts they wanted to play and do it together and could have told an even more amazing story. You can see Mark was ready to be the real Luke Skywalker and go out swinging like Obi Wan but much more spectacularly. Instead we only got glimpses as Mark Hamill went off script to ditch Jake Skywalker and be Luke.

@@paranormalgamesstudios "play the parts they wanted to play" Don't be a fool. Harrison only came back to do one more because they finally killed him off, not to mention the money. He didn't care that Han didn't get to reunite with Luke. That wasn't even Rian Johnson's decision. Having said that, Carrie loved Rian and his direction. Mark is the only one who didn't get the part he might've wanted, but it's precisely BECAUSE he was pushed out of his expectations and comfort zone, that he gave such a phenomenal, raw, complex, nuanced performance. The best of his career.
Actors are not the sole authority on the parts they play. They're *collaborators* in the creative process and they're there to be directed and give the best possible performance. And this isn't a Marvel comic book movie. Luke didn't need to "go out swinging". He had the upper hand, he was in control of the situation. He manipulated Ben and singlehandedly saved the Resistance using his mastery of the Force to send his consciousness across light years to manifest as a kind of literal Force Ghost. Then he died on his own terms, peacefully becoming one with the Force under the light of a binary sunset, bringing his journey full circle. Having him just get killed in battle would've been garbage.
