    You'll be ready for some winter hiking to get get away from those midges. Great call on turning back, that would be one hell of a long day if you didn't. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers.

    Great effort Paul. The midges never make it easy. We did that route on Good Friday back in 2004. Our plan was to do the 2 hills, but like you left 2nd hill for another day due to distance and poor weather. We then approached it from the dam with the other 3 hllls up there. We also used the Iron Lodge approach for Mullach na Dheiragain as poor weather stopped us combining it with Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan when had cycled in from Glen Affric Lodge. ATB Derek

    • @PAADVENTURES1
      @PAADVENTURES1  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Alan,
      I think I have only really done one equipment video and it was mainly my winter gear. That was a few years ago now. I sometimes add a wee bit of gear depending on what I am doing. I think our bothy trip a few weeks ago I added some kit stuff.
      Generally I have three or four changes of kit, 2 for summer and 2 for winter. I will look at the weather and the terrain then decide what fits best. Nothing scientific, just a gut feeling. Then I have all my kit that comes all the time. That is mostly emergency stuff. Personal location beacon, survival bag and shelter, map and compass, spare clothes, whistle batteries and stuff.
      Maybe I should do a wee video 🥴🥴cheers mate! Paul

      @@PAADVENTURES1 thanks Paul, a video would be great. I generally feel like I take too much, but that’s only cause it’s not used, which is a good thing in the case of the emergency stuff. Wow, tough one Paul. Feel for your both there. A real challenge under the circumstances. However despite the annoyance of now needing to go back I reckon you made a smart decision to get the hell out of there. When you have done the last one in that group it is going to be a real relief but equally when you look back on your Munro bagging days this one will be a good one to remember and to know that becoming a compleator really is a huge achievement.
    I have one for which I am on a third attempt. Got to A’ Mhaighdean twice and within a couple of hundred metres of Ruadh Stac Mor and on both occasions decided it was for the best to turn back. So I hope you get An Riabhachan second time round without further issue.
    As I have all the Mullardoch Munro’s to do I should be pleased of your thoughts on how best to tackle them. I do have a bike.

      This is the first time in my wee journey that I have felt so close and decided against it! I guess that’s all down to a wee bit of luck!!
      Your right though it will be sweet to get this one when I do!! Probably next year now.
      If I was doing these again I would just commit to getting all 4 in the loop walk! It’s a long day but better than doing them in sections.
      It’s a long way to go just to go back again. I know the ferry used to run and that helped with the loch part? Not sure if that will come back or not??
